Brief: Pussy Willows Groan

Pussy willows groan
Long summer heat brings succor
Garden bed defrost

Merging buds stretch towards sun
So golden the seasoning

Apathy

In darkness lonely and lost
Could you my heart defrost?

I’m walking around blindly
For help I’m asking kindly

Take my hand into yours
My life is aimless, coarse

Where’s a real life and joy?
I just want my life enjoy

Premium Member Wonder Not Vi

Wonder not, my friend,
Why the buds of love seldom bloom in
Men’s hearts,

It is because of

The blizzard of indifference that
Hardly ever, allows compassion for others,
To defrost!

Time Is Unbreakable

Time is unbreakable.
Whatever happen to me
Life went on freely,
It flows like a wick
Of smoke of a candle,
That was extinguished.
Slight spark flickers
In twilight of doubts,
In passion hot campfire.
Time to thaw, defrost,
And get warmer in life.

Halloween Ghost

Locked in the frost,
Halloween seems like a gatepost,

Fantasies turn into a permafrost,
Pumpkins next to the doorpost,

Vampires at the rearmost,
Ghosts at the bedpost,
Wolves at the aftmost,

Midnight clocking the midmost...
Sunrise cleansing the defrost.

Leaves entertaining with color
Leaving disorder on the ground
An icy grip that soon holds us
Eases with rising sun, for now
Breath begins to reveal itself
Hidden aches are quickly found
Right when it becomes too much
We defrost, forget and rebound
Humid heat of previous seasons
Waiting on cold to come around

Thawing

Passion sweeps my body,
As I feel you drawing near;
And though I may not see you,
I can always sense you’re here;

I feel your hands engulf me,
Your embrace breaks all resolve;
The chains that keep me prisoner,
Are beginning to dissolve;

I’ve tried to fight these feelings,
But the battle now is lost;
The ice that held me captive,
Is beginning to defrost…

Shards of lambent moonlight drift across crumpled charcoal sky,
gleaming snow clad laneways flaunt ancient ghostly footprint,
dream world boisterous cabals lurk in blue ink shadows,
glow worm street lights peer o’er nocturnal hour hush,
swirling toll of dulcet midnight bells defrost black ice veil,
mud stained slush from madcap drivers spray giggling sweethearts

Wonder not, my friend, that the
buds of love seldom bloom in
Men’s souls,

It’s because of

The blizzard of self-indulgence that
Hardly ever allows care for others to
Defrost!

Defrosting

Frozen items need some time
So surfaces may soften.
In the center, they may stay
Rock-hard - it happens often.

Microwaves may hasten things
So you won’t have to wait,
If you’re very hungry or
In case you’re running late.

Food is easy to defrost –
Unwrap it and you start,
But feelings don’t respond as well
When ice is in your heart.

It may take a lot of work
When boundaries have been crossed
To melt the anger and the hurt
And let your heart defrost.

Premium Member First Spring Visitor

Something was different this morning
I'd gone to bed chilled,
reached for another blanket
knowing I'd have to defrost with coffee
before bracing for the north wind.

But sunlight peeked at me
through my kitchen window.
Too tempting not to open the door
and say, "Good morning."

There it was—
the first crocus greeting me
as if it was her calling card.
I felt the warmth of sunshine
on my face
and grinned knowing Spring
didn't forget to visit.

God's Joy

God's joy radiates my face
in the bitter cold of satan's disgrace
I curl up and soak the rays in
Like the upside-down peace of a lounging feline grin.
Though my bones are chilled in the warming shade of my home,
I see the sun rise; my soul does warm;
the birds rise to defrost their wings;
bunnies, squirrels, fox - animals
run in the anticipation of spring.
In the dead of winter my optimism doesn't whine
as I am graced, blessed by His loving sunshine.

Cloudy Day

the wind chills the pane
as you tear at her heart
and she sits inside,
playing her love songs on guitar-
belting emotions
praying for you to come back
but the pane stays cold
reality finished that chapter
now she sits and waits-
waiting,
for her next kiss,
one she can fall for
one who completes her
when the pane can defrost
and the wind warms your heart
the kind where rain is better than sun
and you'd rather have a cloudy day
than the sun
because it is that magical

De-Snowing the Car

Start the engine; hit defrost.
Find your scraper brush.
Swipe the windows first as you
Get rid of all the mush.

Clean the mirrors and the lights;
Don’t forget the roof.
You can get a ticket
With the snow up top as proof.

Get behind the steering wheel;
Hit the gas and move
Back and forth until you’ve made
A likely exit groove.

Shut the engine; lock the doors.
Some peace of mind you’ve bought
Until the snow plows block you in,
Your efforts all for naught.

Premium Member Musings From a Meter Maid

A meter maid I’ve never been
But Deb’s convinced me I have sinned
So now I write this verse for her
With hopes her wrath I won’t incur

“Defrost” is said as de’ frost here
The South is different, it’s so clear
Sur-re’-al sometimes sounds sur-eel’
But what means more is how I feel

About a poem and what it says
If written by a serf or prez
My meter’s time is running out
This WAS a strain, beyond a doubt
