copper-colored leaves
mackerel sky*
fall arrives
with quiet grace
razzle dazzle haircut
slivers of silver and copper
fantastical design
not worn in this town
until now
I am a splash hit
Still a boy
Such a happy Ladd
Catching fireflies
In a jar, in midsummer night
Oh, what a dandy, said
His copper moon eyes
Steady wind turns this compass
Chrome-blue sky covers this earth
Copper Mountains touch this heaven
Pure joy snaps at your heels
Permanent hand stamp
in copper, green and silver
letting us back in
to life, to love, in shapes of
luna moth wings, fluttering.
I toss my pennies
in a humongous glass jar...
copper millionaire?

A dog by the side of the road
Whelped out her cute little load
A copper who saw
Reeled off the law
Cited for littering I’m told
Twin shades of a noble bird
simmer in copper
as I forego the pigskin
for soft, sleepy, sweet
cranberry burnished
succulent
meat!
Copper leaves rustle
White powder covers the land
Early light brings gold
In the frigid cloud I watch
My last breath appear and swirl
Jinxed kisses taste
like copper lightning
vows erupt mid-air,
cursed by tainted lips
never meant
for forever.
Caught inside a memory,
with flashbacks of desire
Your scent returns as lightning
—my heart a copper wire
(Dreamsleep: October, 2020)
sunday is a holiday
not for a poet in burning fire
who made days and weeks
sun was circling around the earth not too long ago
poor copper
Form:
Copper face
Codfish leaping
From your
Plate
Nipping at
The edge of
The sweet
Blue moon
Ascending
Back to
The eternal
Dark wine sea
clouds
roof
quiet
soft settling
clouds drift and linger
the evening air gathers its calm
night folds gently around the roofline—copper dusk
The whistling winds blow
Stroking tender dancing leaves
The chains of copper oak,
Gently sways in heighten gay
And creates a jovial summer.
The whistling winds blow
Stroking tender dancing leaves
The chains of copper oak,
Gently sways in heighten gay
And creates a jovial summer.
The whistling winds blow
Stroking tender dancing leaves
The chains of copper oak,
Gently sways in heighten gay
And creates a jovial summer.
Ilene's son was in a Dublin pub
When someone gave his leg an rub
"A copper to spare?"
"There's one over there
But he looks a bit like Beezlebub!"

your eyes hold the light
of burnished copper fishes
darting in the waves

First light shines,
Upon this hill
We dig for
Blood diamonds,
In copper mills
Diamonds,
A girl’s best friend
Diamonds steals the
Flesh of men
Daily my schoolbus drove through Copper Cliff.
Tiny town's tiny manicured lawns.
'Twas the highlight of my bus trip.

Pewter goblets
Tin and copper
The last remnants
Of ancient taverns
And olden abodes
Of bygone memories
From bloodthirsty pirates
And poisonous wine
though old still virile
bent but untrained by the wind
bonsai beautiful
where white scented blossoms grow
your copper wired cane holds
Compressed carbon is called Diamond
Cut land in water is called Island
Beaten copper is Wire
Love bitten man- Lover
Compressed, cut n’ beaten man is Husband

The wake-up call woke me,
grabbed the copper vintage rotary
phone, no line. The ringing
continued, where? Hung up the
wall phone in the bathroom.
