No Bungee Cord!
There I go; off the wall
Oh my gosh; it is so tall!
Hope I never hit the ground
Impact would be a nastry sound!...

Green Bungee Cords
St. Patrick's Day does come but once a year,
to those wearing green here's a mighty cheer,
so may the kilts fly high
as the parade goes by...
A toast to the lads who tie down their gear!...

Living On the Edge
Some get it climbing mountains
And some when driving fast,
For others it’s a bungee
as their whole life rushes past
Each to his own, just get your kicks
whatever works for you;
I get my rush just hoping
That my credit card goes through...

Active Trochee
Climbing mountains, scaling cliffs,
Bungee jumping fan,
Action hero, stuff of myths,
Such a macho man.
Snorkels, dives and flies a plane,
Thrills and danger led,
Wrestles, races, feels no pain…
Only in my head.
For Andrea’s 7/5 Trochee contest...

I Have Never
I have never been on a safari.
never been on an Alaskan cruise.
never been bungee jumping
never got shot in a poker game
never been on a lion hunt
never driven a car in the Indy500
never piloted a 747
but I can still die happy
because I never wanted to do any of these things...

An Unexpected Delivery
A huge pregnant young lady named Jill
Bungee jumped for a bit of a thrill
When her baby flew out
Jill did scream and then shout
'Now there’s two to walk back down the hill!'

Summer
Her visit is bright!
It brings life and warmth. Butterflies, surfers, children, hikers,
and bungee jumpers celebrate her coming. Fireworks, fireflies, and balloons
of different colors in the air, are visible to see. We hope that she is here to stay, but Autumn is sure to show her the door again.

Chained
A soul so chained it dragged the weight
Through the graveyard to the vast estate
Into a life money bound
Pretensious living their great crown
Money their god and baptism
Soul chained by materialism
No longer life of the party
Caught between life and death..bungee
Chained soul needs an exorcism
To free from consumerism
possibly unfinished...

Broken Telescope
BROKEN TELESCOPE
Hung
from mouth
hitched to
Heaven by
this sleek steel
blade bungee
jumping
over rooftops
apocalyptic
vapors of gas
fizzle and
spout
Hung
broken
telescope
stars have fallen
from dark sky
floored
they lay where
I have no doubt
one by one they
will flicker
out

Circus Ambitions
circus haiku
coming of circus
summers biggest fun event….
wait seems forever
eight year old girl sees
glamorous trapeze artists…
through myopic eyes
diary explodes
magical high flying acts…
new life’s ambition
duty intervenes
diary lies unopened…
trapeze acts a dream
advanced age hampers
high flying acts beyond reach....
bungee jump perhaps...

Gathering Pieces of Me
So many times you have hurt me,
creating an emotional shrill
that disintegrates my joy
in a hiccup speed.....
It is by holding onto love for you,
that I have learned how to join pieces
of my broken joy again. I tried alcohol,
bungee-jumping, and sky gazing
to repair my joy, but alas! alas!;
I discovered that love was the easiest
way to my joy's pieces again!...

Touch a Stranger's Heart
Probably you’ve met people who know too much
about things that rarely matter to you;
the price of all kinds of kinds of ropes,
the best places to bungee jump,
the weakest points of our bodies,
the right location of our arteries…..
Sometimes people know some things,
so as to know how to take their lives.
Those are the best people to talk to,
and show them they’re not alone….....

To Please
To please everyone is...
To climb the highest mountain.
Dive to the very bottom of the sea.
Hold your breath for twenty minutes.
Hug the Great Wall Of China.
Live for days without water.
Go to Antarctica for a day in shorts and a tank-top.
Swim every ocean in two days time.
Bungee jumping off Mount McKinley.
Run across the U.S. in two days.
To please everyone is to please no one....

Bam Heart Attack
He thought his life was going well
Then BAM
Heart attack
I am dying he thought
But he didn’t.
When he woke up in the hospital he realized something
He was ready to really live
This was a new fresh chance
He began to do dangerous things
He went bungee jumping and sky diving
He has never been this reckless! His wife told others.
She did not understand it
Until BAM
She had her own heart attack...

Aging With Flare
Retirement for some means a rocking chair
But I’m blasting forth on a contrail’s flare
My 40-year career
Swirls behind in Earth’s sphere
And I’m ready to take on any dare
Francine invited me to bungee jump
I’ll skydive with Gwen - might end up a clump
There’ll be no rocking chair
As I hang-glide through air
Thinking of age as a tiny speed bump

Unlikely Duet
His "mommy" had taken
her grandson bungee jumping,
and left me dog sitting.
Eli, a tiny black "Pom,"
two pounds dog, five pounds hair,
stared at me. His sad eyes
begged, "My mommy's gone,
what're you gonna do about it?"
In spite of mediocre ability
–What do dogs know?–
I began to sing,
"You Are My Sunshine."
Eli pointed his nose heavenward,
pursed his mouth,
and sang with me, his tongue
curled into a rose-tinted
petal of love....

Fantasize
As you hug my thighs
I fantasize
About the time we first met
You were on a manikin, strutting your stuff
Making me want you more
Dreaming about the day we'd soar
High and about into the nights sky
Glowing in the clouds as I bungee jump from the airplane
We'd be together, forever
As you hug my thighs
I fantasize
About how things used to be
You were shining in the sun
Glowing in the moonlight
There were no holes or patches
Bruises or scratches
You were new...

Away I Go
My heart starts pounding and my knees go weak
I can feel the blood running up to my head
My adrenalin is pumping, my blood vessels retract
I know what this is all about
My fear is but just a fall away
If I falter, I fall, without a doubt!
Sweet sounds flood my saturated mind
Sounds of laughter, sounds of joy
Yet I know I cannot tell, although through this fog I must win
Cheering and smiling, all look up at me
I begin my story, 300 feet af bungee...

One Check So Far
My list is insanely insane right now.
I started it a few minutes ago.
It took off as if it had a life of its own.
A bucket list of sorts.
Except for one thing.
I never intend to kick the bucket.
I intend to go out screaming and kicking though.
Bungee jumping
White water rafting
Visiting the Mayan Ruins
Traveling to Egypt without running into any enemies
Growing new teeth
Forgiving myself for all of my faults
Writing a list poem. Check.
One check.
So far, pretty good....
