Birch Tree In Early Spring
Birch Tree in Early Spring

Every breath of wind
stirs the branches,
each
with a drop of
yesterday’s rain,
frozen in the moment,
sparkling now in the sun,
like a thousand diamonds,
and I,
I am dazzled....

The bright white birch tree stood tall in the rain
Taking a stand against any pain
On gray dismal days, that may bring you down
Bringing light through the fog, to remove any frown
What a sight to see, this white birch tree
Bringing beauty and refuge in a reverie

Time begins again
When I look at the birch tree
       Playing with crayons

       Oh, so sour apples
To the wet ground falling leaves
       Old tree in the yard

Copper Leaves
Layer upon layer of copper leaves,

Lay here, and all around.

As the birch tree lost it's canopy,

And carpeted the ground.

Beneath my feet, some ankle deep

Some falling through the air.

Autumn's gusts gathered strength,

And spread them, everywhere.

You Hold Us
Loving smile
Forgives my trespasses
Like waves erase the trampled sand clean

Gentle hands
Calloused like the Birch tree
Glide across my soft trembling landscape

Eyes sparkle
Like stars held in my heart
They carry your words without falling

Steadfast heart
Deep as the universe
Hold us safe in evening glow

Floodraisers
dragged from grey waters
dragged from war's hungry mouth
there's a door on top of a birch tree

point me to the checquered carpets
on the roof of the albino hearse
point me to the playhouse building
where we can watch
noir movies on a saxophone
point me to the fireworks in the mist
and bury me up in the cellar
under the highway or the ocean floor
where fly riders turn
into floodraisers...

Premium Member The Sacrificial Lamb
flocks of sheep paused their grazing,
looked up to speak to me,
the bright moon kept watch,
like a big farm dog,
looking over a tall birch tree!
I condoned with their bleating,
of their inhuman suffering,
heard their soul’s appeal!
the green meadow fed them,
from fresh goodness of its being,
knowing too well,
that this would be their last meal!

The Birch Tree
Cover me with the haze of
Fragmented years,
Let me sleep through this autumn
Where rains greedily devour
Dying leaves,
And streams flow into the rotten silence.

Clothe me with the moss
Which grew in the wrinkles of the forehead,
Make me senseless for the cruel fingers of the northerly wind,
And the silver which dwells
On Venus Hill,

Just leave my eyes naked
To count in them rings of the birch tree,
Which cut down
Our unmeasurable distance....

Ablaze In Birch
A backdrop of orange gives birth to hues anew. Singing it's praises 'pon the birch tree,
co-mingling with the shade beneath it's hanging branches and it's leaves so rusty brown.
creating variations no where else that could be found.
Shining it's light over the yonder hills, obscuring shadows and forms, accentuating the
sienna grass some more, till the birch tree seems an orange blaze amidst an ocean conclave
that lives eternal in those that would dare remember it....

Premium Member Lets Throw Snowball At the Owl
Two slow-witted goblins were tricksters who had no fear
They tiptoed up the staircase of a birch tree that was near.

They forgot that owls can gobble you down in a minute.
Their plotting was horribly stupid, no matter how you spin it.

Let’s throw a snowball at that one, the dumbest one said.
Let’s! Agreed the other, I think his name was Dolt Ed.

The owl was not happy when the snowball hit the back of his head.
And sure enough, within minutes both goblins were dead....

Premium Member She Needed a New Familiar
She needs a new familiar, she is frightened of black cats.
This was told to them by a wizard named Charlie T. Matts.
No one believed it, for she was a powerful witch after all.
It is true, agreed a nonbeliever, seeing her hiding that fall.

She was behind a birch tree, as cats paraded by in masks.
Some of them were mealy mouthed, focused on their tasks.
They scare her to death the now believer told the others.
She needs to be straightened out said both of her grandmothers....

Spring marks the end of winter and start of summer
It is lovely with colorful contrasts
Norway is a long country with a lot of mountains and valleys
Wide variations in climate from south to north and from east to west

Migrant's return, and the first flower is coltsfoot
Both humans and animals awakened by hibernation with new energy
The sun is high, no snow falls and the birds singing
Small downy mouse ears to be leaves on birch tree
