The hard blueish pebbles beneath my feet
make the stony trek to the ocean
a dangerous undertaking.
Barnacles adhere to stones,
slicing at passing feet.
Past the stony beach
the sand awaits.
Beyond sand...
the sea,
blue....

Upon an oyster bed.
A wayward clam stuck out his foot
And struck me on the head.

Hit by this sea of insight
Pearls of wisdom, so to speak:
If  barnacles grow on your backside
That clam'll think you’re a geek....

 seashells hide in frothy tides -

basket filled with gifts
 sea life gone now but lives on -
  treasures of the sea

senseless

it steamed

marine mollusks
barnacles brachipods
she is a conchologist
through her windows
breath of the sea
bits and pieces
of the dead meat
collection is a 
disease
waves and the tides
clams and snails
and chitons
killed and adorned
in our empty homes
of love...

Hard as barnacles
That block the silver skin
Of a Swan Boat
That sails errantly
Upon the Sea of Din
You are the Wave
That lifts that boat
Or sinks it in the mire
You are its ruby eyes that dim
Or flare with bright desire.

I cannot tell,
I cannot tell,
The reason
Why you go,
I’ll grip the rails
And furl the sails
And dumbly watch the snow....

Standing at the edge of the bay,
I imagine a watery grave where lie
Remains of an old Spanish galleon
Laden with silver coins encrusted
Barnacles and unsalvaged treasure,
Where once the buccaneers partied
After a successful foray in a placid sea
In those moments I dance a sarabande
As my vivid imagination runs amok.

Lifting up starfish and barnacles
they search tidepools for their minds
but they'll not find them.
They've been gone for quite some time
blown out by the violent tides of life
They're tangled up in the kelp beds now.
Barely hanging on..
The next stop is that deep water nest...
Bitten in half
drifting to the bottom
where things live out their lives
without song-half rotted
where blackness has no concept 
of
light....

In human affairs, what prepares
A mortgage to funnel a home
A church to repent its coffers
A vehicle to search its on tank

What keeps stolen pride alive
While kingdoms crumble
Let it be
The barnacles of the bridge

Enlightenment rescind its kid
As chalkboards charter a change
Or simply rearrange furniture

The hospital panic to save us
When jobs dont cover the cost
All the workers will wander around lost

In the future to plunge
Awareness with an empty lung...

Clear blue sky and cool winds blow
waves pouring in and splashing high
toppling over  jetted rocks
ripples mellow out and gently flow 

Gulls soaring low, cormorants streaming by
distant sail boat tackling the rising tides
white caps roll, fast and furious
tangling seaweed strewn where barnacles lie 

the ocean’s voyage does not cease  
waves are traveling with a sounding roar 
this vista plants a profound wonder
in my mind this is absolute peace...

I could not stick my head in glue
To feed and wait with barnacles,
Or seek security among
Aggregate anemones,
Or anchor to tomorrow with sedentary polyps,
Or browse with slugs,
Or cling to rocks,
Or maintain the perpetual
Defensiveness of urchins,
Or achieve “being realistic”
With camouflaged bottom dwellers,
Or remain isolated in a shell.

I float on my colors,
Moved by current desires.
Developing backbone
To swim effortlessly
In the ocean of possibility....
