9-4-13 NUMBER 1
A walk on a Arkansas Highway.
Weather warm, dry,
Few clouds in the sky,
This was his world,
Vignette-IN A PAINTED HOUSE
arkansas, nostalgia, people,
On granpappy's farm,in Arkansas
Picking cotton was the annual chore,
Recording the rural life,he saw-
Scraping a living ,on a small wage
A tender story..of coming of age....
arkansas, funny, people, places,
I do not know?
He traveled down from Arkansas,
To New Orleans, for Mardi Gras.
"One evening of abandonment,"
That's what his trusted friends say,
"He frolicked on Fat Tuesday night,
And repented on Ash Wednesday."
arkansas, dog, funny,
There once was an Arkansas beagle
Though quite common, registered legal
But when it would rain
The throne he would reign
As if thinking himself so regal

arkansas, america, blessing, house,
"They misunderestimated me."
G. W. Bush
June 11 2000
From "Dumbest Quotes of G. W. Bush"
President Bush, bless his house,
Bless his brilliance and his nous,
May he note the following quote:
"A fly does not enter a closed mouth."
Just Behind Home Plate
At the pitcher’s mound, for the Arkansas Razorbacks,
The scarecrow faces the crowd and sings, “Bring Him Home”
From the Broadway Musical, “Les Miserable”
Then, he receives a standing ovation from a flock of
Black crows chatting and eating buttered popcorn,
In the front row box seats, just behind home plate...
in a steady stream,
flowing over polished Arkansas stones.
The Ozark Mountain stream so old,
the waters are so cold,
and thy endless flow,
that's steady and unwavering.
A rock falls in,
its journey begins,
then calmly downstream it's washed.
As the rules do abide,
the ripples do collide,
and play a pretty attuned song....
Honeymoon At Dodge City
arkansas, allegory, analogy,
Honeymoon At Dodge City
Our honeymoon were on first day;
Overnight in Dodge City did stay;
Then we rested;
Headed to Colorado without delay.
That was on Augusy 27th, 1966.
We started out in Wichita, KS.
Garden City is on other side of
Dodge City. They both ar on the
Arkansas River. Dodge City is
having voting problems.
arkansas, america, music,
Hillbilly magic in the heat of the day
Playing homemade fiddles in the middle of May.
Blowing into Grandpa’s jug with a merry hey.
Knee slapping melody with my cousin Shay.
Adding to Arkansas lazy ambiance in every way,
Black comb with waxed paper kazoos added to the fray.
Consuming Bob’s moonshine in secret shadows of dark gray.
Good ole’ fashioned downhome fun on a June like Saturday.
Sly Fox of Chigger Hallow
In the foothills of the Ozarks Arkansas
Those mountains a calling, come and play the game
From prison came Joe to see his ailing pa
Furloughed from prison won notorious fame
Frances met him in their secret rendezvous
Sweet blonde Frances Standridge, eyes of baby blue
Her lover the sly fox of Chigger hollow
Taught her teenage virtue a newfound shallow
For and in Honor of Dr Rams Contest...
Monicagate - to Stain or Abstain
arkansas, humorous, political,
Hee haw, hee haw, I'm Bill from Arkansas,
I don't know what y'all are mad at me for.
That woman, Miss Lewinsky,
sure stained my Presidency
and now she won't blow my horn anymore.
"Yeah buddy, you blew it and what a mess!"
I sure did darlin' all over that blue dress.
It sure was fun Monica
for us to share a cigar
and quickly pass an act of sexual congress.
What Might Have Been--1960
arkansas, family, history, mother,
No more money for liquor,
in the berth.
The train clicked
in darkness like a clock.
He hit her.
Her father cried, “Get out!”
they found his body
on the lawn.
Nothing left to feel.
was a mile
through the dusty southwest.
She would take him home
for the sake
of what might have been....

arkansas, conflict, confusion, corruption, how i feel, motivation,
It has been their asservation
since Arkansas days
without any reservation
many misunderstood their ways
The right wing conspiracy
continues to question
their altruistic sincerity
and past indiscretions
Many find it axiomatic
that their gig is up
and being pragmatic
still find them corrupt

A xenophobe goes to the polls
arkansas, humor, political,
I didn’t really want
to get political
my poems are supposed to be
sweet and fun
But several other poets
have posted verses
about my sweetie pie
So let me explain
in poetic style
why I still plan to vote
for him this fall
Yes, he is crude
Yes, he is orange
Yes, he is totally
out there sometimes
Yes, he is crazy
Yes, he is weird
Yes, he is possibly
Yes, he may well be
all those things --
but he’s STILL not
My Country 'Tis of Thee
When children are taught never to forget
conflicts’ lessons, to love all humans,
to honor those through history
who, selfless, wrought liberty. . .
Then will spangled dreams for
our peace be fulfilled
as God imparts

Agent-- So your going back to the outpost now?
Nate-- Yeah, Forest is my home. The outpost there is too.
Agent-- O.K. I'll stop by and see you soon.
Nate-- I'll be there. I'll play your song on the way home.

Nate-- Memory like an elephant...
Agent-- Body of a Tiger?
Agent-- Stay safe out there.
Nate-- you too......
