An arctic chill crusts my beard
The wind whistles down my back
Slipping on a patch of ice
I think I just broke my crack
quick, sly Arctic fox
unseen in North Pole tundra ~
perfect camouflage

White bright
Yellow eye
Snowy owl
Tumbling in
The Arctic wind
Stiff claws
Clamping down,
Through the
Seagull's heart, again
brushed marigold sun

Morning cold out here
Should wear thermal underwear
Spring is coming slow
Frigid season nature shrinks
Full display arctic dismay
Waning crescent moon rises
Red sun rises adjacent
Whip-poor-will's love affair short
An arctic cold night
More polarization than in Poland
or north of the Arctic Circle
Division rife on the left, not seen
since H. Rap Brown and Studs Terkel
cold as arctic wind
warm as a day in spring
bitter as a winters storm
gentle as a lovers touch
as sad as a tear
this is my heart i fear
drowsy polar bears
yawn in glacial snow-rimmed den…
arctic storm alert

The Inuit looked out of his igloo
at the vast wilderness, endless snow,
" Autumn is coming " he said to his wife,
and she answered " how will we know?"
snow sits on spring grass
lazy storm sheds arctic tears
swallowed by sunlight

immoral north winds
locking jaws on shriveled souls-
sun starved perdition
becharmed arctic breeze
winter’s kiss exalting hearts-
moon drenched nirvana
An antelope at the zoo’s gala
Stuck both horns right through a koala
He skewered an ox
And one Arctic fox
They now call him Vlad the impala
father owl
winter prophet
redeeming spirit
overseer of clarity
frozen cloud zone
Arctic enigma
gloriously revealing
bringing dazzling truth
into the season
Dainty gauzy cobweb holds on valiantly retaining essence
Impressing Kansas fescue grasses and lovely Queen Anne ’s lace
Not intimidated by cool northern Arctic winds
The needles
Of thousands
and of millions
pour on me,
Drenching me
with its
Arctic temperature.
Each drop is like
a frozen amber,
Smouldering
at absolute zero.
Form:
polar bears warm balmy winter victims
arctic food chain collapsing
sea shore ice receding

A polar bear cub was once told,
That the Arctic was not really cold,
But it gave him a cough,
And he froze his butt off,
So he kept his nuts wrapped in a fold!

*The Milne Ice Shelf, Canada’s last intact ice shelf,
has collapsed.
Secluded
at the edge of the world—
reflections linger.
