Satin flowers droop
in gray wind, shadows streaming
through a slate forest.
Clouds are smoky foliage
blocking marigold sun rays.

Bright umbrellas bloom
in summer's sudden cloudburst.
Pewter raindrops fall
like pebbles on concrete loam,
dark stems arcing a rainbow....

Striking Out
The color of lemonade washing the sky—
Popsicle memories revive
Of baseball connecting with ash wood, hit high
In an arcing, outfield drive.

Are summers forever? Or only a day?
Moth-eaten , major-league hat…
December’s the umpire, miscalling the play,
And there’s ice on my Louisville bat....

Epilogue To Summer Storm
Mercurial splendor; earth, sky the
props
Sunlight glints through
effervescent drops
Fluorescent beams glisten through
glowing treetops
O'er grassy plain, steel girder slides
and hops
Colorful symphony earth's
footstool for heaven's grandeur
swaps
An arcing prism of neon across the
horizon crops...

A Lullaby For a Suicidal Butterfly
A lullaby
For the suicidal butterfly
Tracing figure eights on my window panes.

Broken wings,
Torn by thunderstorms
And rosebushes,
Are still beating fruitlessly:
In hope,
Or foolishness,
The two are interchangeable.

A lullaby
For the suicidal butterfly
Arcing lazily overhead
For a last-breath sunset....

Thousand Shards of Glass
A grey area through which we trudge
A thousand arcing shards
Sol, dust on the rift of illumination
A thousand cut-throat shards
Forever lead astray by the light
The boundaries of truth
Oh so tyrannical
Uncontested
.
..
...
Tick, tick
The bell to resound
The fangs to arch in
For a rogue shard could ne'er defy...

Lavender lilacs pose pretty
with riotous rows of perfect petals
             wind whipped, airily arcing
       mesmerizing motions…paths pulsing
              sweet scents wistfully woo
          wispy winged, soft silk butterfly
to alight and sip fresh nectar.

Premium Member The Storied Swing That Made Him King
The former MVP pawned his very last ring
like the others, it had begun to sting
Bittersweet memories of his storied swing
that for a decade had made him King

He'd hit home runs in every park
    high-arcing 'rainbows' his pet trademark
Now resting quietly in a subway dark
he rattles his cup, his rags pock-marked...

Lingo
In basketball, there is a hoop
Through which an orange ball
When arcing, in a graceful loop,
May very likely fall.

A candidate, in quite a gaffe,
Mistakenly said “ring”
Instead of “hoop;” on his behalf,
Attention it did bring.

But notoriety is not
Considered as a plus
And lack of sporting lingo’s what
Makes him not one of us!...

Hello
Hello
Each morning I will rise and say Hello
To hail the day and what it conveys
and generate smiles or fetch a grin
Hello to good fortune hello to a sin
To question life what have we here
A rainbow arcing over the sun
The natures greeting to us all
A simple word in query tones
Then we can watch the world go by
Until it’s time to say Goodbye

A rainbow is
a prism of seven colors soft to eye
thrown against the sky for surrounding view
in a reversed smile turning your smile upward
arcing from one end of the earth
to the another end of the earth
without a beginning only an end

Multiple sources combine forces to create a mighty current. Quiet babbling brooks become a cacophonic thunder. Arcing in sunlight, a stone lands with a kerplunk, sends water skyward. Swept downstream, it vanishes, no evidence of impact. Countless words flood forth: mirth, anguish, anger, joy, awe. Cast into the soup, briefly visible to all, swept downstream into the void.

Premium Member Electricity
I love you
In little bits
Of electricity
Tingling me
Like a sandy beach
Watching the tide
Flowing
Receding
Repeating
Like a heartbeat
Smelling the ocean
Feeling the breeze
Squeezing the sand
Beneath my feet
Little bits of electricity
Running up my legs
Past my knees
My hips
Into my spinal cord
Warming my heart
Arcing me
With you
Hugging longer
Squeezing tighter
Electricity
Channels me
With ecstasy
For you....

Premium Member Beware the Dawn of Bitter Light
Beware the dawn of bitter light
Breaking bows of arcing flight

Casting sails full of schemes
Drifting, fading, lucid screams

Beware the myriad of twirling hues
Miles away from waking ruse

A brazen thief of peaceful bliss
Plunder, pillage, a devil’s kiss

Beware the day of hollow woes
Waning moonlight ivory doze

Longing for a wink of sleep
Touching, holding, you I keep

The fear of day, it haunts me so
For morrow comes and dreams must go...

Taking Time
The twisted tunnels and funnels of time
fend with the arcing arrows of truth
As gravity and comedy compete for attention
In a one way foray of racing life
As some hang and lean above speeding wakes
screaming with the absolute joy of it
others lay back and watch the ever-changing clouds
looking back at what might have been
That never can be
influences of how
In the nuances of now
Sails billow as lines are re adjusted
To shade the setting sun
And I find a tiller to lean on...

Kitchen Nectar
KITCHEN NECTAR

How sweet the walls must taste
when cuisines and anvils fuse about the place
and spices unite from every orient
How beautiful the arc must be
between the vulcan chefs
when spoons and hammers vulcanize
above the temple floor
How enhancing is a sight
when once invention comes
and swinging doors emit a sound
like some nebulous light
Could cohesion cause a glow?
Revelry and invention could you know
Or is it spoons arcing in the air
to weld a plate below...
