Ten Years Later

You say you understand
You can't have everything
Your tongue tastes the gutter
You'd soar higher without wings
You don't believe in ever afters
Yet you want a wedding ring
Now you shed tears
For both joy and suffering...

For richer - For Poorer
is nought but
a doorway opened
by the few; for some it
leads to life and happy ever
afters, for most it paves the path
to sorrow, regret and acceptance that
their lives cannot be truly measured by the
number of zeroes in ones account, but by the pluses...

Even happy ever afters end
Memories turn to stories with time
And even happy ever afters end
Moments sift through our fingers
and dissipate devouring our lives
A tear so soft and pliable grasps the smile, the loss and the heartbreak
Pain imprisoned in a spherical salt cell
falls earthbound
and dies

Hiding alone in the shadows guarded, trusting no one silently watching, waiting Is life worth living? Can anyone save him? His vision clouded, blurred The sunless skies have him confused Rainfall begins a drenching and soaking rain pours down flooding the autumn bonfires Which blazed in once upon a time with ardent passion in the dense forest of happily ever afters

Six-Word Couplet Series Encore
Aka :- A Romantic dinner

Grapes for wine,
Drink and dine;

Healthy beef pie,
Better than fry;

Baked Alaska pudding,
Very careful cooking;

Biscuits and cheese,
Butter to please;

Black strong coffee,
A mint toffee;

Lying in bed
Make love instead

A longing for new inspiration
I don't write about love
Or happily ever afters
I've never felt a love strong enough
To inspire greatness in me
To move and to motivate
But I've felt the hurt of loss
The crushing depression of betrayal
And the sting of rejection
And then I'm inspired
I write about my inspiration
My sadness and pain
And I hope with each heartache
One day I find love
A love that inspires me
That changes my world
Then I will always write about love...

Sunday Dinner
I love my Sunday dinner
Roast pork and stuffing too
Yorkshire pudding and garden peas
Potatoes not old but new
I'll just look in the oven to see how the pork is doing
Wow what a lovely smell
Do you think you will be coming?
There's apple and mint sauce to add unto the taste
So come and get yourself round here
There is no time to waste
I think I'll have my afters now
Sticky toffee pudding
I might as well finish this off
I don't think anyone's coming

Spam Fritter Again
Being a non meat eater
I'll never eat a spam fritter again,
So why is the special offer on the counter so inviting?
Am I back at school again?
Queuing up for dinner
And hoping for something nice.
No menus then,
Probably just as well,
And the fritters are there
With baked beans and chips,
Treacle tart and custard for afters.
So I'm in the queue
Feeling dippy in the chippy,
Longing for something
I can't really have.
Veggie Spam anyone?
Didn't think so....

Past memories and back flashes,
Sweet reminders that well up the eyes,
On the morning afters,
Of the last nights,
When one wishes hopefully,
Hopes wishfully,
To hold the power of time at ransom,
To relive those moments,
At will, on a whim,
On a dime, at the drop of a hat,
But sadness is inspiring,
Happiness is relative,
Both bring to light,
The true situation at hand,
To love, to hate,
To cry, to laugh,
We all miss and long for,
These memories that represent,
Who we are, our identity.

Mum's Dinner
The boy rides on the pavement
on his mountain bike
across cracked slabs
and tarmac patches
bumps and holes
make him hold tight
whilst cycling home
for his dinner
he pedals faster
dreaming of pizza
or maybe its chips
or possibly both
he's nearly back
in time for his feast
ice cream for afters
or chocolate cake he thinks
his appetite builds
finally he's home
The front door opens
the smell wafts out
Its mum's shepherds pie again
The boy gets back on his bike...
