There is loud angry shouting on our road today
This never happens
We have lived here seventeen years, and I have never heard this
Cars usually go up and down this country road with windows up
My dogs’ ears rise to peaks; they are curious too
I am horrified, realizing I could never beat them to the road rage
Or drag them back, they are too strong and big for me

Insanity

Morning glory,
The mountains stand in brown nudity,
There's no shame in being mighty echoes the wind,
The air is taut with the brooding silence of a storm,
It will rain tears sooner or later,
And the roar of affliction will cut through the silence,
The rage of war will be a din,
Churning cataracts of unceasing wants,
Our hunger refuses to be quenched,
We are obsessed with ambition,
Drunk with desire,
To taste the elusive glory,
Of phantoms dancing on the apex,
Like shifting hues playing charades with overdosed pride,
We chase the wind and fight for the mountains,
Who will speak sense to our senselessness?
Who will stop us from storming the gates into the city of madness?
Who will stop us from claiming the lofty place of dark desire,
As we sit on the throne of insanity?

Cruising in my pickup truck

Seems I might be out of luck

A semi with a heavy load

Just ran my ass off the road

I wonder if he was aware

I doubt he even saw me there

Not much to do at this stage

To help subdue my growing rage

Folks scream, honk and shout like they have no brain
Even in fog and the glare and the rain
Slow down rounding a hill
And you'll wind up road kill
I know I'm bound to be driven insane!

Premium MemberAn Accident

Earwigs from the radio chew past wax to my brain.
Shush shush shush of wipers,
the pasty wheeze of wet cold road cannot distract.
So, my resolve sways left than right, drawing
low back muscles tight, with each argument
breath comes harder. Fists wave as fingers point.
Suited, polished, brass balled men rise between
the road and my eyes,
wail of perfected lies through perfect teeth bring down
barrier after barrier as I am swallowed
in the wide slow maw of death’s valley.

Road Rage

To the left and right of him
crowds raged, protested,
chanted, pleaded, sloganized,
stigmatized and demonized.

The center of the road seemed empty
yet there a child stood alone
irresolutely.

"Mr.," it asked,
"Why do people form groups,
gangs, identifying as ethnic identities, factions
or political opposites?"

( He was an intelligent kid)

"Sonny," he said
patting the little tyke on the head,
"It's because when 3 or more humans
gather together, they get dumb,
they get tribal,
they stop thinking for themselves
and forget to question
the collective view of things."

The boy seemed to consider this,
then yelled "You ain't my dad."
kicking him in the shin.

"Damn anarchist.''
the guy mumbled, limping away.

Engaged In Road Rage

I was driving to work on Monday morn
when behind me I heard a honking horn
A guy's middle finger taunted with scorn,
and that's the moment my road rage was born.

Normally, I'd smile and give him a wave
like I hadn't seen the finger he gave,
but this dude continued to misbehave
and almost rammed me. It was a close shave!

Traffic was slow. There must've been a wreck.
We were barely moving along this trek,
as his face turned red, then so did his neck,
but I didn't cause it, so what the heck?

Then every lane came to a complete stop.
He screamed at me on the highway black top.
I opened my door to jab him a pop...
a Mr. Miyagi karate chop!

He lunged at me, with breath smelling of brew
so, I sidestepped boozy punches he threw.
Can't fight a drunk although I came close to
when he gestured again, yelling, "Screw you!!!"

Hell of a Place

Walking down the road with all the people of my age
Makes me feel like a stranger at this hell of a place
I try to fasten my pace, so I could spare a minute or two of this disgrace
I don't look back I stride till I'm out of their gaze
my eyes on concrete road, my hands on my bag strap
my gaze so unshaken by any mistake of passerby
People shouting at me as I became the reason for their small slip and slide
I don't listen, I don't stop, I stride till I'm out of their sight, out of their mind
They will curse at me saying 'what a mistake in this world is this girl'
I try to hold my tears as it finally sets in me, it could have been my last day at this hell of a place

Premium MemberRoad Rage

It takes two to tango,
as they say.
It also takes two
to road rage.
It sure is fun watching
two insane,
out-of-control knuckleheads
zigzag aggressively
on the highway
with their driver windows down;
honking their car horns,
screaming
vile obscenities back and forth!
Classy guys exchanging "bird flips"
as they chase each other down;
both angry enough
to run each other off the road,
if they ever end up
side by side!
Can you imagine
being caught up in that craziness?
Two banshees on steroids;
funny considering
one can't understand the other.
That's exactly how to communicate!
In the midst
of all the chaotic madness,
me and you; two safe drivers
sharing the road with two idiots
without a care in the world
about the safety of others;
completely oblivious
they're also playing Russian Roulette
with their own lives.
Neither of the two
possessing the presence of mind
to simply disengage
and turn down the heat
before it spells disaster!
Do not tailgate
these uncivilized loons.
Pullover to the shoulder,
or better yet,
take the next exit to safety.

Premium MemberYou and Your Road Rage

You and your Road Rage
Should be locked in a cage
Way back in the Stone Age
   You blacken the Space Age

Each time you go on a rampage
Won't you please try to gauge
How you impact the teen-aged
   You and your Road Rage

Your words are an outrage
   Once released, can't be assuaged
They disgrace your 'Golden Age'
   You and your Road Rage

Road Bully

ROAD BULLY

You really are a putz
You beep, you crowd
Your radio’s loud
You act like such a nut

You really are a pain
You swerve, you brake
For heavens sake
You rarely use your brain

You really think your queen
You text, you read
All while you speed
And then get really mean

A bully is what you are
The swears, the rage
Not acting your age
All this while driving a car

Road Rage
By: Tom Wright

The latest phenomenon
Of “Britches” day and age,
Was his life’s first encounter?
With the tag Road Rage;

It had happened one night
Or was it early morning?
It began without inkling,
Thought, plan, or warning.

“Britches” couldn’t recall
If hour was early or late,
But someone weaving in traffic
Had become his tailgate.

When in his rear mirror
Appeared the tag name “Buck”,
It was attached to the front
Of a primed monster truck;

Before long “Britches” sensed
He’d drawn this hunter’s ire,
For he was closing on his bumper
Like getting there first to a fire.

“Buck” had a gun in his rear window
And a dog box for a load,
“Britches” intently sought an off ramp
To exit that road;

Just when “Britches” thought
“Buck” will cook my goose,
He surmised that “Buck”
Was just some red neck loose?

“Buck” suddenly sped ahead
And with a gesture but not word,
 Gave “Britches” his quarry,
 A single bird?
