Driving alone through the pouring rain,
plenty of time and road to gain,
now who is that nut driving so insane,
it must be a dang lame brain,
Sakes alive! they keep switching lanes!
Why can't they wait 'til the weather wanes!?
All these nuts! done strained my brain,
Complain, complain, blame, blame, blame!

Dramatic Monologue
I board my little metal box early in the dawn,
Adjust my seat, fix my mirror, turn the stereo on,
I love the drive, I live for the day,
And I am generally accepting,
Of all those little experiences,
Life shares with me along the way.
Check my mirrors, watch my speed,
Keep that safe distance that all drivers need,
Tense up my neck, stare into the next car,
Give people intense looks from near, and from afar.
All of the sudden, something within me jumps out,
Did I just curse, did I actually shout?
I’m only going from here to there, just a simple commute,
But there is a collective static that I cannot dispute,
As I glance at the other drivers, with that protruding vein,
From all of the anger, stress, and strain.
They all look like the angry guy in my mirror,
That is staring them right back again.
Break checking, tail gating, horns blowing,
And all of those one fingered salutes,
That my fellow drivers are showing.
Have I lost my mind? Is the traffic beginning to slow?,
Did I just call that little old lady,
A bloated warthog for not staying with the flow?
I finally reached my destination and my patience is gone,
My nerves shot, my anger boiling over, as the day wears on.
Why Oh why do I love to drive,
When just getting there wrecks my day?
I cant point the finger and blame others for my anger,
When I reacted in exactly the same way.
There is a solution to this though,
There is more than one way out,
There is a way to have a good day to this you may score,
Have others drive so you can talk,
Leave earlier and walk,
And of course, that is what a bus route is for.

Road Rage
The sign on the road said stop and turn back
But the driver is listening to his own soundtrack
The noise in his head is messing up his thinking
As he looks at the truck ahead whose lights are blinking
He yells out the window ‘’Are you stupid or what’’
‘’Watch what you’re doing you ignorant clot’’
When he looks back at the road it’s already too late
With his foot to the floor, he meets his fate
I know for I was there on that same road
I was driving a truck with a heavy load
The truck in his way was driven by me
I kept hitting the breaks in the hope he would see
The bridge up ahead had collapsed you see
I did what I could as he sailed by me
He saw my warnings as a hindrance to ignore
Some people are like that when you knock on their door
Don’t worry how they drive, but how you do instead
Watch for the warning lights up ahead
For some roads go nowhere and you need to resist
Because those that seek to travel them will cease to exist

We know all roads lead to Rome
So you drive a posh Motor Home
For goodness sake
Elate your mate
And lose that damn garden gnome!

Light Verse
I remember
Your anger
The way your neck muscles
Stood out
As you cursed my name
You showed up
Uninvited
with your pants
Lower than your hips
Yet
You somehow paced with self assurance
You circled
The parking garage
Chain smoking
Making the concrete ground
Your ashtray
Your heavy clothes
In summer’s heat
Made it easy
To hide
a closed fist
As I allege
The broken headlight
With your name
in the same sentence
From my heart beat
My jaw popping
My hazard lights clicking
Your rap music blasting
through my speakers
I can’t remember
what noise
Stopped first
Or why
You held me close
In your arms
Afterwards
But I drove you home
quietly reaching out to you
To hold your hand
Desperately
Wanting
your warmth
your affection
Instead of suffocating
The thoughts
Of you 2 nights before
Shivering under my sheets
Against my body
As the drugs wore off
But I stayed awake
To make sure
You fell asleep
And also admire
How much I loved
Your company
After I dropped you off
I stared at your house
While multiple friend’s advice
Playing in the background
Their advice caused
My brain
And my heart to argue
For hours that night
And I kinda miss
That part
Cause when I
think of you now
I feel the effects of my insomnia
Creeping in
From consistent phone calls
Every night
At 3am
Taunting
Like you’re constantly poking
At my wounds
With a dull knife
I keep my blinds shut
And my lights off
After work
So you think I’m not home
It gives me time
To try to
fall asleep early
So I’m not startled
As you call
From an unknown number
I get ready for work
The night before now
That way I am prepared
To sprint through
the parking garage
To my car
Every day
And once I catch my breath
And lock the doors
I close my eyes
Turn my headlights on
And hope you won’t be there

Roaring round roads raucously
Orally overtly offending operators
Acrid antagonistic adjectives aired
Defiantly daring distracted drivers
Ranting raving railing
Aggravate annoy atrocious
Gregarious gone Goebbels
Exacerbate engage enrage

Memories of him are still there upon Weymouth Road
his sullen white cross nailed to the old Kauri
symbolize by countless layers of uncaring street wise graffiti,
while burdensome scars revealed by heavy metal grow faint
and the old Rose i placed withered and faded
in the over grown yet still blood stained grass,
a monument still there for the few of us
those that cared those with lives full of guilt
'when you mate ran out of life number nine!'

Road Rage At Wal-Mart
By Elton Camp
It was a task Meg did hate
A shopping cart to separate
After many jerks to pull one apart
Annoyed, shopping she did start
Moving up the produce aisle
Meg had to face her first trial
A cart she couldn’t get around
Angrily at its user she did frown
Picking her beans one-by-one
Was the woman’s idea of fun
Bread aisle was the next delay
Please excuse me, she did say
The customer did only glare
To let her pass she didn’t care
At the eggs, she had to delay
Another cart was in the way
Express Check the sign read
A full cart pushed ahead
Angrily, Meg began to curse
Hit the customer with her purse

What do you see
When you open your ears and hear
The smell of death
Descending upon the valley
Quickly and methodically
Choosing words to fit
The description
While the sketch artist
Chokes them down with a
Lime juice chaser.
Upon completion,
You see a mirror on the desk
And marvel at your own eyes
Gazing intently at your own
Eyes.
Confusion.
How does one project themselves?
Only I recognize me.
I giggle at the self-loathing,
And the pathetic detective work.

Walking down the road with all the people of my age
Makes me feel like a stranger at this hell of a place
I try to fasten my pace, so I could spare a minute or two of this disgrace
I don't look back I stride till I'm out of their gaze
my eyes on concrete road, my hands on my bag strap
my gaze so unshaken by any mistake of passerby
People shouting at me as I became the reason for their small slip and slide
I don't listen, I don't stop, I stride till I'm out of their sight, out of their mind
They will curse at me saying 'what a mistake in this world is this girl'
I try to hold my tears as it finally sets in me, it could have been my last day at this hell of a place

Antiques Road Rage
A country joy ride changed in a moment
An ancient old car, (older than me), takes me on
A simple mission
To work on my English
The words didn’t come to address my anger
So I lifted my fossil like finger….at a gingerly pace….
Out the car window of my turtle-mobile
To communicate my feelings to a fool in the rear
Cutting me off, breaking the rules as he raced
And no signal!..... (What a disgrace!)
So I gave him mine
My middle finger…. (A friendly surprise)
He ranted and raged with colorful words
My car and I are obsolete antiques
No need to curse
We have our ways and know our worth
