I Had a Sweater

I had a sweater
By Richard Rix

I had a sweater
Made from all the colors I know
From family red to traveling green
And a future yellow that would glow

I had a sweater
Made from memories and dreams
Of friends and far off places
Strange symbols covered the seams

I had a sweater
Knitted, stitched, and sown
With images and pictures
Of a world I once had known

I had a sweater
That one day got a hole
It became bigger and bigger
Until it consumed my soul

I had a sweater
That nobody could fix
No doctors or nurses
No masks or swabbing sticks

Now it is gone
My sweater has fallen apart
I am trying to put it together
But I don’t know where to start

Wiki Leaks

Pipelines to Hell.
Orchestrated leaks.
Dangerous data with the potential to explode right in front of their faces...
Or so we would think.
Wiki leaks are sparks of volatile info released on a graphic timeline that hangs in the stinky footlocker of the beast.
You never know which angle of hell's propaganda he'll "expose" next.
Is it another scandalous love affair?
Vladimir P said what?!!!!
Let me check MY references first!!!
I'll have to get back to ya on that one!
Dinosaur fossils of the past brought forward to incite fear today.
Who woulda thunk?
Are you kidding me again?!!!
Bill Gates is actually a distant relative of the Queen?
Someone wake me up from this surreal nightmare.
Wiki leaks.
There is only one authentic thing in this poem...pssst!... It has to do with the Queen.

My Shepherd Watches Over Me

The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want…
The Lord will provide all of my needs…
The Lord will bring me to quiet gentle waters…
The Lord will hush the raging streams…
He will hold me in His arms and allow me to sleep peacefully at night…
He will open my eyes each and every day…
Whatever it is that my existence requires…
The Lord of the Universe is all that I need…
Humbly come before Him upon your knees…
Bring your petitions before His Throne of Grace…
His mercy is given out freely…
Just open up your palms to the sky worshiping the One True God…
He will provide all of your needs.
What a Shepherd we have indeed!

Kenya For Christmas

Ever since I was a little girl I always knew that I would end up in Africa. Angels whispered it to me in my ears. They said to me, "One day you will travel far overseas. You will go and serve the Lord in a far off land." Well, on Christmas morning I leave to go and walk with my friends there; my friends who already share the good news of the Lord's soon arrival. Jesus Christ is the Messiah and He is coming soon.

I long to walk along the streets and share this news with everyone I meet there. They are hungry for the word of God and they are curious who this American lady is too. I stuff my pockets with candy and I put on a comfortable pair of shoes. I float all day long along the sidewalks as the angels serenade my thoughts. What a fantastic calling. What a beautiful land. I love Kenya. It's Jesus' land!

The Tongue

Such a curious creature you are!
Darting around stirring up trouble.
Saying things to bring others down all the while elevating yourself to ecstasy.
You get a ride out of insulting others!
Can you keep your barnyard shut?
Urges overtake you and wildness consumes you like a smoldering fire on the edge of a mighty forest.
When will you ever learn your lesson and be calm like a still stream?
When will you make it through a single day without hurting someone's feelings?
I wish to put a chain on you or seal your movements with super glue.
The less you operate, the better off others will be.
Tongue, when will you learn your lesson?
Will you ever keep your trap shut long enough to hear what others have to say?
Try and give it a rest!
Will ya?
Rest a while so others can be elevated---esteemed.
Go on vacation so a little love can be received.
The tongue.

The Word of God has many wonderful references on how to tame the tongue. A great passage to read is James chapter 3.

A Masterpiece In the Sun

He worked for hours
Spinning and spinning
Concentrating like he never had before
This was the most important web he had ever spun
And the sun was due to rise in about an hour
Silken strands all arranged in the most spectacular mosaic
A stained glass window without any colors
Shiny and sophisticated
Fragile yet exuding strength
His mosaic was the Best of the Show

As the sun began to crest over the tall pines
The spider's heart began to race a million miles a minute
He held his breath and hoped that this would be the greatest Rembrandt of his life
The other creatures gathered around
Inspecting the art work of the very worn spider
Applause! Applause, again and again!
They liked it and it was just a simple flower
He spun the most delicate flower he had ever saw which sat adjacent to his most elegant web
He wanted to capture a moment in time
A moment when the dew hit the petals of the dainty flower that he had inspected for hours over the past few days
Now he had scored a home run with his forest friends
An almost exact replica of his adoring flower

Wisdom

Wisdom is a charm that I wear closely around my neck

I hold it firmly and study it when I feel challenged by the day's events

I understand from Whom I have received this gift

He delivers unto me each deep breath

I inhale and savor the air I breathe

And slowly discover that I am nothing without the wisdom of God

Wisdom is a cavern

It goes on forever and ever

If you yell loud enough an echo will emerge and fill your heart

Telling you things that you never dreamed of

Wisdom is a pearl

It cannot be found unless you are meant to find it

It must then be polished and placed in a special container

Because the world will take it and it will lose its luster

It is not meant to be mishandled

It is meant to be cared for with the rest of the delicate things

Wisdom is found only through the guidance of our Creator

It is a gift and is not to be taken for granted

He chooses carefully who He delivers it to

Often times we wait until it's way overdue

Sometimes He hand delivers it

Wisdom.

If Your Heart Were a Pillow

It’s time to close my eyes and go to sleep and all I can think of is your magnificent heart. It is soft and sensitive and cradles my thoughts. It’s the topic of most of the conversations in my head. “Your heart is the most beautiful in the universe!” I said. I long to lay down on it like a soft pillow for the rest of my life. I can even hear its ever constant pace. It pitters and patters until my lashes softly close. It’s like a smooth ticking clock that is wound for eternity.

If your heart were a pillow I would rest my hair on it each and every night. I would never share it with a single soul. I would nestle up close to it and for once my life would seem whole. Every pain in my life would be instantly erased. If only your heart were my pillow my life would seem whole.

The Sky Painter

I ran out to see You this evening.
To see the spectacular image that You painted just for me.
Every night it is something unique and designed with the greatest effects.
Splashes of love and compassion with the waning of a coral blue sky.
The perfect sunset to close out my day.
A glorious exclamation mark against varying crimson lights.
You are my Picasso as a stare up at the sunset.
I stand in awe and begin to sing you a lullaby.
I lift up my praise to the greatest Sky Painter of all time.
You are the Mighty King who longs to come back and sweep Your holy children off their feet.
You keep drawing us closer and closer to Your Heart each and every day.

I wonder as I stand here at dusk…
How many more sunsets until I get to look into Your eyes?
I know you are looking down from Your throne as I stand here in awe of Your perfect painting tonight.

My 25 Hour Day

If I could just have more time!

There is never enough hours in the day!

Going here and going there.

No time for a breath of fresh air!

If I could reinvent the clock I would do things differently.

I would add an extra hour of time.

I would scramble like a high octane woman.

Just to enjoy this 25th hour of mine!

I would use this hour to soak up more sunshine.

To stand amidst the shade trees.

To listen to the awesome sounds of nature.

To roll around in a pile of autumn leaves!

I would selfishly savor this extra hour.

Not sharing it with anyone else.

But just to take some time with my Creator.

And unravel from the stress of this life.

The 25th hour would be all mine.

I could do with it whatever I please.

The rest of the world would have to place their clocks on hold.

Just so they could catch up with me!

My Psalm of Praise

Dance for the Lord all throughout the day!
Sing a beautiful song unto our King!
How many sunsets til He arrives in the skies?
How many days til the trumpets sound?
How can I keep this God of mine to myself?
He needs proclaimed to the masses.
He is worthy of all our praise!
I sing a beautiful song unto the King of Glory!
How many notes are crowded in my heart ready to burst out in exaltation?
Each measure has more melodies than I can count or record.
I sing a million scores of love for my King.
Vibrato, crescendo, decrescendos,… each unfolding in perfect succession.
Pouring out all of my emotion at His nail-scarred feet.
Come quickly, Lord Jesus, come.
My heart is waiting on You.

His Peace

His peace floods my soul. It consumes the cracks and crevices of my life and polishes my heart like a rare ruby. A peace that cannot be bought or even held. It is too great to comprehend and it is too enormous to place a lid on it.

Who can behold the peace of God? Who can understand its origin? It swings to and fro and it gallops like a mighty stallion to all corners of the earth. As the children of God reach up and ask for the guidance of their Creator the peace is poured out like a mighty waterfall upon their heads. It cradles our essence with the still calmness of the crystal sea. It envelops our hearts and gives us power to go on.

The peace of Yeshua. The peace of the Almighty God. Come and drink from the fountain and receive His everlasting peace.

Amen in Jesus’s name.

Sunset In Jerusalem

How many more sunsets until You set sail for me?

How many more nights of restlessness?

I long for my King.

I yearn for my heart to be scooped up into my Savior's arms and high tail it off this planet.

I smell the most eloquent scents in my spirit for the Marriage Supper Banquet.

Even the majestic palms outside the Damascus Gate dance with excitement.

The wind moves my hair and the birds gleefully sing.

It's as though I am the only one here energized for Your coming.

Why aren't there festivals in the streets?

Why aren't there balloons and banners celebrating the return of the King?

The chants from prayer towers are heard in the distance.

No one on this planet can steal the joy of this moment.

The ecstasy of this sunset.

Shades of coral against a clear turquoise sky.

Sitting here worshiping my King.

The reason for my existence.

Keeping Your Cool

Angry hearts

Frustrated with broken dreams

When will this chaos cease?

I chose to hold my tongue til tempers cool

Counting to ten out loud in my heart

Screaming on the inside

Slow to speak, quick to listen, even slower to anger

Awaiting the other side of this rainbow to bring restoration

Help us, dear Lord!

We can't get through this ordeal without your guidance and peace

You are Peace and You are the Great Deliverer for those who diligently seek You

We are seeking you, our Best Friend

Deliver us from this storm once again
