Cough Remedies

Psychological means are not enough
when you have a persistent cough.
If you try to will it to stop,
you'll flip  your lid or your top.
I wouldn't recommend a drop.  It
won't work and syrup won't stop it,
unless its ingredient is codeine.
Then, you'll sleep well if you know what I mean.

We always have enough choice

Ethel's Remedies

Her name was Ethel....(yes, like the gasoline)
She smelled of menthol...(much like Vick's Vaseline)
A long time neighbor, from down the lane
She was married twice...(or was it thrice?)...
A widowed lady, we knew her well

A bit disgruntled, and a bit dismantled
A bit unusual.....a bit disturbed
and most the time, seemed quite perturbed!!
And as a kid....of her, I feared!

If I ever discover the essence of happiness
I am going to bottle it
just like a Bach flower remedy
happiness in little brown bottles with yellow labels

Then I’ll stand on street corners
handing out free samples 
 
People would take it home
pouring it into an incense burner
and the fragrance of happiness
will fill their homes
they will be reminded
