Lucky kids

I wish we were still young and brave
Playing around and run all day
We would eat our lunch and go out to play
Climb tall trees and to God we would pray

We would scream at night playing hide and seek
We would hurt our knees and dive into a creek 
And we had bruises all over our bodies

More

I am poor but still want more.
I get a job but still want more.
I go to parties but still want more.
I buy everything but still want more.
I try a hobby but still want more.
I raise a family and don’t need more anymore.

Reckless Abandon

            in a reckless abandon, hordes of biutterflies 
float playfully about the heath on spring noon without a care;
      many lovers wish their hearts could be just as free!

Summer Never Lasts

what if what we had was temporary
a momentary glance of happiness
of freedom
of joy 
of reckless youth
a time of love and carelessness

maybe that was where our memory is supposed to stay


maybe it wasn’t meant to continue on into this decade.



Maybe the sun never rose up again after it set that summer.

The Choices She Made

She stood beside him, vows once true,
a promise bright, then burned right through.
She wore his ring, she spoke his name,
but love to her was just a game.

I saw the distance in her eyes,

Lingering emotions, restless thoughts,
