The old book lies open
as if it finally gave up
trying to hold its spine straight.
A faint mustiness rises~
not unpleasant, just honest.
Someone left wildflowers on the page,
thin stems crossing the margin
like they wandered in
and didn’t bother to leave.
A few petals rest on the sentence
that once meant something important.
Raindrops cling to the blossoms,
small bright beads
that look as though the sky
paused long enough
to add its own commentary.
The words underneath don’t complain;
they simply share the space,
letting the flowers speak
in their quiet, wordless way.
For a moment,
the whole thing feels accidental
and perfectly right~
a story meeting what grows
without needing permission.
A HAPPY RAINY DAY
Sad skies shedding tears,
Bright shining sun passes by—
The sky is rainbowed:-
Jack on a rainy day, went on his toes
To show his bravery to friends and foes
He sang,danced,hopped,jumped and smiled
He slipped hard,though rarely styled
With back upside and downside with flat nose
Tingles, excites.
Torments to know
More of, these, new to it.
At a window.
To feel, suffer
Alike again!
One such child; pleads, waits out
To stop, the rain.
Clouds
mind so
cloudy, waiting for
that one day, sunny
but why feels like windy
and eyes so rainy all day.
rain drops like tear drops
gather on windows pane
isolation blues
(Thomas Kinkade painting)
panorama picturesque
architecture statuesque
Monterey pine trees
tints that appease
flowering hedges
with watery edges
a couple buying flowers
children enjoy the showers
a cyclist slow rides
running dog by her side
hawkers
gawkers
colourful cars
a painted pause
a man reading
a canvas rain-bleeding
a Carmel scene lifelike
this is how peace looks like
Warm tea.
Cozy blanket.
Rain falls on the roof.
Fire blazing.
Being lazy
because
that's important too.
Why do rainy days inspire rest?
Today it may be that I woke up at 4am,
other days it could be that the sound
of rain is relaxing and sleep inducing
but I think rain touches humans deeply
and nourishes the soul
We don't need rain to grow like plants do,
but we do need rest and rain inspires rest
and reflection, and puts a barrier up
to some types of work
Rest and reflection, both inspire poets
A rainy day brings introspection.
It slows down time around us all.
A rainy day exudes calm.

On cool rainy days
I like to slow down
to millions of droplets
kissing the ground
The dry thirsty Earth
is quenched and relieved
from the hot and dry season
by which she was grieved
The rhythmic raindrops
massaging my mind
satisfy my soul
and help me unwind
On cool rainy days
with a hot cup of tea
and a pen in my hand
I'm finally free
To write down my thoughts
in meter and rhyme
on cool rainy days
so peaceful, sublime

Really it should be days of rain, but
Against all odds the sun will shine again,
It’s as if the weather forecaster
Nicely tries to cheer me up,
Yet the rain still comes down.
Depression loves the gloom
Any joy is quickly drowned,
Yet the weather forecaster
Still insists the sun will shine again.
new friend
discovery
seeing hidden wonders
turning the unknown toward light
revealed
it never fails
I leave the house
without umbrella
without raincoat
only to get caught
in a downpour
and by the end
of the day the
wetness leaves
me cold and
heavy and
in need of a
dry place to rest
for awhile
these rainy days
come more
frequently as
time goes by
and sometimes
seem to go on
forever and I
am no more
prepared for
the next as I
was for the last
the rain is
coming down
outside
it never fails
coffee on back deck
till raindrops start to collect
my birthday kiss
