Dedicated to Stuart A. Staples

I want to break someone's little finger
In three places

Give me strings on a hollow wooden body
Crumpled suits and apprehension

The warbler, the jongleur
The slur, the trill, the quaver

I can only serenade in that way
Without drop z tuning

Barmonies and mashed taters
Send in the French horn

Alone in the living room
The air conditioner remote

Engrossed and enthralled in the music
The dog watching me

Premium Member It is To Be

This is to be,
a seed yet sown,
a deed yet done
a whisper on tongue
a kiss becoming
an echo sent
a gift bought
a line cast
a promise made
a wink of eye
a smile on lips
a touch on skin
fingers meet
a glint, a glimmer
a ripple, a quaver
orange glow at dawn
a breath of wind
a whiff of scent
footsteps
creak of gate
knock on door
hum of tune
distant bells
chimes of time
ticks, tocks of clocks
bird calls, howls
the smell of food
This is what can,
and is To Be.

Limerence

A stream of music flows through my mind
Petals picked, torn, ripped, from a disc
I can’t remember the last time it’s been tuned
Do I remember how to hum with intent so quick?
Or can I continue with this stream of fabrication,
Sewing its way into stuck keys
All the notes felt of a familiar off white marrow
Though the harmony cannot squeeze,
Through something so narrow
I’m sorry for the confusion,
of a backwards quaver
With gentle consideration
I’ll allow our love to waiver

Queenly green wings cover
Quivering red belly.
Quick to find holes in trees,
Quiet there for safety.
Quite vocal while mating,
Quaver slurred notes in songs.
Quaint bird of Mayan cult.

Premium Member Loyalty

Loyalty shines like a beacon in the night
It guides us through the darkness and gives us light
It's a trust that can never be taken away
It's a bond that will never decay

Loyalty is like a river that runs deep
It's a strength that will never sleep
It's a bond that can never be broken
It's a promise that will never be spoken

Loyalty is like a mountain that stands tall
It's a bond that will never fall
It's a faith that will never waver
It's a strength that will never quaver

Loyalty is like a flame that will never die
It's a bond that will never lie
It's a trust that will never waver
It's a strength that will last forever.

Premium Member Soothing Song

the prime sigh of the waning twilight
beetle larva gazes at the bright delight
waves of a sleek quaver in a fit sight
She soars towards the azure sky
morphs into the golden syllables
singing of a tawny moon
rouse the tangled yearnings of the soul
whispered hue of a jubilee soothing song

Shaking Like a Leaf

Shaking like a leaf
Won’t make you a chief,
Never takes one to the top,
Never a popular prop;
Would rather one drop
And one’s mission flop …

Never for centuries A Lever,
Even slightly harms The Liver;
Therefore not a prize from its giver …

So, on no account whatsoever
Must your decisions waver
Nor at the sight of foes quaver
As neither is a saver
Nor you portray as clever.

The One Who Pays the Piper

Pipe me a tune I can dance to
Or play a lament, as of old.
And pipe you a song
Serenely and strong
For then, I will pay you in gold.

Pipe, at the early of morning
Just as the sun forces through.
Then stand you alone
And quaver your tone
For a sovereign, I'll offer to you.

Pipe, at the lull of the evening,
Play you the sweetest refrain.
As darkness is cast
You pipe you your last
For I shall not pay you again.

Nessun Dorma

A gentle hand upon my skin
To balm my sleeping soul within
A fragile brushing 'gainst my face
Adorns my soul with air and grace.
The kindest, mildest, tender touch
Subdues my soul to mind too much
The quaver of my joyful heart
As all my anguish blows apart.
And in the fluent light of morn
A freshness in my soul, reborn,
Where thoughts bygone, should I partake,
May kiss my brow as I awake.

An October Afternoon Beauty

The leaf blower sweeps the damp leaves-
they swirl, spin-a congregation of tiny fluttering wings-whose colors are of a light grey storm- cloud awash in an October apricot- gold sunset.

The dead leaves flap like the quick quaver of the wings of the Hummingbird, although its delicate hover is solitary.

Within a sunlit afternoon a Hummingbird alit on a branch in a tree in an Autumn bloom..was still..almost like a miniature inanimate bird, yet zoetic, of course. The winged reptile was the hue of a morning sea.

And the Hummingbird’s beauty transformed into a light perch on the limb of the fully
flushed tree, for the weight of the bird did not bend the dove-tinted branch, not at all.

The tree is now bursting with deep ruby berries. Its slender branch, a "finger" that held the blue-silvery Hummingbird last Summer now lies upon a mass of mocha orange chips.

A tiny beast with sunflower eyes and sorrel-leucous dusky hues spots and chases the culled bony sprig as it is towed by her human. With this tiny leafless limb the cat is lured into her home.

A few dying leaves fall, drift gently, quiver, and rest on the grass. The leaf-blower...

tall among rich loosen soil
      scent slight quaver throughout spoiled
sunshine fields, warm smiles it yields

milk pearls trickle drip on silk
      nature whispers season turn
         tall among rich loosen soil

   leaves lay face downward unturned
gnarl old tree kneels its amber
beetle strength squirms in its murk

   darkness abandons the moon
curled up in heavens warm croon

            happiest hours unrevealed

Premium Member The Knowing

All being one, we know there is no other
Why then do we shiver, looking into the mirror
Fickle thoughts quaver and shaky in our voice tenor
Scars borne of fears and desires, causing hearts tremor

As the one became two and then the two multiplied as many
In delusion of separateness, each continued its journey
Floundering hither and tighter in egos penitentiary
Oblivious to freedom in stillness sedentary

Thoughts kinetic, in perpetual motion
Birthing myriad illusions, genesis of delusion
Vibrant void of polarity interchange in each vibration
Unfettered attention fixated therein offers us instant liberation

Humble Realm

A girl with an earthen jar, (;)
Dim clouds, feels stormy mad.
Long and winding road so far!
Yet arise their crops so glad.

Brisk steps fording a brook,
Skies roar makes quaver voice.
She pass with an eager look,
Now a damsel with a poise!

At the clothesline, there she goes.
Hasty and rash oh rain drops!
Will the stream overflows?
And muse, fond of ripple grasps.

Oh dancing with them please dreams,
If still further she'll sing.
But a ray to reckon gleams,
The mountain's truth is rising.

Premium Member Running From

Creep of extremism leaches in bloodstream, numbing
Route of innate thought unpenetrated, retains nothing
Sacred to the self, - stiff agendas pose as omniscient
Obscures own findings, carves our fragile opalescent

Ignores the phosphor we all hold, outlooks pertinent
Absorbs with proffer of doctrines contract penchant
Squashed compulsion, thwarted inside tight quarter
Squeezes dry the yearn for a gyrated circuit's quaver

Penance is a method administered by axiom rations
Ranks routinely recant individual's intuition ravishing
Shrouded rigmarole causes comprehension to shrivel
Oppresses pirouette quick swing of our mind's swivel
