A firm`s board met today, all stern faces,
To discuss sales and quarterly places;
Some slides flashed up with complex graphs so grand,
Nobody grasped the impact of their brand,
They nodded quick, with furrowed brow, their head,
Pretending to understand all instead;
The CEO discoursed, with booming sound,
Of synergy and newer ground they'd found;
I, a fly on the wall, observed with smiles
The hollow words, the lies and practised guiles.
Squiggly lines, short and tall lines. Back in a classroom eating a box lunch with Donna, my attentive husband and other strangers.

This old geezer is multitalented
I'm able to talk and chew gum at the same time
Can even spit nickels while singing Moon River
Okay enough about this talented old soul
I'd like to hear what extraordinary talents you guys have
Let's keep it clean though
Little kiddies or sensitive old nannies
May have stumbled across the site
While searching for a recipe for French Canadian Pea Soup
Raunchy is permitted BUT
Only when describing the love habits
Of the Northern Hairy-Nosed Wombats of Australia
Their nose is very important in their survival
Since this creature has very poor eyesight
And needs its nose to smell food and other things in the dark
I have long since had that ability
Now aren't you glad you tuned in
So let me know what weird and scary talents you guys have
And I'll write a poem about it
May even get published in the quarterly edition of “Poetry Weekly”
Ta-Ta!
When is a newsletter not a newsletter
When it's full colour and 36 pages long
That was 12 years ago when I began designing it
It was a 4-page black and white newsletter
It has since grown into this schmaltzy
Quarterly full colour community publication
I've always taken great pride
In every venture I've become involved with
Now in my years since retirement
Once again had my fingers back in the pie
It has given me “raison d'être”
Translated... “a reason for being”
My only regret is that it's quarterly
Instead of monthly as I would have preferred
It is so very important to remain active
Any way we can in our retirement years
…Dunder Mifflin
actions not mortifying
suddenly
the voice of a sportscaster
erupts
with the time of day
giving
the time of day
quarterly
…Mash
not a lover’s quarrel
but
like Burns and Houlihan
together
to screw with “the cast”
…Priestly
but the devil
was tattooed on an arm
scaring
the hell out of us
causing
us to retreat
like boxers to our corners
…Hart
not sexual
but sleazy
an occasional liar
at
his desk, I
saw past his
Pinocchio nose
he’d
not get fired
but
our 9 to 5
was a little kinder
…Slater
but schemed
to make her own team
it
wasn’t Betty
that was ugly
…Me
for to be the boss
would mean
I’d have to drive
the machine
not
be sent off a cliff
…a novel opportunity
but

"Halcyon moments are privileges for the destitute.", by the poet
The nectarous voices are whispering bye,
as seasons substitute one for the other,
remodeling landscapes harmoniously,
~~subtle surrenders,
A balmy brush of sand granules shifts a beach,
while warm bodies lie are gloriously blessed,
ere a quarterly sunset soothingly sound,
~~humid loses fair,
Pastoral renders reconciliation,
as a glamorous nature fluctuates gleam,
anon vividness slowly acquiesces,
~~restful greenroom folds,
Milk-warm coolly sedates creaminess cascades,
cushioning mellow fields of snowy delights,
entreating eyes amidst shimmering pleasures
~~picturesque shuffles.

Grandpa T. Squirrel was a put together guy for sure.
G.Q. Quarterly was his magazine of choice, so pure.
He was dapper and debonair, a dancing escort with flair.
Women squirrels sighed longingly when his scent was in the air.
Grandpa T. taught his grandchildren to walk with pride and love.
He reminded them that Grandma Squirrel watched them from above.
They knew he would never again marry, for he was still hitched.
He lived to be twenty-seven, and this fact is true, no glitch.
But while he was on earth, he gave many hearts a sigh.
They thought he was marvelous, a truly wonderful sweet old guy.
Grandma Squirrel waited patiently until it was his time to go.
He was a dandy, for sure. All of us agree, and many others know.

Seasons
quarterly change
I love the transition
with wild temperature contrasts
from hot sizzling sunshine
to freezing cold
such bliss!
Seasons
quarterly change
new growth appears on trees
beautiful flowers start blooming
nature rejuvenates
days get longer
each spring
Seasons
quarterly change
annual vacation
on a glorious golden beach
enjoy time outdoors in
scorching sunshine
summer
seasons
quarterly change
foliage starts to fall
twirling leaves of red and orange
we warm by the fire as
nights get colder
autumn
Seasons
quarterly change
some bitterly cold days
flurries of snowflakes start falling
kids build big snowmen and
dress warmly in
winter

Her Preference
by Michael R. Burch
Not for her the pale incandescence of dreams,
the warm glow of imagination,
the hushed whispers of possibility,
or frail, blossoming hope.
No, she prefers the anguish and screams
of bitter condemnation,
the hissing of hostility,
damnation's rope.
Published by Romantics Quarterly and Poetry Life & Times.
