If we are just friends, why go the extra mile to put a smile on my face?
If we are just friends, why put more effort into spending time with me?
If we are just friends, why put yourself in my shoes?
If we are just friends, why involve yourself in my business?
If we are just friends, why get yourself worked up when other men are around me?
If we are just friends, then why do you look at me in that special way?
If we are just friends, then why take me out on all those dates?
If we are just friends, then stay far from my bed.
If we are just friends, then why the jealousy that surfaces often?
If we are just friends, then why gaze at me with such loving eyes?
Or am I just lost in a swirl of confusion?
If we are just friends, remove yourself from my thoughts,
If we are just friends, cease visiting me in dreams,
If we are just friends, halt the texts after 10,
If we are just friends, please stop making me feel like I'm losing my mind,
Right now, I'm on the edge of losing myself, uncertain of where I stand in your life,
If we are just friends, clarify it, rather than making me fall and then disappearing abruptly.
Hello my name is Tobias I am sixteen years old.
I’ve been a little bit naughty, but I always did what I was told.
My Daddy was my hero, I sure miss him now that he’s gone.
He got sick from cancer, and last year he passed on.
I have three younger sisters and a mother who doesn’t care.
She finally stopped using drugs, but she still doesn’t want us there.
We’ve been split up in the system, there wasn’t a family that could take us all.
I haven’t seen my siblings, since that dreaded night last fall.
Put yourself in my shoes, please try and comprehend.
I no longer have a home, my family or my best friend.
Now you know my story, when you pass me out on the street.
I am my father’s son, alone I stand on my own two feet.
*This is a true story about one of my wife's foster children*
She is a Social Worker for Foster Care
Take time to know me, and you will see
That I am nothing like what you have heard spoken of me.
Give me a chance and I will prove to you
That although I am not perfect,
I have a heart that is pure and true
Take time to know me; just give it a try.
You will see that we are not that much different, you and I.
I make mistakes, don't you?
But if you judge me by mine, expect that you will be judged by yours too.
Take time to know me,
you have nothing to fear.
Unless you wish to hang on to
what you have been told by your peers.
Just for a minute put yourself in my shoes.
How would you feel if someone was going by the rumors they have heard about you?
Take time to know me;
what have you got to lose,
Besides the so called friends who have got you confused?
I am not asking you to choose between me and them,
And if they really care about you, they will always be your friends.
Take time to know me is all I ask,
No great feat or extraordinary task.
Then if you don't like me,
It will be because of what you have seen and heard for yourself
And not because of what you have been told by someone else.
Don’t change me for you
If i cannot fit into your box of mystery
Then don’t change me for you
I am who i am for what i am
I am who i am for what i choose to be
I choose to step in every way that satisfies me
And yet who are you to still try to change me
Into being what you want me to be
Don’t change me for what you know will never
Meet my standard and advantage as a human
Never take your time in trying to correct my every move
And everything that i seem to be doing
Why does it seem like you find everything i do at fault
And yet who are you trying to change me
Put yourself in my shoes and walk a mile you will notice
Don’t need a corrector
Don’t change me in order to be like you because we are never meant to be alike and there is a valid reason we are not alike
Don’t change me for you
During the past weeks I’ve been having mental leaks,
Over situations
Can’t force anyone to eat,
I even had to question my manhood
It was too easy for me to weep,
Struggling with extreme discomfort
It’s like having sores under my feet.
Tried very hard but the willingness couldn’t meet,
And now I’m viewing it through the rear,
Where did I go wrong?
Did I actually go wrong?
Can’t seem to get an answer
Same old song
Being pushed to the curb
All night long
Lionel Ritchie,
I preferred if she danced on the ceiling
Rather than see me here
Then attempt to skip me.
Double Dutch
Jumping around the main issues,
Take a second
Can you put yourself in my shoes?
Am I over reacting?
Or simply too dumb to take cues?
It’s hard for me to sit idle while watching you lose
That ******** you claim it’s not an excuse
You are a project for abuse
Your aura is becoming loose
I hear you loud and clear
I should have known what to do.
Yeah I know,
we've been here before.
Yet I find myself wandering again.
Not knowing which way to go.
Dwelling in my thoughts.
I know it raises questions, debates, and even arguments.
And I don't like the arguments. I would rather argue with you
than have a pleasant conversation with someone else.
But the thing is, its still what I deal with. Its still on the mind.
Not because I want it to be the topic, but because it
involves everything I do in my life. MY life.
I know its easy to try to put yourself in my shoes, but its not the same.
And I cant say the same thing about me putting myself in your place.
It would be a nice theory, but we both know that's not how the world works.
We think differently.
But I know that everything that has happened to me did so for a reason.
So let the fighting continue.
... this poem needs a little something...
That's way more to me then nothing
it needs empathy from you to me
because you need to see
everything i go through
just to see you
but i would do so much more
to make you come through that door
and say yes
and worry me less
because i'm crazy for you baby
and maybe,just maybe
you mite feel that way to
and the put yourself in my shoes
just so that you can see
how much it would mean to me
if you said yes
and cut out all this mess
so i want you to answer honestly to me
could you actually see
how much i want to be with you
so don't deny me and make me boo
just say yes
and then ill bless
all the things that made you say it
and maybe for just a bit
we can just sit under the stars
hand in hand looking for mars
and all those stars would shine
so.... will you be mine?
The truth came out-
So much to spill,
but it's how I feel.
Tired of hiding,
tired of lying.
I know your disappointed in me,
but why can't you just leave it be?
God knows I meant no harm,
it even shows on my arm.
On my knees begging for mercy,
but do I deserve it?
All I ask is to be forgiven,
but can it be forgotten?
Just take baby steps and I promise I'll show you,
what's it gonna take to get this through to you?
Put yourself in my shoes,
Now you see I can't choose.
Sometimes i wished i was never born,
This life so empty and cruel.
The thought of being left alone,
Then feeling like a fool.
Now put yourself in my shoes,
And try to feel it too.
The anger, hate and bitterness,
That left me feeling blue.
Now live a life without,
The love of a parent.
The sadness from within,
So lonely but patient.
So how long does it take,
To slowly become detached.
A year, two or three,
Who really know's the fact's.
Now you know how i felt,
Throughout my entire life.
That is of course before i met,
The one my beautiful wife.
If the shoes were on the other foot
tell me how would you react.
Working behind the scene was a
Major stab within my back.
To sit down and communicate
would been more honorable for you to do.
Instead you went behind my back
this was not kind of you.
Yet we call ourselves sisters and friends
when we are face to face.
But I’m seeing another story
when I find items left out of place.
I’m trying so hard to let it go
and move on with my life.
But every time I hear your voice it brings
this issue back a live.
I’m really trying hard to lay this issue
at my Savior’s feet.
But I’m finding in this area
my soul is very weak.
I know deep down within my heart
I must find forgiveness.
If it continues to ride
it certainly will be a killer.
I woke up today
and realized that you're gone.
I miss you and your smile,
but somehow it all feels wrong.
It's like I love you
but I wanna stop.
My heart is something more than
a lifeless glop.
You say you love me
and I know it's a lie.
Put yourself in my shoes,
you're more than just that average guy.
You're everything to me,
Just wish you could really see.
