Countless desires breed in my heart,
Countless aspirations take wing
from the soul of my mind;
Each aspiration has a spirit of its own
Each aspiration rides on
the wings of dream raring to soar
Each aspiration yearns to traverse
the heavens and seek its abode,
Each desire demands
the price of a lifetime
Each desire needs to be
nourished with the sap of life
Each desire yearns to be
brought to fruition—
Tearing the heavens asunder
Parching the oceans dry
Veering a staid traveler astray,
Yet, the heart aspires in vain
All its longings futile
All its efforts unavailing…
Each desire takes my breath away!

First buds emerge in velvet cocoons
As dank, dark mornings transform
Into frost clad, bright, clean-aired dawns.
Grass laden heavy with dew,
Nectar of nature to sustain awakening creatures.
From deepest winter slumbers,
To drink deep the anticipation held in each drop.
Static in the air, in our hair, as crunched grasses
Make way for warming days, milky moons,
And pearlescent sun shards melting
The cold of winter soil.
Grass, long since recoiled after long summer
Parching, burnt and bruised,
Now tender and sweet, shoots pushing
Up through the loamy layers of frost bitten ground.
The scents of spring, almost imperceptible
Yet nonetheless I feel them set my belly to flight
The excitement for some unknown event,
As though a celebratory feast,
Honoured to be invited to.
Tingling in extremities, no longer from cold
But now in joy, in pleasure,
In the fruitfulness we know to come to pass,
When spring finally announces her arrival
Once more.

Autumn delights sporting red dye
Painting meadows in crimson themes
Charming thrills of amorous dreams.
Where parching breaths of maple sigh
Zephyrs groove lilting amber breeze
Swaying rhythms of colorful trees.
How season’s golden passions vie
Waltzing glamor of stolen glance
As leaves chromatic whirl, and dance.
Sights lovesome gazing sapphire sky
Frolic with stars of moonlit night
Lauding sparkles of twinkles bright.
Hoisting desires of romance high
Venus smiles gawking lovers kiss
Boosting tempo of autumn's bliss.
Autumn delights sporting red dye
Where parching breaths of maple sigh,
How season’s golden passions vie
Sights lovesome gazing sapphire sky
Hoisting desires of romance high.

It’s hit or miss, or so it seems:
a stroll beside well-watered streams,
then all about, a parching drought.
Some days, cavorting in the sun;
on others, nary see a one,
producing doubt when they’ll be out.
But when it seems that things are worse,
sunlight breaks through, the clouds disperse,
and tender verses start to sprout.

Lifeless shiver the decaying meadows
Where blizzards of winter exact a toll,
Freezing foliage in autumnal throes;
Dimming ambitions of parching knoll.
Golden beams glimmer dreams of dawn
Soothing miseries of trembling night,
Now that splendorous autumn is gone,
Sprinkling delight on withering blight.
Season of snows flaunts nature aglow
Where rivers freeze, struggle to flow,
Prairies enliven, donning falling snow;
While mountaintops adorn glacial glow.

Orange fire-blazoned indigo sky
crackling the night’s desperate cry,
leaving the hot wind’s breath pursy.
Oh my sweet Lord, please have mercy.
Rising flames painted the dawn’s light,
no oasis, no ease in sight,
leaving the barren earth thirsty.
Oh my sweet Lord, please have mercy
Night fell with enflamed full moon.
Both flora and fauna fell swoon,
corporeal controversy.
Oh my sweet Lord, please have mercy.
Abundant water covered the night
granting reprieve from parching blight,
reviving life; bear gramercy.
Thank the sweet Lord for His mercy.

As the golden sun rays
Seeped into my room
From the cherry sky
In a spell of crimson reverie
I saw…
On the table a bed of
Resplendent rose
In the bowl of boiled eggs
Scintillating strawberries
In the glass of milk
Winsome wine
All I consumed
With dreamy delight.
As I went out
I saw…
Leaning on the wall stood
My old bicycle
With watermelon wheels
I took a fantasy ride through
The hot summer wind
Parching me to the core
As the wheels turned
The sweet juice sprinkled
And I drank the pink delicacy
At the journey’s edge of fancy.

.
Their faces lifted skyward,
The flowers drink in the rain.
Wilted yesterday, they welcome
This beautiful overcast day.
Too many lovely warm weeks,
Too many sunny skies and
Parching dry weather,
But finally, teardrops from heaven
Fall into their open mouths,
Trickle down their throats
And soak their feet, as if
There is a Being up there that
Cries for their pain and suffering,
In gratitude, they stand straighter
And wave their leafy arms
And smile at passersby,
Who frown at this unwelcome
Interruption to their vacation.

old, aeolian rauks! a rugged cliffy coast...
foamy splash of the sea azure in tumult, uproarious tide!
tentacular visions i behold
from deep Charybdis depths...
the eyestalks of giant ocean-snails
broadcast watery apocalypse
a halatinous parching of viperfish throats
murmur thick vibrations
from abyssal floor...

Blazing sun with horrid heat waves
Parching leaves and shallow brooks
Earth scorched like a frying pan
At once, a depression in the ocean
Cold winds, convectional rains chill weather
Miraculous nature always surprises me.

My evening sky glints motifs gold
In orange vibes turned ruby bold
Glowing remnants of shining snow
Where pewter winds merrily blow
Swirling imprints of amber glaze
Bending hues of setting sun rays
Prairies sway season’s dreaded hold
Wailing in grief, as blossoms fold,
For fallen leaves and wintry woe
That shudders trees in frosted throe
While browning pastures cattle graze
Where foothills gleam in twilight haze
When fervor yawns in dreary mold
And garden sighs of parching cold
Pine trees, ebullient, dance in row
Enchanting hearts in nature’s show
While ogling the stars passions blaze
As romance blooms in moonlit gaze
On horizon mauve dreams unfold
Where blush of morn lovers behold
Greeting November's scarlet glow
That tawny dawn's sunbeams bestow
Glistening face of shortened days
Wooing warmth in autumn's malaise

I shall but ignore* the parching sun
And race with tousles of duskfall's groove,
this free-fall surrender* to unknown escapades...
Then weightless like a carefree rhythm
Of a tide ebbing its murmured sigh--
This final brilliance quiets my indulgence,
A riot of pirouttes swinging
without logic or explanation. I am unperturbed,
Ending a night’s frolic through a beamed trance.

Rising up from the ashes
A long and desolate desert lays before me
The parching heat
The dry morning sun
The promise of another long and lonely day
Seems all-enveloping
A fire smolders in the distance
Smoke is rising in a thick
Cloud
All has burnt
There is nothing left but ashes
What was once before ...
Is no longer
As I rise from the ashes
I see a beautiful, quiet stream of water
Far removed
Way beyond the desert
So still and peaceful
Yet so refreshing
As the noonday dawns
The hope that lies before me
Seems to pull me towards
The pool of refreshing water
That never seems to end
Majestic in its quality
The desert seems so far removed
From my mind
Once was
Is no more
A new and wondrous me emerges
Rising up from the ashes
Unrecognizable

Each day begins by growing bright
while the horizon glows with light
at sunrise.
The mounting sun continues high
and fills the new day's azure sky
with sunbeams.
Caressed by rays on flower beds,
awakened buds lift sleepy heads
to sunlight.
Sometimes, mid-day, the parching heat
is quenched when laden clouds secrete
sunshowers.
At last, at dusk, as night draws near
the sun presents its glowing sphere
at sunset.
