Rising Up From the Ashes
Rising up from the ashes
A long and desolate desert lays before me
The parching heat
The dry morning sun
The promise of another long and lonely day
Seems all-enveloping
A fire smolders in the distance
Smoke is rising in a thick
Cloud
All has burnt
There is nothing left but ashes
What was once before ...
Is no longer
As I rise from the ashes
I see a beautiful, quiet stream of water
Far removed
Way beyond the desert
So still and peaceful
Yet so refreshing
As the noonday dawns
The hope that lies before me
Seems to pull me towards
The pool of refreshing water
That never seems to end
Majestic in its quality
The desert seems so far removed
From my mind
Once was
Is no more
A new and wondrous me emerges
Rising up from the ashes
Unrecognizable
