Tucked away glinting thoughts
like seeds beneath the bark
of half-remembered dreams
that echo autumn’s needs
tend to duck.
Pluck them out
under muck
stuck well fast—
they bring luck.

Incantations of an Entangled Pair
Third Draft
(c) 2025 by The Entangled Pair
It's after midnight where you are,
the show is done, the venue closed.
Four thousand miles away I read
these words that you have just composed.
"Just finished with the show now love,
I'll write to you when I get home."
And as I sit here by myself,
I'm feeling lonely, not alone.
"How can I ever truly be
alone?" I ask, as I sit here,
"When I am you as you are me,
two halves of one entangled pair."
So I respond, my heart aglow,
"Hello my love. I love you so,
as I await my queen's return!"
These feelings cause my soul to burn,
And open wide so to reveal
the you in me I can't conceal.
Sometimes it all seems so surreal:
A sentence passed with no appeal.

Nature is calling,
your hips swaying.
A light snowfall takes
place in a winter
breeze.
The footprints of a doe
and her fawn grace the
land in fragments.
Broken bits of
grass poke out
from where they
were last seen, in
brown, sticky
patches.
A moose,
a rabbit,
a raccoon—
resting, rejuvenating,
saving their strength.
Birds chirp,
wolves howl.
I close my eyes
and know I’ve
made it.
Did you make it
to Italy, sparrow?
For I am yet to
make it there.
I wish
you well.

There was an old man from Fargo,
With a wife whose name was Margo.
They were quite the pair
Neither had much hair
They traveled the world with no cargo!

Jack handed Julie a box of chocolates and launched into a plea for forgiveness.
“I’m SO sorry about that other woman ---”
“TWO women!”
“I’ve changed. I love you. I’ll never cheat again.”
“I forgive you, baby. Let’s have some wine with those chocolates.”
“Hmmm---this wine tastes funny.”

Mushy insides tend to harden up
if all your oxygen is stopped.
Allow yourself to fall, feel.
All your computations
are as dry as math.
It’s not a sum
when it’s a
pair of
hearts.

I do not own a pair of pajamas
In winter, what do I do
Do I pile on the covers
or do I lie there and shiver
If I leave this to your imagination
you might charge me with sexploitation
So, here’s my secret –
No, I don’t borrow my son’s
What I do is close the window!
It’s off with the clothes

my mind meandered

Love is like a pair of shoes
If it does not fits you
You feel discomfort and in pain
If it fits you, you're at peace
You can walk and run with ease
The feeling of comfort
Leads you to where you want to be
If there are steeps to climb
It's easy for your feet to move
And arrive your destination with success.

There once was Glenda with slippers to share.
Dorothy liked better Prada devil’s pair.
She ducked behind Oz’s curtain
To do what is uncertain,
But the Lion put a crib in his lair.

A FAIR PAIR
Willy the worm would want to wiggle
Just a joke joining in with joyful jiggle
Gaity I guess, giving guffaw or giggle
Delighted to dig and dive down deep
Why one would wish to walk or weep
Continually checking, caution to keep
As surface security seldom seems safe
Worried to wander as a whining waif
Choices change, yet chancing to chafe
Stop being silly, Sam Snail softly said
I’m slimy and I slither slowly instead
However heavy to hold I have a head
No shame sheltering in a shiny shell
I’ll try to tempt you with tales to tell
Quiet questioning quite easy to quell
My mistake made if I’m mild or meek
Supposing no special space to speak
Being breakfast in a blackbird’s beak
None need know any new unknowns
Both born blind, bare with no bones
Grudgingly, grinds grates and groans
Great, gradually going underground
So silent, simply still sensing no sound
Finer feelings of fairness finally found
Basically being what a bare belly begs
Dripping not drowning, draining dregs
Laughing’s allowed, even lacking legs
