Finally, my blood began to coagulate,
I really did not think this would eventuate.
But now there’s hope I will not exsanguinate,
because I feel my blood now hemagglutinate.
Remain in my blood vessels and just circulate
perfusing all my organs and accelerate
my wellbeing so I’ll not deteriorate
Instead, my condition will reinvigorate.
So, I will live another day to celebrate
the fact, that I should see another birthday date.
Not be a statistic for mortality rate
by bleeding to death, failing to resuscitate.
Please, let this be a lesson not to overstate
the survival secret one must not lacerate
an organ that could bleed out and necessitate
the need then for your blood to just coagulate

A poet must have
a wound somewhere,
a little pocket
in which a hurt is kept.
Emily had her fears,
Eliot had his guilt, for Dante
it was his love for Beatrice
and Sylvia had Ted.
It's all a part of the trade,
the price paid
to get through the door
whether it's worn
as a badge or kept hidden
just beneath the skin.
Some have a minor nick,
a little scratch,
whilst others have a gash.
It's not something a pill
or a surgeon or someone
practiced in the dark arts
of the head can fix.
Its terminal, a lifelong sentence.
Not to sound overly dramatic
or to overstate, much less
make light of the degrees
of pain and grief
that sometimes
inks the page,
each little poem
is the price you pay
for an hour or two of relief.

One cannot overstate,
What nobody is prepared to state,
When the state is in no fit state,
Because everybody cares about nobody,
And nobody cares about nobody.
It sure will take some body,
To own up to the mistakes that nobody wants to state,
That nobody wants to attribute to somebody,
In order for the state,
To please more than nobody.

My Prose becomes better,
my Poetry gets worse
The pictures stay unpainted,
new words to the curse
Each line chosen mainly
for how it relates
A phrase to launch 1000 ships

Sedated
The sitting and waiting
The Wanting and wishing
No fate of the faded
No reasons debated
Sedated; sedate me
I’m acting so crazy
I cant overstate this
These Feelings are weightless

An astonishing use of words,
Penned by writers from best schools,
Making writer sage, clown, or fool.
Exaggeration! Oh! Yes. Yes.
Exaggeration! Oh! Uh. Huh.
Went down to the muddy river;
The muddy river was bone dry.
Frogs were having a big fish fry!
Exaggeration! Oh! Yes. Yes.
Exaggeration! Oh! Uh. Huh.
Went to the nation’s capital;
In the Congress what did I see?
Dems had joined the G O P!
Exaggeration! Oh! Yes. Yes.
Exaggeration! Oh! Uh. Huh.
Went across the arid desert,
On a blazing hot summer night.
Snake was frozen in block of ice.
Exaggeration! Oh! Yes. Yes.
Exaggeration! Oh! Uh. Huh.
Went to the beautiful ocean;
Had a stroke of beginner’s luck.
Saw crabs doing butterfly stroke.
Exaggeration! Oh! Yes. Yes.
Exaggeration! Oh! Uh. Huh.
To go beyond bounds can twist truth.
To overstate can warp the mind.
Fact and fiction intertwined.
Exaggeration! Oh! Yes. Yes.
Exaggeration! Oh! Uh. Huh.
Fact and fiction can by design,
Oft trigger dynamic friction,
Truth and fiction can test the mind,
Both tools of the wordsmith’s diction.

You could make paper paving pavements as a pavement paver,
and take that paper to a rave and rave like a raving raver,
save behaviour you savour and say to the saviour to save ya,
lose weight so the waiter waits less and waits more for more to waiter,
exaggerate hatred that's stated and overstate the case
whilst you raise praise to raise the raisin raisers wage,
then tie a lace and race with pace to first place and deface the stage.
or...…..
you could save your wage from paving pavements and savour the wait as you save for a case of raver behaviour with pace overstating hatred for a raisin raiser waiter waiting to wait on an overweight weight weigher disgraced in their weighs and way of racist that defacist de stage, man.

When we over think
We under achieve.
When we over look,
We under mine.
When we over talk,
We under appreciate,
When we overstate,
We under estimate.
When we overprint,
We underwrite.
When we overlay,
We under pin.
When we over produce,
We under use.
When we over use,
We under produce.
When we over stock,
We under cut.
When we over price,
We under sell.
When we over protect,
We under value.
When we over view,
We under stand.

My nurse got in touch
I did not expect much
from my medical results she had seen,
but on one thing I failed,
Cholesterol off the scale
which was bad news for little old me.
She just sat there quiet,
I reeled off my diet,
red meat, lots of eggs, dairy stuff,
not much veg in the range
she demanded a change,
though not keen
lots more greens,
fair enough.
I can't overstate it,
you name it, I ate it,
as long as it grew from the ground,
my mood became petulant,
gut rather flatulent,
but gradually lost a few pounds.
One more round of blood letting,
nurse no longer fretting,
the numbers down, now she was pleased,
I'm one happy fellah,
so I ( please don't tell her)
celebrated with a burger and cheese.

I wonder if death will be anything
Quite like living, such as
Stretching the imagination
And allowing for opportunities
Of love and selfless giving. Freely
Recognizing one’s demise isn’t something we wish
To dwell upon more often than the beauty of
An early morning sunrise
Or the reflection of our own soulful
Self in another lover’s eyes. Still,
I can’t help but wonder what mysteries
Await us everyone; below the ground
Where sights and sounds are frozen,
Deaf and dumb. While not wishing
To overstate a point of endless view,
I pray that when they lay me down
I still might see the stars that shine and
Sunflowers in full bloom.
