In A World of Our Own Making

Everywhere I look I see what I see
Through a lens of my own making
A composite fly-eye’s view
Of everything I have ever seen,
Heard, touched, felt and known
A world of my own making in constant flux.

Everything is thus a filtered projection
To a kaleidoscopic mind
And yet the coming to realization
Of the light within and behind the projector
Is a process of reminder and recollection
An undoing of an unknowing at our core.

Even the hardest rock or highest peak
Eventually falls apart and washes to the sea
But eventually is too long for me
In my rush to have it all now;
The taste of alpha and omega
And all points in between.

But then the nectar of the flower here
Now reaching up through the crack
In the sidewalk of my concretizing mind
Is as sweet as that of any
Wild and free blossom
That I will never see or know….

Lions In Sheep Skins

Lions in Sheep skins
Is all that is left in the World
No more brotherhood and kins
The world before only need to be told.

From family members to friends,
Supervisors to managers,
Officials to Religious leaders,
Neighbourhood and abroad,
The pure heart is still below the ladders.

Lions in a sheep skin,
They come like sheeps,
Covered in the light of goodness and hope,
As white as snow, as gentle as a dove,
With promises of wonders of Gold.

Their surroundings amongst us are powerful,
We need them now and then,
They know us better, so do they retaliate,
Until we realise we have different interests,
Life is full of amusements, and entertainment.

We like toy soldiers in some cases,
Where ever we go,
in most situations we find ourselves,
From relationship to marriages,
Most of them we find recently......
Are Lions in sheep skins.

Everyone of us is born with a different perception,
One man alone cannot stand,
Yet we need to figure out and investigate,
In order to strike with the right people,
In the right moment of our lives.... Watch out!

Victims of Our Own Confinement

We decorate and gild our cage

Make it nice and decorate

The confines of our own entrapment

The bars of our own restraint

And we focus so much on this

That life passes us by

And we see nothing but this

And do not see we live a lie

Imprisoned within our own minds

Unable to escape

Because we lock our own cage

Then we throw away the key

And become victims of our own misery

Do we not see

Are we asleep?

It's a nightmare not a dream.

Prisoners of Our Own Mind

Prisoners of our own mind...!

We choose to be a prisoner of our own mind,
entrapped for long in that self-induced grind!
Attempt to get away from this carnal slot,
after many moments, spent well in thought!
Revel in the glory of co-existence in peace,
and find in it, every individual's place at ease.

Looking far deeper in that state - of being,
is in fact the best form of art in 'seeing'!
'Truth for Truth', not with conditioned eyes,
dissolve ego, that's painted with luring dyes!
Once stripped in ethereal, to sheer existence,
its glorious vision of 'oneness' in persistence!

Glean and discern truth with poise and calm,
choose words and deeds, that mean no harm!
Flee from bondage of body, mind and intellect,
free thy 'Self' from this prison and resurrect!
Evolve in spirit at every opportune moment,
"Awaken 'n' realise", and be only in the present!

Minds of Our Own

I scribble this thought in an ode,
Writers' minds have minds of our own,
Our Muse does oft overflow,
Unless there's writers' block, you know,
Fiction people come to life,
We create their joy or strife,
Or do they invent their own?
Is fiction a world to compose,
Or do our minds have minds of their own?

That World of Our Own

There is a world out there
I’m never suppose to know of
A world out where…?
Am I suppose to be lost?

I belong with the few who knows I exist
And with the rest… I’m no more then I should be
IS it not the thought world we regularly abolish
To have finally a seen world as we see?

I discovered a world however
A world no one will ever know
That world to belong to everyone forever
Yet a world never known to show

Can you not know another?
What is the perfect limitation of our time?
How do we change our mind knowing better?
When did ‘better’ we came to find?

Is there a world out there?
Or is everyone supposedly lost?
Had you not known where?
That place everyone seem to know of…

Captain of Our Own Ship

All of us in this human race
have trials and tribulations to face.
We're special and complex in our own way
with simple joys and hopes to display.

Night can be magic and days hold delight
for those who use their wise insight.
For in our hands we hold the key
to wellness and recovery.

A life-long journey's what we're on
with love and laughter sometimes gone.
But in the end it's ours to keep
for we've learned how to swim the deep.

Captain of our very own ship
at times we might just make a slip.
Tossed about on a sea of disaster
yet we need simply to tread faster.

Need to gather strength from within
for there's the prize of life to win.
Pages in our book to fill
and getting that boulder up that hill.

Successes might be big or small-
it matters not, be proud of them all.
You're such a wonderment in your own way
so sing out loud- you've a lot to say!

A World of Our Own

Let us converse through the language of silence
Let us interact with our eyes
Let us unleash the stream of emotions
That in the hearts passionately rise...!

Let us exchange ourselves with each other
Where my heart becomes yours & yours turns mine
Let us live one life together
Aloof to the limits of space & time...!

Let us make a beautiful world...
A world of our own...between you & me...
Where true love is unfurled....
And stretched to the reaches of infinity....!

Nigeria of Our Own

Destined we are curdle together by nature
Though at the twin rivers shore
Believing same will provoke harmony
Bridge on the rivers and wall of our minds
Let the power that be Strike balance
Sweet home now wilderness exile
King, Obis, Emirs, Pastors, Imams and likes stoop to stooge
Politicians dictate tune of bomb
And never wait for tone
When shall we learn to live Siamese like these yonder rivers?
I wept for my darling country

Slaves of Our Own Invention

Our bold and proud
      hyper-cyber generation
has conquered space,
      has mastered time and motion.

We've tamed our hearts
      with science's steely logic
and we boast about efficient
      techno-magic.

Too much giving way
      to machine's domination,
we may end up the slaves
      of our own invention!
