Twin Curse

Crossing the addictions
of body and soul
Delirium tremens
is taking its toll

Like Nitro and Glycerin
waiting to strike
Their coupling disastrous
all day into night

My spirit when willing
the flesh all too weak
Those few days I’m able
my willpower bleak

The detox not working
no cure comes my way
All food tastes like poison
these shakes here to stay

A bomb ticks within me
its fuse ever burns
Tomorrow a concept
long stolen unlearned

With nerve endings fraught
and my body destroyed
These nightmare’s the worst
— when in daylight deployed

Premium MemberAn Accident Waiting to Happen

So with Nitro I'm sure you're aware

They say it's to be handled with care

But when it eroded

Is when it exploded

And then blew everything in the air

Premium MemberFor Goodness Sake

If you poke an alligator with a snake
Or you dance the foxtrot on a garden rake
Or you kiss a crocodile
Cos you love its big wide smile
Then you’ve lived a lot too long for goodness sake

If your tea time treat is poison ivy cake
If you paid a gangster off with cash that’s fake
If you just topped up your gin
With some nitro glycerin
Then you’ve lived a lot too long for goodness sake

If you pour hot chilli powder on your steak
Or you ice skate on a barely frozen lake
If you throw a punch or two
At someone bigger than you
Then you’ve lived a lot too long for goodness sake

So why don’t you sit at home and learn to bake
Learn to cook a three course meal or carrot cake
You could practice origami
Til you drive yourself half barmy
Then you’ll know you've lived too long for goodness sake

Premium MemberPrunellas Majestic Myrtles

Prunella loved the color purple,
planting some lovely Crepe Myrtle’s;
they had a humongous growth spurt,
all due to her nitro-rich dirt,
now her yard’s a Myrtle hurdle.

Premium MemberNitro's Last Joke

There's a cockney name Terry, loves to joke
Nitro, his cat is easy to provoke
Nitro slept under the chair.
Terry in his lion's lair
Got up; in doom and gloom a hollow broke.

“Lion’s lair” refers to an armchair.
"Cockney" a native of East London, traditionally one born within hearing of Bow Bells.

Premium MemberMiltons Stray-Cation

Florida is definitely in the USA
I’m kinda worried because Milt will soon be on his way
I found a map and studied it and found a ‘Melbourne’ there
I hope he gets the right plane or he could get quite a scare
So if Milt disembarks the plane and gathers up his clobber
I hope some Shiela doesn’t ask him, ‘How ya doing, Cobber!’

But fear not, Milton, if it happens, you’ll know what to do
Just dial zero, zero, zero, option eighty two
That’s should get a special secret agent sounding man
Just say the coded sentence which is simply, ‘I need Gran.’

Turbo Gran will meet you in her Speedy ice cream van
Her secret code will be to wink and say, ‘I need a man’
You say, ‘I need chocolate sauce, for chocolate sauce is best’
She’ll take you and your luggage and she’ll drop you at Key West

From there though, you’ll be on your own, for I must tell you that
They’ve got crocodiles and they’ll try to eat her cat
But Nitro-Cat will sort them out for he’ll know what to do
Which means that we can only hope those crocs do not eat you

Happy holiday Milt!

Premium MemberIce Cream Gran - Rest Easy Gran

Turbo Gran’s Zimmer is right by her side
Her head is tipped back and her mouth open wide
Time was she saved every human alive
On land or in flight or a deep ocean dive

The armchair recliner impossibly old
Just get a new one, she’s often been told
She never spent money on night cream for wrinkles
All her spare cash went on sauces and sprinkles

Kids loved her ice cream, they also loved Gran
They barely believed that she fought like a man
But now she lies still, with the cat she likes best
Turbo and Nitro, two heroes at rest

But when her phone rings and it’s screen comes alight
She opens one eye and prepares for the fight
Thus, when the call comes, she stands firm and steady
It seems then, Dear reader, she’ll go when she’s ready.

Game of Clones

Another puppet government,
strings attached gone
Proxy power given to the corrupt —
a foreign gameplan
played wrong

The latest Queen gambit
was an Old World maneuver, with
a neo-Roman tale spin

Place scepter power in a dummy hand;
textbook Machiavellian,
		marionette Afghan

Next to sit on the pyrite throne
be the Taliban

Pass the fools gold goblet
unto the next Caligula tongue
Watch them get drunk on the power
of the grapes of wrath wrung

The deposed rulers were told
that Democracy
was an alchemy elixir
If poured ethnic nitro right

But free market motives
get blown to hell
When the assimilation potion is given
an unbalanced mixture sleight

Taste American prohibition,
drink deep that Liberty sour whiskey
Repealed smuggler mission,
promises made with a slurred speech

Who will be the next in line,
to sit on a shadow throne?
Cut from a Pinocchio design,
cast in the Game of Clones

When their lying power is spent,
and the subtil scepter is pawn passed on
A mirror image pod replacement
will speak in the same surreptitious tone

Hot Rod Baby

Body of steel
Ready to deal
You get the feel
Supercharged
All revved up
With the cover up
Me behind the wheel

Oil and sleeze
Punch and Squize
Engine grease
Running like a breeze
You make me
Beg on my knees

Hot Rod Baby
Hot Rod Baaaabbyyyy
My Nitro Lady
Baby scream, scream, and screaaammmm

Light is red
The race is set
Pumping adrenalin as
As I’m soaking sweat
Moaning and screaming
Yeaaahh , You know what I mean

My burning desire, driving on fire
My wings of flight Smooth as night
My Dream machine
Straight up mean, Faith unclean
You’re my beauty queen, yeah you run the scene

Straight pipe, V8, Gasolin
Roaring thunder, Nitroglicerine
Unchained, Beastial Machinery
Asphalt burning , lady of my dreams

Hot Rod Baby
Hot Rod Baaaabbyyyy
My Nitro Lady
Baby scream ,scream ,screaaammmm

You are my pleasure and pain
A shot in the veeeeeeiiiiin

Lie Ability

Pathological spit-steroid addict,
blame-shifting weightlifting fanatic
Decathlon cracked lip truth ...
Jumping over another
	high cloudy crystal
	methane alibi
aloof sprint hurdle
Twisted twin-lip discus throw
on a poppy milk turbo fan blow
Veracity record unverified:
	Marathon factual finishes
don’t have a Mary Jane
	Photoshop shred of proof

Possessing a prosthetic tongue
allows them half-truth pole vaulters
	to perform
those verbal gymnastic,
lying athletic feats of strength,
so hash mark daringly
Yielding honesty sweat labor sparingly

Such a Festivus mucous odor:
pandemic ground-zero celebration fête
Noxious nitro nostril gas,
on a downhill imposter incline oxy splat

	     Lie ability
don’t hinder a moral victory thief,
it’s a boon to the burglar, actually

Carousel tales ... up-and-down lung sales
giving hazy, rowboat circular details

Ever racing for the Pinocchio prize,
	wouldn’t knowz
	        losers,
with smelly rumor toes ...
Fan the foul exhaust fumes —
when their tale pipe empty,
bad-breath bellow sneakers
reach the end of the road

Pugs

My pug Shelby

My bossy little diva
So much personality
In such a little dog
Always up for cuddles
Ate everything in sight
Didn’t necessarily have to be food either
Answered to many names
But mostly to Chubbers
Loved to sing
Protected me from the evil stuffed toys
Loved wearing costumes
Could snore the siding off the house
My silly little clown

My pug Nitro

My quiet, cuddly, mama’s boy
Keeper of the squeaky ball
My special wheelchair pug
Nothing could slow you down
Too proud for costumes
Always by my side
Protecting me from any animal on the tv
Gassy little puggie
Farting when you bark
Snuggling up tight with Shelby and I
To protect us from the dark

The house is silent now
Doesn’t feel like a home
I miss Chubbers and Nitro
I’ll meet you both at the rainbow bridge one day
To take you with me on our next leg of our journey

Inertia Frigidity

Step into the date-stamped time DeLorean,
move forward
on backward spinning nostalgia rims
Centrifugal hourglass ...
short hand and long
Distorted view of time,
kinetic highway romantic destiny
Blurred future sideway images,
past memories rearview exit gone
Engine gunned to the max,
space curvature gives good distant
escape velocity
Point of reference
for the necessary fuel alibi
goodbye synthesized
Faceless retrograde emotions
be nitro traction void vulcanized
Heart on a timer-delay standstill,
inertia frigidity
Frozen thoughts,
toss away the last empty bottle:
drained viscosity real liquid feelings
Feel the sub-zero wind chill
of a refrigerated body,
another temporal roadkill
Only cardiac arrest
will take you to a stalled location
Pick a random course,
move on
to the next unknown destination
Fate uncertain —
Love theory is all relative
Outside of the winged doors,
birds of chance
perch watch on a deja vu branch
Waiting to draft on the breeze
of your exhaustion,
when your fuming desires run out of time
Passion entropy ... loss of heat
Mind settled comfortably
into inertia frigidity

Premium MemberAcquisition of a Fresh Perspective

will you please wake up
but first signal where
you will place your dreams
not there my grey hair
and nitro tablets might not mix

your eyes so matter-of-factly
smack me upon my brow
a reminder of how the years
can grow grass through concrete
or turn boulders to sand

forgive me if I piffle
forgive me if I bore
but you must know that I
can’t piss like a stripling anymore

Inside and out though you can't see
It still makes you clap and sing
In the atmosphere free

Screamed by banshee
Come this spring

Name My Sayings - What's In a Name

A list of names this contest needs
But what to pick to serve this deed?
I'll use the census - names top ten
And express my wisdom - pseudo zen

Surprised by sudden traffic jam
Essential for your brakes to slam

Shake up nitro just a taj
Oh no earned my Darwin badge

When let down by dear heartthrob
'erts a lot, so have a sob

Reported UFO not cosmic
Ha! Elastic frisbee con trick

Punctuation, spelling, grammar
Your language wood and nails and hammer

I know what's best - I break your will
I am your boss - now take your pill

Beware of other's dark agenda
Video the truth offender

Here's a scheme to make you rich
'ard resist my conman's pitch

When drinking up a mug of char
Less is more and near is far

A flute, two drums and three banjos
Ephemeral - pluck, bang and blow

My names are split, word sin definitive
Yet just as sound as split infinitive
My English slang and lingua pidgin
Yet sage enough for fake religion!

Entry for "what's in a name" contest

Uses top ten names from US census: James, John, Robert, Michael, Mary, William, David, Richard, Charles, Joseph
