Premium MemberDo I have the Nerve

White foamy waves like a spider’s web
Rising out of the water, surrounding the point
The cliffs are darker at this time of year
No breeze today, so this is a natural spring

Irish spring, how marvelous
I wonder about the dangers of getting closer
Dare I try my feet on these giant rocks?
What if I plunge into the depths of the sea?

Would a merman save me? I stare at the point
Is it the tower of the lost civilization of Atlantis?
I want to get closer, but do I have the nerve?
I do….

' Maternal love is an instinct, but paternal love is also distinct.' - Poet

Mother's love shower from natural spring
Father to gain confidence from offspring.
From mother child seeking carefree shelter.
Father is the best known baby sitter.

Premium MemberHappiness

Happiness is when I am listening to the music,
feeling the rhythm, the melody, owning each beat.

Happiness is when I am dancing, expressing my
feelings in each beat lifting my spirit, freeing my soul.

Happiness is when I am taking delight in my movements
in expressing different emotions, ideas, exuberance.

Happiness is when I am in a trance when dance gets
me feeling everything or nothing at all, at the same time.

Happiness is connecting to others while I am dancing.
Yes, they tell me the joy they feel when they watch me.

Happiness is being in solitude, reflecting what I am
thankful for and things I can do for others to stay positive.

Happiness is indulging in natural spring bath, mud bath,
body massage, facials for relaxation and health benefits.

Happiness is taking time with my children, grandchildren,
brothers, sisters, friends to celebrate or just to be together.

Happiness is doing sweet little nothings, like reaching to
my loved ones saying hello or to strangers with a smile.

Happiness is when I say something stupid or funny making
the listeners laugh and laugh making us laugh non-stop.

The utter simplicity of nondoing…

What’s happening is so obvious,
yet the way of seeing so subtle,
it’s easy to miss and disregard.

If this is enlightened view and action
it is indeed too simple to believe,
and too immediate to satisfy
a seeking, craving, effortful mind.

Each thought a bubble
burbling up from a natural spring.

Who even cares what they are about!

Each moment, each babbling thought, unbidden arises and passes on its own, effortlessly,
and the I watching it,
not even the I who thought it; both
just a label for a “mine” that is an illusion.

Even when I’m not aware of it
there is awareness.

“I was blind all the time I was learning to see.”

Indeed.

Premium MemberWhite Tiger King

With all-knowing third eye the white tiger king floated to Arkansas
In his sculpted golden Venetian gondola, in that majestic way he had.
Regular Italian tigers hid behind birches, quietly but respectfully in awe.
Many were intimidated as they watched him float by, others glad.

They had not had a tiger king for many centuries, so this was new.
The lagoon’s waters were warm, caused by a natural spring.
Mimicking birds took time to fan off the king with feathers of blue.
Peasants and minions stood at attention, marveling at the tiger king.

Premium MemberA Wooded Trail

I was walking down a wooded trail.
Sunlight filtered in through the trees.
I came across a weathered fence, post and rail.
The fence held a hive of noisy, busy bees.

I looked across an open field.
There stood a beautiful white-tailed deer.
The buck used the bushes as a shield.
I moved a bit, he then ran off in fear.

The trees and bushes were lush and green.
So dense, that there was a hush all around.
I walked on, feeling so serene.
Beautiful and peaceful, this place I have found.

I heard the sound of trickling water nearby.
I looked around and found a natural spring.
It came from the mountains, a fresh water supply.
Nature has given us everything.

The sunlight was beginning to fade.
It was time to leave this special place.
What beauty this day had displayed.
I am leaving with a wistful smile on my face.

Premium MemberMom's Birthday

Mom's photo album (in the attic, somewhere?)
Ah! Found it by an overdue book (from a library, somewhere?)
There's mom with a Mountie (in Canada, somewhere?)
Mom by a natural spring (in Maine, somewhere?)
Mom in the kitchen (at Aunt's, somewhere?)
Mom is saluted, holds a folded flag (Vietnam memorial, somewhere?)
Mom at the church (outside, somewhere?)
Mom playing the church piano (inside, somewhere?)
Mom waves her hands by a sea (in Israel, somewhere?)
Mom eating souvlaki (in Greece, somewhere?)
Mom on a double-decker bus (in London, somewhere?)
Mom and the grandkids (in Honolulu, somewhere?)
I know there's more of mom's albums (in the house, somewhere?)

I'll finish this cake, whilst looking at pictures, until the nighttide bears, for this day is her birthday, and I know that she's with dad and they both are smiling, --from somewhere in Heaven, up there.

Premium MemberI Came Out Sputtering

Forthy waves fooled me
Lulled me into believing there would be warmth
I plunged in.
My heart nearly stopped.
My body nearly frozen
In the depths of this dark uninhabited lake
What if I die? I wondered
Who will find me?
No one knew I was here.
I could get a cramp.
I came out sputtering.
The woods were nearly silent.
I saw a flicker of a leaf, and then another.
My teeth were chattering.
I put my head under a second time.
It felt warmer now.
Something slid past my buttocks.
A snake?
A turtle?
Do they bite?
A fish?
It seemed warmer.
I began slowly swimming.
A little algae was on my fingers.
I gently flicked it into the waters.
Which seemed lighter now.
The sun had arrived to watch.
I swam into a natural spring.
Not hot-tub warm, but warm.
Delightful.
It was as if I owned the lake
And the woods.
It was just me and God.
I felt better than I had in years.
Deciding at that second to swim
every morning at this time while I was here.
"No one swims at this time of year!" my friend called.
Breaking my meditative ponderings.
I waved. "I do!" I called.
He waved and walked back to the house.
Leaving me to my magical thoughts.

Premium MemberLet Us Build a Lake In the Woods

My husband had a great idea.
Let’s build a lake in the middle of my woods.
No, I screamed, I begged, I yelled.
For I did not want any of my oaks or maples felled.

I was talked into a lake, with the promise of cool
Water to swim, and maybe a natural spring or two.
It happened in the month of June,
A Grand Canyon hole in the middle of my woods.

I could not believe how cavernous and
Intensely clay-like that crater was.
I had never seen anything so gigantic
A Pentagon spaceship would have left more trees.

I figured it would take sixteen years to fill
In order to grow up and become a real live lake.
It took four weeks of constant rain. Less than a month.
I was swimming in it and it had two natural springs.

I think of it fondly, and my paddle boat and my bass boat too.
A wonderful couple of years I had on that lake,
Swimming with dogs, getting bitten gently by fish,
My own nirvana, when the cool water hit my flesh in the morning.

Kissing the Surface of Natural Spring Water

kissing you is like kissing the surface of natural spring water
i let the whole of the feeling consume me
as a result, i am fully cleansed
the angels sing and dance
God gives His approval with a warm smile
i, in positive effect, feel loved
contentment more enlivened knowing that from you, the feeling is sincerely mutual

Pin Fishing

I remember fondly the summer when I was nine
Catching minnows in the creek was my favorite pastime
Except I called then pin fish, I had quirky names for things
As well as bizarre behaviour, year before, obsessed with swings

Decked out in my rubber boots with a bucket in each hand
My desire to capture them day after day, I did not understand
For hours upon hours I catch as many I could, then set them free
To the top of the hill I trudge to a natural spring nestled under a tree

After taking a drink from the purest water I ever sprung from this earth
I overturn the bucket, maybe in my young mind, I was giving them rebirth
For these little minnows, it must have been a harrowing event
Or an adventure of a lifetime, for to harm was never my intent

Then off to home I go to have a bowl of long strokes aka chicken noodle soup
Giving my pin fish time to travel down hill and once again regroup
The next day I would wake up eager and a pin fishing I would go
I bet those minnows were happy when them I finally did outgrow

I Am Free

I am free like the graceful hawk
Bobbing and swaying effortlessly in the sky
I am relaxed like a mountain
Firmly rooted and embracing the spreading earth
I’m happy like a playful child
Jumping carefree on big rocks beside the river
I’m blissful in my fountain heart
Joy endlessly bubbling up from that natural spring

The hawk has perfect awareness
For destroying it’s well hidden and tricky prey
The mountain is the solid ground
Unaffected by fleeting forms that come and go
The child is the intrinsic joy
That arises recognizing inherent truth
The heart is the source of being
Primordially faultless and unchanged by life

Eternal Spring

With each stone,
A certain size,
A distinct color,
Water flows gracefully
Over each backbone of the brook.

Along the brook,
The water is pristine,
Yet calm and quiet,
Rolling over stones
And pebbles, the water streams into
A natural spring.

The spring dwells
Eternal life,
Once drank,
Life everlasting.
Offering life after passing.

The Climb

I started out pondering the thoughts how far do I need to walk?
How big will it be?
Do I have to walk up hill the whole way?
Are there spots to stop and take a break?
This better be worth all this hard work!
I have traveled 1.5 miles up a steady incline,
In the white mountains of New Hampshire.
I have come to my destination!
A 75 foot water fall staring at me.
This hike was was well worth the climb after all.
you could hear the echos of the water as it came crashing down.
You could feel the breeze that the spray gave off.
I could not believe what was before my eyes.
How this natural spring just happened,
In the woods of the white mountains.
