Yen Til

You ain't got nowhere to be
Since it's your day off
Except here with me
My day off too

I'm kinda liking being here
I really. really enjoy
Being here with you

Don't conjure up no clever
Conversations
Evasives acts ain't what your
Displaying

Keep it true tween me and you
Gotta love I wanna share with you

Quiet times when we're together
Disco dancing and reggae
They see us together
Rock and roll me alnight long
Happy people
Baby that's what we are
If I got a sneak around to be with you
Damn it- that's what I am gonna do
Ain't no fussing gonna keep us apart
I swear it's true it comes
Straight from my heart

Do you feel like loving me
I wanna have you loving me
I don't wanna look elsewhere
I want you here loving me

It aint that complicated
Ah compromise on what
We debated

Get ah trill outta loving you
Smiles and cheers to your
Best friend
So glad I am with you

Hot off the heels of Back in Black
A face melting 10 track
From the opening with cannon blast and more
It went to number one, Back in Black only number four
What? You question and rightly so
How did Back in Black peak so low?
Not sure, but none are out done
All AC/DC albums are number one
Even Powerage (the anti-disco disc)
And Flick of the Switch
Will scratch where you itch
      (don't scratch the vinyl)
Or Fly on the Wall some say
Doesn't fly the AC/DC way
Hey it's all AC/DC when tracks are laid down
So put it in the 8-track, cassette or CD player
     And rock your hometown
So when I listen to AC/DC my neighbors do too
All the way through (the mists of time):

For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)

(P.S. Thank you Daniel Mannix for the history of the Coliseum in Rome
AC/DC wouldn't have had the inspiration without reading your tome)

A Drama In Two Parts

They left Southampton with a coal fire down below,
Olympic class of the White Star Line, little did they know.
Irish-built in Belfast, one iceberg was all it took as,
with insufficient lifeboats, the whole wide world it shook.
Departing Queenstown, compartments not all watertight,
unsinkable or so they said, until that tragic night...
(almost a six-day cruise).
She was poorly equipped and, as all good Captains do
(tho' that is not his due), Edward Smith
(and fifteen hundred souls or more)
went down with the ship.
And the band played on as the ship was going down,
were they blind (drunk?), out of their minds,
they were all about to drown.
Some thought 'Bravery,' others, 'Stupidity,'
(altho' cold as ice), I can say, quite categorically,
I would have jumped ship if it were me.
Tho' it's a deep subject, rock-bottom at very best,
the play on Broadway (take a bow) you won't see,
of lost lives and broken hearts
is... 'The Titanic, In Two Parts'.

An Avid Pupil of "Mott the Hoople"

A Rocker from the Start

My Soul would Fear no "Megadeth"

But Lost my Heart to "Heart"

I'd never Plant the "Plants"

Or Turn the Page on "Pages"

Till I Cross the River "Styx"

I'll Rock the "Rock of Ageless"

Premium MemberThe Arts

Art brings creativity, depth, evokes feelings,
connects people, reflects historical events,
preserves cultural values and traditions.
Art conveys aesthetic pleasures, one of its missions.

Choreographed dance expresses fluidity, grace highlighting
the dancers’ technical skills and control, ease and elegance.
Dance, an art form under performing arts focuses on connection
appealing to the senses of the dancers and audience is perfection.

Blues, classical, disco, electric, funk, gospel, hip-hop,
and rock, the influential one, are genres of music, another
art form and the most universal under performing arts
for it is a universal language that touches hearts.

Abecedarian, ballade, couplet, diamante, elegy, footle
are types of poems and poetry, an art form under literary
art, uses chosen language for meaning or words artistically to
connect to the reader’s emotions and imagination too.

Suspicious Minds

On weekday nights when it grew
too quiet

Alex the angry barman
would strut towards the machine, somehow
disable its need for money, and
select a batch of Elvis songs

And when the first one came on, he'd be scanning
the few customers for signs of disrespect

'There, that's proper music, none of
your punk rock nonsense'

Premium MemberWhat Makes My Soul Roar

NOT BASELESS IS

Not baseless is the ocean’s roar, the build up to that bass before
it all comes crashing into shore, foaming it draws back for more
I’m sure that there are high notes too, perhaps too high for our purview
but to the sound of rock and roll, I find that sea has taken soul

By Aaron Davis

Not voiceless is the ocean's roar, crescendo notes rise off the floor
it all comes waving on the shore, rising up to meet me at the door
I'm sure that there are treble clefs and flats but heh! what I adore,
is when Maestro strikes a pose, it makes my soul, begin to roar.

PETE THE PERCUSSIONIST
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There once was a drummer named Pete,
whose rhythm was funky and sweet.
     He dreamed of the stage,
     a rock star despite his age.
His sticks, though, were clumsier than his feet.
He practiced with pots and with pans,
in hopes of a life with great bands.
     With a crash and a boom,
     he shook up the room,
Wishing for a gazillion and one fans.
He donned leather pants, shiny and tight,
and shouted, "Tonight, I’ll be outta sight!"
     But when he would play,
    the crowd ran away,
He understood ‘twas rock star’s plight.
Villanelle of a Metal Queen
Villanelle of a Metal Queen (c) 2025 by Russ Dodson
I just don't know where else to start
to tell you of this love of mine
she is the beating of my heart
these feelings that I must decline
I just don't know where else to start
the memories both sweet and tart
hold feelings that I would enshrine
she is the beating of my heart
I wonder can I play that part
to make these treasures glow and shine
I just don't know where else to start
so soon again she must depart
to let her skills and soul entwine
She is the beating of my heart
She is a rockstar, and a large part
of the sound she helped refine
I just don't know where else to start
She is the beating of my heart
Pau - Old School Cool
Old School Cool (c) 2025 by the Entangled Pair
She's hot, yes, but she's also cool
she is a gem, she is a jewel
I think she's great (and I'm no fool)
she beats those drums like she's old school
she pounds those skins, sometimes it's funny
she hits them like they owe her money
and one thing more I'll tell you honey
she's on that kit whether cloudy or sunny
She's been that way right from the start
plays from the the soul, plays from the heart
she always does more than her part
it's not just passion, it's her art
looking back I am that fool
dug in like a Missouri mule
and if this doesn't break some rule
she's not just cool - she's old school cool
Music
Classical is from the Middle Ages
in the mid-1940's we had Bebop
a fast-tempo 19th / 20th century Jazz
then along came Doo-wop
with group harmonies
the 50's brought us rock and roll
which developed the 1960's
(sad to say) Disco and its glitter ball
then psychedelic pop rock
blues and folk rock
and in the 1970's it was Hip-hop
and also Rap
which was misspelt
it should read 'Crap'
the 1980's were synthesised
1990's gave us Garage and Grunge
2020's saw online streaming
by the record industry which makes me cringe
Country music (C&W) too (hit or flop)
I know it's true I left out (Reggae) more than a few
but no matter the genre tempo or key
the self-same seven notes do it for eclectic me
Premium MemberDancing To The Stones
I love to dance to the music of The Rolling Stones,
one of the longest-running rock bands since the sixties.
The band’s music is raw with energetic blend of blues,
rhythm and blues, rock and roll and baroque rock or pop.
Slow dancing to the ballads of Angie and Wild Horses
let me bring out the emotional depth of the melody
and lyrics through emotive flow and applying Tango
improvisation to Paint It Black with its unique sound.
Fusion dancing to Ruby Tuesday, a baroque pop and
You Can’t Always Get What You Want, a rock with slow
ballad like tempo to fast, to create contrasting styles and
freestyle dancing by mixing various genres to Under My Thumb.
Swinging, jiving, rocking, strutting, like Mick’s strut and
shimmying to Tumbling Dice and Honky Tonk Women.
Dave, the pianist and vocalist of a two men band plays
The Stones songs for me and calls me The Stones Girl.
Premium MemberSystem Overload Rondine Back To The Future Tribute
Woahhh.. rock and roll. Definitely.
The system may just overload.
A lead foot going down the road.
Soft, a bit smooth? Not remotely.
That sound broke apart inside me,
hearing the guitar my pulse slowed.
Woahhh.. rock and roll.
Man that vibrates, this is heavy.
Music defined by that zip code,
with every lyric  those roots showed.
It can  take you back easily,
woahhh.. rock and roll.
Dumped, by app
We'd played each other on the
song guessing app for
six years, ever since we were matched up
when I visited Iceland in 2016; we
both liked Classic Rock and stuck to
70s playlists
For a few weeks one year (2022) I was
"out of sorts" and didn't log in; when
I next opened the app
I saw Haraldur had terminated our six-year
rivalry
I mean, I led him by 540 to 86 games,
he was a bit slow,
but I valued our unspoken international alliance
It stung for a while but my
main concern was that my wife,
whenever I played the game,
always asked me how 'your friend Olaf' was doing
And now I just can't admit that he's
no longer my friend
I am 55 years old
horn music
Horn Music
In the late forties and middle fifties
horn music and military marches tunes
were often parlayed in the town's park
and we lived nearby and bore the brunt
of this noisy music
to complain was not easy as the music
was seen as an expression of freedom
chasing the German army out of our
cherished country, admittingly with
the help of the Russian army, the
British took the credit
Horn music is simply horrible to enjoy
the noise one has to be unmusical
one would think the noise had stopped
with the arrival of modernity, rock and roll
and Elvis Priestly, but no
I was invited in the eighties to read a poem
in Oslo. When my turn came to read
the horn orchestra struck up.
