The milk coffee skies of Paris in May,
make the Seine river look insanely gray.
At sunrise it’s quiet -
the traffic’s mostly bikes
our digs are luxurious and private
my school stress is waning - it’s nice
I want to get up sigh
I don’t want to get up,
We’ll vote on it later -
I think it’s a tossup.
What will today bring?
More thunderstorms and kisses?
*grin* I hope so.
I pull the covers up.
Peter stretches and asks,
“what are you doing?”
I chuckle, and say,
“Come and find me,”
when he does,
Paris is fun in May

Each time I see a swimming pool,
I think of you and smile.
Your breaststroke and your butterfly
Could dazzle and beguile.
You aced your screen test with Clark Gable.
Don’t be bashful, drop a line.
You had entanglements with Tarzan.
Come on in, the water’s fine.
You frolicked through the Aquacade,
So dangerous when wet.
Your million-dollar mermaid played
Queen Neptune on the set.
Fox claimed Sonja Henie’s fluid waltz across the ice.
MGM framed Esther Jane’s aquatic edelweiss.
Each time I see a swimming pool,
I think of you and smile.
A pin up in a bathing suit.
Van Johnson liked your style.

She was born Giovanna Carmella Babbo.
This Italian-American singer came from Chicago.
In 1952, "Why Don't You Believe Me" went to number one.
She had six more top ten hits before the fifties were done.
Through seven decades, Joni has proven quite able.
All of her music was released on the MGM label.
Joni is still around as of 2020.
Her entertainment career continues at the age of ninety.
I thank both wikipedia.org and www.jonijames.com for valuable information I obtained to write this poem.

Unable to deceive you--
not that I wish to hide some dark truth--
but fears are so private,
and you read me like an MGM Marquee....
Too easily you expose me,
send me stumbling
against mirror walls, shattering images....
Your lips over the sharp edges,
miraculously uncut,
with warm kisses you raise me
from cold, compressed crystals....

In 1932, on April Fools’ Day,
you entered this world, and are still with us today.
Your original first names were Mary Frances.
Your birthplace was the city of El Paso, Texas.
In Burbank, California, you won a beauty contest.
This started your career many consider among the best.
Warner Brothers and later MGM placed you on the big screen.
In many films and television shows, you would be seen.
It was here you were given your new name “Debbie”.
You have possessed uncanny talent along with great beauty.
Your act contains fine music and funny comedy.
Among your hit songs is the fifties classic “Tammy”.
A friend of mine dragged me down to Atlantic City.
After seeing your act, I now consider myself lucky.

James Dean an MGM dream
Sprawls unseen towards the door
Tipping his hat Hello Mama and that
He shuffles his shoes to the floor
Shakespeare a play McBeth he should say
a dagger towards his hand
His glasses allow great gaze over brow
a method actor's clap on demand
Due East of Eden a mother was bleeding
Stole comfort from drink and the bottle
James and his Porsche a destinal course
His life measured speed through the throttle
The black suited man from oil in the sand
A cattleman's stock to re-brand
Rivals those two rebellious crew
A Giant a legend of land
A swerve and a shout a policeman drives out
There James who is slumped near at hand
Ascensional dream rise up from this scene
A teenager and rebel most grand
