Joni James

She was born Giovanna Carmella Babbo. This Italian-American singer came from Chicago. In 1952, "Why Don't You Believe Me" went to number one. She had six more top ten hits before the fifties were done. Through seven decades, Joni has proven quite able. All of her music was released on the MGM label. Joni is still around as of 2020. Her entertainment career continues at the age of ninety. I thank both wikipedia.org and www.jonijames.com for valuable information I obtained to write this poem.

Hi Robert, This is a good tribute piece in honor of Joni James. I never heard of her until now. That's amazing that she's still performing at 90; Wow! Off to go look her up on youtube; I will let you know what I think. Have a great day:-) Alexis

I found her on YouTube and I liked her voice. In that golden era, singers were in a league of their own. Her voice still sounds amazing. Thanks for bringing her to my attention:-)Alexis

Hello Robert, I like a good poem that takes me down through a history, though not mine, so worthy of the trip. And equally important that you credited your sources. An homage I'm still learning. -Richard
