She was desperate to find love
I was desperate for my love to
love me
Nkiru was running to find love
While I was waiting patiently for
my love was yet to find me.
We met in an MBA class
And became casual friends
But she was desperate
Age was counting, pressures too
I wanted to be loved and was
willing to wait
But Nkiru was not my chosen love
The closer she got to me the farther
I slipped away from her
She smothered me with her kisses
But I couldn't respond because
I could not pretend
Then my patience paid off
The love of my heart responded
There was a song in my heart
And a spring in my walk
My love has come home to stay
Nkiru couldn't stay any longer
She had become desperate
Age was counting, pressures mounting
So she walked away from life
As my love walked in.

I’m an indecisive person
Ask anyone who knows me
I change my major every week
Grinding my teeth while I’m asleep
Cause I don’t face my anxiety
That’s what it is...
Sometimes I think I’m artsy
Is this a poem I’m writing?
Sometimes I think I’m smartsy
Go into bioengineering?
I just hate corporate America
Don’t want to sell my life away
But I know when I’m homeless
I’ll say, Dad, why didn’t I get that mba?
I don’t know why I am this way
Can’t separate dreams from reality
Don’t want to become some sad old fart
Just wanna die poor with some shitty art.

Poem: If I could give back
I give back this slave name that these white masters gave us~I give back all the beatings that our ancestors had to take,I give back the hate that caused them to hate the color of our skin, I give back all the years that we suffered,I give back all the name callings and they nasty ass spit that crossed our face,I give back all the pain n suffering, all the hollering and screaming,I give back our land that they stole us from, I give back the sleepless nights, the worries n tears,I give back all the hard work, working in cotton fields, I give back how they stripped us from our duty but what I aint give n back is my African beauty~By ya #1 n only MBA

An MBA
God just told me to write this one. My problem is whether to send it to Father Dave or not who this is in reference to.
So many sins I may have already done
Yet you still are my savior and most holy one
Even though great songs I may have sang
Which whole entire house they all brang.
You like bowling people over with your math
And make our minds have to take a bath
I'm sure is nothing compared to yours
You have all the solutions and even cures.
While our abilities are horrible and horrendous,
Yours always seem to be so stupendous;
Compared to yours, ours is nothing at all
Your mind's much larger and ours is so small.
You are now saying Horn surely you jest
Why would you think my mind is the best?
I am brilliant you have heard me say
And to prove it, I even have an MBA.

Law, English, business, and so on—
alas, are tiresome!
All the professors here go on
with a prime axiom.
A moldy, college campus where
knowledge and books abound,
freshmen and co-eds are clueless
and confused all around.
Mid-terms and finals I so dread
as the semester wends;
the pressure's on me to study
as my freshmen year ends.
School's oppressive this semester,
I'll see my old provost
and leave 'ere I rot and fester
to try a better post.
William & Mary's M.B.A.'s
are just worthless BS
(degrees from the home of “The Tribe,”
dross that just obsolesce).
I'll trill as “The Lithium-Laced Lyrist”—
as rhymes are my forté,
not tomes or stuffy scholastics:
for poesy's my métier!

Clemency for me!
Really worthy of it? I don’t think so,
After all I have done,
You put them all behind you,
You once again granted me audience,
I felt welcome and accepted,
With warming smile, transforming my mind,
I can vividly imagine how angels look,
I know for sure you are braver than Darling Grace,
Though you have a fragile physique,
Titanic is your heart,
Very big, strong, impressive,
Remain fit as my help meet,
It’s you and can never be anyone else,
Anyone else? “Mba”,
It’s you my true love.
