my best friend knows my stories, has my back, laughs with me
He and I share two dogs, they are our babies, Maxie and Maddy
We are silly enough to call ourselves their mommy and daddy
Been together for fifty-seven years, my best friend and me
My best friend misses me when I am gone, which is a rarity.
We are evenly matched in wit and wisdom, in complete parity.
My friend and I both have hazel eyes and dark hair, but I dye mine.
We take turns napping now, because babies want one up all the time.
There are so many reasons that I love my best friend, impossible to choose.
He knows me better than anyone else; can find anything I misplace or lose.
Knows what foods to buy, so he does the grocery shopping.
He also does the laundry, this man is a dynamo who is forever hopping.
We can finish each other’s sentences,
so claim we are redundant all the time.
I guess the best thing about my best friend
is that since 1968 he has been mine.

Missing Chris
My little dog hides in high grass;
Her blackness crawls between iris stalks,
I spend my time spotting her,
That she not find her way away.
The fence is chain link, covered with ivy,
She hides even there, I worry.
Maxie is my friend, she comforts me.
Love to all, good night.

To think I’m now a hermit,
Cloistered in my home,
Haven’t been outside except on my deck,
And even then alone.
I phone in now my groceries,
Amazon is more than busy.
I just found on the porch 24 little gel cups,
And see a house dress is on its way.
I don’t understand myself.
Maxie and I are content.
Seems like I don’t want anyone,
Where has everyone gone and “went?”
I’ll saunter into watch NBC,
Cause I’m scared to death just to be.

Under the African sun
When loneliness bite’s and red wine doesn’t help
And mowing the lawn makes you feel a little green,
Red faced and hot!
Winter it is not !
A tree with a shower
Cold water gives you power.
The wind has dropped the beetles are humming
Cumulous clouds are forming
A storm is coming !
Finish the potting rake over the soil
Plant the seeds of all your hard toil
Winter is coming the beds lie fallow
But winter seeds only need to be shallow
A few months to come and a beautiful scene
Of Cosmos in bloom under the African sun
Gods peace and tranquillity settles the scene
At the end of the day everything is clean
All in its place and I’m still His Queen
A bride with a veil so pure and white
He’s forgiven my sins and given me light
I’m blessed by His blood
Now let’s call it a night.

Isaiah 61:10
I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

DO as you are told,
We moan about our hardships,
But hardships are mostly brought about by ourselves.
You can say “but I didn’t cause it!”
Look really hard!
Did you say YES when you should have said NO?
Did you receive instead of giving?
Did you turn away instead of listening?
Instead of helping, did you say “I cant” ?
We have so many choices in life.
The only time we make the right choice,
Is when we listen to what God is telling us.
Sometimes we answer, BUT ill just…..
Or ill do it a little later,
Im so busy right now, I don’t have the time.
What if I fall flat on my face!!!!!!
Just listen,
DO as you are told,
We ARE the children of GOD
We MUST obey His Will.
God will not fail us!
Take that step and walk out in faith!
He has a plan for you.
Just open your eyes, open your ears, and open your heart.
Joy and happiness and peace will come…………..

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26

Where Eagles Dare
Where Eagles dare and Angels fear to tread,
Gods breath breaths.
Where hurricanes blow and tornadoes swirl
Gods breath breaths.
Where volcanoes boil and the mighty lightning strikes
Gods breath breaths.
He parts the mighty seas
He makes deserts blossom and bloom
He gives us peace and quiet in the midst of the storm
He is our mighty God
Mountains melt like wax before him
The sun rises every day to great Him
The moon shines at night to glorify Him
We bow down on our knees before our living God
Jesus Christ our Lord Almighty
He calms the seas before Him
He quiets our mind and calms our hearts
He makes everything still
so we can listen to His voice.
Where Eagles dare and Angels fear to tread,
Gods breath breaths.
Where hurricanes blow and tornadoes swirl
Gods breath breaths.
Where volcanoes boil and the mighty lightning strikes
Gods breath breaths.

Dear Jesus
I haven’t written in a while,
I’ve missed not writing.
I haven’t been reading enough either,
I’ve missed not reading.
You feed my soul,
You make me know that everything will be ok!
Thank You Jesus for the life You have given me.
Thank You Jesus that I have Your DNA.
Thank You for including me in Your family.
Your Blood that You shed for me,
Covered all my transgressions and iniquities.
Thank You for saving my soul.
Thank You Jesus for making me whole.
Thank You for making my life complete.
I’m sorry Jesus if at times I am weak.
I’m sorry if sometimes I fall asleep.
Thank You Jesus for waking me up and showing me the right path to take.
Please intercede with our Father on my behalf,
That I might walk the walk with You, together hand in hand.
I pray this in Your precious name Jesus,
That Your Blood cover me and shield me and protect me from harm.
That my family will know You intimately and walk the walk with us,
Into new life,
Amen.

FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND
There is excitement in the air!
There is a disturbance in the airwaves!
The dogs are restless.
The birds have disappeared
The air is still, like its waiting!
We are in for a storm of note!
The pressure cooker is building.
The clouds are swirling.
The Holy Spirit is waiting to talk!
Listen to the breeze blowing,
The Pine trees are whispering.
He’s here. He’s here, your time is near!
Waves are crashing, storm clouds gathering.
Sunsets are red and orange with anticipation!
The Holy Spirit is calling,
Beckoning you to follow.
God’s finger, a shadow on the sand.
Listen and hear,
Run and be near.
Follow the footprints in the sand!
By Maxie MacDonald
(Luke 3:16) John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful
than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize
you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
(Matthew 3:16) As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that
moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and
lighting on him.

Anticipation
This morning the sky was bright red
Before turning to a dirty milk
The air is still
The heat is intense and dry
You can hear the leaves crackle underfoot
You can feel the energy in the air increasing
Like a coiled spring
You wait for the impending storm
Excitement growing with every hour
The smell of fire drifts on a breeze
Veld is burning
Animals running trying to escape
The smell of rain is still far away

Revelation 1 v 7 & 8
7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

MY SAVIOUR
When life is just too hard to handle. I turn to You Lord.
When the debts pile higher than the sky, I turn to You Lord
When my knees are bruised and rough from kneeling on the floor,
I cry out to You Lord!
Show mercy on Your child Father!
I know how badly I am flawed!
You died and shed Your blood for us,
That we might be allowed in,
The heavens room You prepare for us
On removal of our sin!
When our hearts are screaming from all the pain and hurt,
You give us shelter Lord and protect us from the storm.
Desperation comes a’knocking,
The Holy Spirit starts a’rocking!
Hold onto Jesus now, so that you may not fall!
The devils just awaiting for you to stall!

Psalm 28 verses 6 and 7
Praise be to the LORD,
for he has heard my cry for mercy.
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.

PASSION
It’s indescribable!
Something you either have or you don’t.
Only one so passionate can recognise it in another.
The way you sit, the way you hold yourself.
Bridled passion.
A deep sadness behind the façade
Hands of strength, but gentle too.
Compassion and a sense of yearning in your eyes.
Doe soft, your lids drop to hide the pain.
Withdrawn, guarding your heart.
The healer needs healing
Be gentle to yourself dear one.
I see your pain, I feel it too.

JUST FOR A WHILE
Just for a while, it would be nice to be held….
For someone to pat my back and say “ there, there, don’t worry”
“everything will be alright”
Just for a while, it would be nice to say, lets not stay home tonight,
Lets go eat out.
Just for a while it would be nice to feel wanted and loved by a special person….
Just for a while it would be nice to say “I love you too”
Just for a while it would be nice to be taken care of,
For someone else to say, ill get that!
Just for a while it would be nice to be driven and not have to drive!
Its not too much to ask, “Just for a while”
To feel secure and loved.
Just for a while………

HIS WARMTH
It’s hot outside,
But I am cold,
Bone chilling, icy cold.
There is no warmth to be found.
Objects are just objects, they have no feeling or warmth
You can hold them, but they can’t hold you back.
You can see them but they can’t see you.
What if they could, see you I mean?
What would they see?
Someone cold and hard, icy cold?
No warmth, no loving, no feeling?
Or would they see Jesus, shining through you?
Compassion and warmth
Hands outstretched calling.
Just waiting for His flock,
To hold them,
Keep them warm.
Do you want that warmth?
Where are you, what are you doing?
Running away doesn’t help,
He can still see you
You know you want to stop,
Why don’t you?
Jesus is waiting,
Waiting just for you,
So turn around and walk into His warmth…..

Run Baby Run
Run baby run,
You need to run, run, run
You need to run baby run!
Don’t look back
You need to run baby run!
Shadows are falling
Night times a’ calling
You need to run baby run!
Daddy’s waiting arms outstretched
Softly calling,
You need to run baby run.
Darkness growing,
A’ storms a’ coming
You need to run baby run.
Ohhh you need to run, run, run
Don’t look back!
You need to run baby run!
Your knees are skinned,
Your hands are raw
You need to run baby run.
Daddy’s waiting arms outstretched
Patiently waiting……

(Shuffling with Shel)
Ode to Shel Silverstein
The master taps across the stage
Wiggling rhymes upon his page
Tapping, leaping, letting go
Silly poems that steal the show.
Heel, shuffle,
Heel, step
Like A Runny Babbit
Falling up
Flap, heel, turn
A Light is in the Attic.
Spying, listening to his moves
Tapping out his beat
The rhymes that skip across my ears
Are silly, yet so sweet.
Dig, brush
Flap, heel
Rhyming rapt release
Shuffle, heel
Dig, toe, hop
Never a Missing Piece
Learning all the tap dance steps
Shuffle, ball change, hop.
Typing, tapping, out the words
Into my own laptop.
Jump, click
Maxie Ford
A Giraffe and a Half
Stomp, scuff
Hop, riff heel
Always gets a laugh.
The master danced before us
His steps a melody
that shared those silly skillful sounds
just like the Giving Tree.
One day I hope to dance with words
And share with all my friends
These special sublime tap dance steps
To Where The Sidewalk Ends.
