has become
expected.
If I was reading
this to my son
he would look at me
cross-eyed and walk
out of the room.
I held the book I wrote
for the first time today.
It was waiting for me
at the front desk
because I asked a friend
I love and work with
to please, please, please
bring her copy in
so I could see it,
and hold it.
I am still laughing
at the fact that I wrote
something that my friends
and family have purchased,
held, and read before me.
It is very wacky.
I was manning
the front desk
for my school
and I must have looked
insane, as I laughed
and cried and turned
the precious pages
of my little book.
That is how it goes
when you publish a book
these days,
I suppose...
The incentive to write the following verses came from my thoughts
at the moment the 'president' addressed the country about the
tragedy that took place over DC.
The night many witnessed a collision over Washington, DC
A terrible fate and loss of lives. It could've been you or me.
"Acceptable" the description of traffic control at that hour
Then, "not normal" twas said of those manning the tower.
In a burst of flames, Blackhawk and AA fell into the river
A national tragedy witnessed that caused many to shiver.
Sixty-seven in the cold Potomac... what a horrific way to die
Left behind, their family and friends, many tears they'd cry.
Except for one... While tears flowed in hours of mourning,
The President's heartless speech, I found worthy of scorning.
He read words without emotion, no compassion in his droll voice
A Republican elephant, more like an a.s.s. ~ the people's choice.
He made it worse by pointing a crooked finger, narcissist fool,
blaming Dems for the crash. Greed and power make him drool.
A President without a heart cannot display grief and empathy.
What kind of man is totally void of showing an ounce of sympathy?
#Blue_ticked
Feel like I have been locked out from heavens gates, the screaming so internally bloating, my veins turns green, could I be internally bleeding?
I said; I'm fine not immune to pain, please come closer, look clearly, the ruins you have created, my emotions in bruises, maybe I'm susceptible to pain, blame me not for being human
Remove the red tapes, allow me to be, to say and to show. Stop expecting, I'm me not they, don't blue tick me, confront me, force me to break, my body has reached its brim of pretending, of manning up, of being strong, please don't just blue tick,
It's my grave you digging, I'm not ready to die, as of yet, not like the rest, I'm not the rest but me,
Open your heart, listen up, come a little closer, look my direction, I'm here not going anywhere, not going to be silenced, hear the ticking emotional bomb beeping inside me, I'm about to detonate any minute,
please stop blue ticking, just stop forcing to add me to statistics, I'm me not they, I'm I not the rest
Just stop blue ticking me

A lonely son beneath the lonely sun
Knowing I’m the only one
Lone Ranger with an empty gun
Back to my cave when I am done
Fire doesn’t warm my soul
A dark abyss of gaping hole
The wind is speaking in strange tongues
And fleeing from my vapid lungs
I am Jonah in the whale
A one man crew manning the sail
By myself I hold the wheel
By myself I think and feel
Everyone and everything
And no one knows the lonely sting
And everybody is together
And I am all alone forever
I don’t have a friend in you
Don’t even have a friend in me
With everything so far apart
And past the chasm I can’t see
I’m so lonely cold inside
Even mirrors can’t confide
My reflection left me too
Who am I and who are you?
Shirley Zee loved cooking, cleaning and canning
While her apple pies in the window were fanning
Her life is so easy said our neighbor, Snoop Manning
I rolled my eyes, trying my best to be dead-panning
I knew the truth about Shirley’s marvelous life
She had plenty of problems, lots of turmoil and strife
A sneaky snake in kitten’s clothing had made her his wife
Kept thoughts to myself, for Manning’s words could cut like a knife

Before you are handed
Your ice cream cone
From the man
Manning the ice cream van
Adorned freshly with a flake
nuts and sprinkles
And whichsoever sauce of your
own very choice and persuasion
Just be wary of the passing fairies
and angel's
Getting to grips with it before you first
Because even they themselves believe
All work and no fun or play
May leave you exhausted feeling
down and sick
Sometimes everyone needs to take
a well deserved break during their day
As it is going nowhere
As neither are you
We all for the most of us
Are merely come to think of it
Just running fools errands
In order to complete
One more day
Of which one can only hope and pray
Much many more
Are in future to come
If you indeed find yourself in possession
Of a rude state of health
And mind your step
And so to busses and vans as well
Whence approaching a busy road
or intersection
The recon doesn't take long.
Halfway down the street will do it
before hell opens up and leaves you
shuffling along a narrow ledge overlooking
the drop. It takes all your strength
to stay upright and balanced above
what your brain tells you is oblivion.
It would be easier to stay still
and let the world circle outside, manning
the barricades with your rusty rifle
loaded with words, firing into the dark
hoping to take down a ghost or two
as they charge your Alamo.
Met have I An Incorrigible,
Who thinks himself The Eligible
For manning of a dirigible:
For all valued posts The Preferable
And The Toughest of The Capable...
To his admirers infallible
But to cheap impulse susceptible
And to pettiness vulnerable...
Yet, has he been quite acceptable,
His best doing to be fashionable
Always after the presentable
His self - image not winnable.
Still, it's been a voice inaudible
Speeches soon unintelligible
From ideas incomprehensible
Only a bit understandable;
In many ways, then, The Sufficient
And in as many The Deficient.
I watched as she dusted and sneezed;
'It's worthless, I'm certain,' she wheezed.
I thought I'd be rich -
oh, life is a b.tch!
(My desk got a clean, so I'm pleased...)
written 26th April for Joseph's contest - about Anita Manning from The Antique Roadshow
Banquet of people like wildflowers, shemales swaying thier county sides from left right, funky cat shoes, bikinis
all that stuffs, some religious ones were odd though.
Every male manning his Oars. Things seem clearer now .
Some smiling in between pains, some laughing while
the pain is under, some buying attitudes some selling .
They say "life is such a business," "buh what think u?"
Me!," "what u do with it today is what u get from it the
Morrow & what u do away today is what u
do without the Morrow."
Suddenly Nene came, but Dada has just gone on a sudden journey
never to return. Momma is lonely and I can't comfort her.
Lola is a bleeding heart and Junior has marked another sexy figure.
So I roadbed my phases & titled it " three phases of my life "
"experience is a name that men give to their mistakes"
I have trained my whole adulthood for the challenge of this day.
The toil and sweat and sacrifice, the monotony of drill,
All those years of manning up to my ambition.
I have wrestled the beast and disciplined my will.
I mean to vanquish my opponent for the golden prize
I'll enter the ring and trust my luck to fate.
I have trained my whole adulthood for the challenge of this day.
When I rise again come dawn, I will reiterate.
If our Moon could be judged as a sex
Female, male- some of both, it's complex
Since its phases do change
And its shapes rearrange
Its true gender could be multiplex.
Glowing round on a clear starry night
Poets think it's a she when they write
Perfect curves and a smile
Moon is set to beguile
smitten lovers to swoon at her sight.
But less feminine- Moon takes a turn
Looking gray amid storm clouds that churn
Like a sailor at sea
The Moon then seems to be
Manning tides as his only concern.
So, for sure, when we think of the Moon
As a gender, find out very soon
It's the setting that shows
In the way that it glows
How we feel its portrayals commune.
Comes the inevitable moment to decide at last
Whether to stay or go; whether to love or hate
Whether to stand aside or bravely engage issues
To defy the odds and stand proud before the mast
To be late or early, to depend on timorous fate
Heart ripped asunder over questionable virtues.
Yea, lest anyone think fence-sitting is admirable
Or ignoring the necessities of every day’s wishes
The day arrives when we all must compensate
Stop the handwringing and become comfortable
By manning up to what life dishes.

On a night much like tonight, and as I stood outside my door,
I heard some sounds that set me tingling,
Much like distant church bells ringing,
A peel for help, was in their clarion,
Ringing round from Heath to town, above the ocean roar,
All who lived in this small Hamlet knew that sound from yore,
It was a knell that would be sounded,
Just before a boat was grounded,
Grounded on the rocky coastline, or the rocky shore,
Signifying danger, it was a sound you can’t ignore.
Next I saw Dan Glover running, to the lifeboat he was manning,
Then his Bosun, John, came through,
Followed by the lifeboats crew,
All in eager expectation of helping those in dire distress,
Sailing out in any weather, braving sea and, nights darkness.
It was many hours later, that these brave lads came ashore,
They had rescued three poor seamen, from a crew of four,
Yet again they’d faced that maelstrom,
All that nature’s wildness came from,
Had faced it and had won, against the odds, and nature’s law.
