A dinosaur, two tons or three,
Heard tell from a mammal quite wee:
“Why, one day your tar
Shall burn in a car
That’s driven by creatures like me!”

Mauricio, the merry moose
in Lanny Locke’s garden let loose.
He munched on mulberries,
chips, chestnuts and cherries.
The produce he poached was profuse!
His cousin, Carol the cute caribou
consumed cucumber, cabbage and cashews;
and Kory the cute koala
wandered down from Walla Walla
bringing broccoli, beans and barbecue!

I love my diet, rich in protein,
Of snakes, squirrels, doves, and rabbits most lean.
I tell you this, and I am on the square,
Furry mammals delight beyond compare.
The swiftest, sleekest raptor in the sky,
I soar wide, circling with the sharpest eye.
As feathered death I swooped upon my prey,
But the rat found a hole and got away.
As Taloned Fate I still search and survey,
For careless critters to feast on today.

Creatures of the deep live their
Lives, still in Mother Earth’s womb;
The only womb where they can;
Water mammals joy.

Mammals cried on the domestic site.
They were pursued by homeless shelters.
A calamitous plan destroyed the primate.
Declaring war creeped on mining wheelers.
Deforestation triggered ruins.
They left a ministerial threat.
Incendiary propaganda mouthed great.
The rules crawled havoc with it.
State gave them a baleful coat.
Nocent chemical found it.

A wave plays upon a liquid canvas,
in colors of brown, gold, aqua glass.
Globules mingle in 4/4 time
chiming songs, a crystal voice, sublime.
Somewhere in a distant keep,
are echoes of that briny deep.
Ingrained in oceans memory,
mammalian song is mimicry.
Dive down into the aqueous abyss,
you’ll enjoy a crystalline bliss.
Ride a dolphin into the sunlight,
they are personalities of delight.
An expedition to the coral reef,
gleans the beauty you may seek.
Aesthetic marvels, can be found,
among the corals, that abound.

Murmur ambience above the endless
horizon freewheel briny breeze filled sea.
Nascent movements from their shells come to be
unfurled winks, life beating hearts is timeless.
Calm hums over the ocean and appease
the emotional storm; where bright blue sky
meets the indigo sea, cap speechify
sea foam waves roll into shore shortly ease
before moving back into the sea depth.
With a deep breath of woven weariness
emerge with no utter rebuff weakness
white salt spray in its size and greatest breadth.
Gems of life marine mammals, coral, fish,
turtles, seabirds, rays, octopus, and starfish.

Beneath the ebullient waters,
magical beings slowly glide.
Mammalians of great size and pride;
hiding beneath all the yachters.
All year long you’ll find them playing;
children of old Neptune’s abyss.
Ecstatically living bliss;
breaching dolphins, whales are spraying.
Not a care in the world, have they
and they are so people friendly;
oh, even complementary.
with breach they’ll wish you a nice day!

Early stages of nurture, nature commence
Embracing their vulnerability
The warmth of parental care
Expansion and development
Protection from within
Safety of the uterus, comfort living
Nutritional supply through the umbilical cord
Where life has begun
There are herbivores ready to run
Gestures of giraffes
Leaping deer
We can but revere
Kangaroo offspring, resting pouch
The young will latch
Preparation for a time beyond
Bonding baboons, close knit group
Enveloped in parental care
Weaned through time, skills combine
Destined to change made to adapt
Camouflaged cheetah cubs
Lion’s thick mane
No longer the same
Daring displays of dominant males
Attainment of adulthood, meet lioness
Echoes of elephants, trumpeting trunks
Whistling whales, swim in song
Advancement in accord, accrued stage
Ripened age
