How the World Got Colorful

Green was the theme, mainly green and blue
then came you
in your floral dance and open mouths,
red insect-eating lips. snaky tongues
big, bold, and subjectively pretty,
objectively fleshy,
lushly, lustful, lapping at life.
The sun adopted the new
grey turned greyer next to you.
Blooming bouncing behemoth begonias
yet uncultivated, all hungry to suck the soil,
burst breeding seeds, pollinate, infiltrate,
dominate, habituate, inflate.
Then when the small ape-like manikins
(proto us),
began to populate
they picked you.

Premium MemberA Prophesy of Fuchsias

As flushed as ripe plums the fuchsia does swell
Weighted with thick sap its cloak lushly blooms
Passion’s flower sweetly grieves sad farewell
As our goodbye speaks like this summer’s plume

Our waltz in the sun like sultry guitars
Fueled fiery flames to warm us through the night
Hearts lay like cinders to mix with the stars
Embers smoldered while it squandered our light

Sweet rain does fall as tears with our parting
Shadowed skies have embraced our love’s blind fate
Lost in the glow of sad secrets guarding
Ill-fated lovers whose dance came too late

I can ere forget the lingering fire
For burning hearts bleed with lonely desire

Winter Storm

Winter Storm
By Joji Varghese Kuncheria

The tropical winter in Munnar hills, ?
Brings in due and mild mist every morning, ?
Brings out the coveted taste within us, ?
And thick fog covers us in the evening. ??

Playing a hideous game this season, ?
The sun shows up bright and strong sparingly, ?
Bringing the humid air this mild season, ?
Helping us to sprout all over lushly. ??

We bring that rich aroma they covet, ?
The people love the taste of Munnar tea, ?
And where we flourish richly they visit, ?
We're part of their life; they come to sight-see.??

We rejuvenate their spirits high up; ?
We are the thunder storm in their tea cup.

Iris Before Roses

My roses are teasing with tiny buds right now.
How long before their first flush show?
Thankfully, my bearded iris, hanging low,
Amid the sluggish roses are voluptuously aglow.

Pastel pink, translucent and tissue sheer,
Their flopsy, ruffled petals beguile me I fear!
Charming with serene, easy care elegance,
While roses offer few blooms by chance.

But come first flush of my many gaudy roses,
Slumbering lushly under rose canes, each iris knows,
I’m a foolish handmaiden to their thorny neighbors.
The quiet joys we shared before sustaining my labors.

Premium MemberSummer Rispetto

Green leaves listless languor lushly suspended

Dew glistening on grassy fields in early morn

Breeze gathering, cumulous clouds upended

Sun's rays burning through atmosphere's haze, reborn

Sweet corn on the cob gracing street vendors' stalls

Ice cream creations on cones piled up so tall

Love's blossoms on flower petal arrangements

Bridal showers, joyous wedding engagements

Premium MemberJune, Linger On

O June   linger on with your youthful charm;
Fireflies and evergreen still gloam to disarm
Woods brimming lushly , perfuming the air…

Let springtime flaunt this elegance so rare!

One Proud Yellow Dandelion

One Proud Yellow Dandelion

Lantanas and pears are lushly in bloom,
Baby chartreuse leaves brighten winter’s late gloom
And one proud yellow dandelion.

We wait for the redbuds – where are you?
There are dark spring clouds under the blue,
And one proud yellow dandelion.

Nandina berries like Christmas late,
Spring cold breezes now sealing their fate,
And one proud yellow dandelion.

Courageously the dandelion stiffly stands,
Knowing it will change, blow like sand,
And mother the earth with new children.

To bloom and fly away.

Fragrance

I want to envelope you
Just like you captivate me
... I want to be all over you
I want to be your sweet smelling sensation
I want to be the pleasant smell you wear, confidently
I want to be lushly on you, just like your daily smile
I want to be sprayed all over you...
Just in the right quantity

Ululations of a Maid

Where my body may dwindle,
 As hunger saddles the atmosphere
 But sounds of Joy will always jingle;
 As Mama will lushly care
 Take me to that place

Where shelter may not shield from cold,
Yet I am cuddled in love untold
Where luxury os but a tale,
 But zest never goes stale
 Take me to that place

Where I am clothed in nakedness,
But not stripped of my happiness
 Entangled by poverty's web,
But free from the wrath of a boss
 Take me to that place
 Take me home!

Premium MemberRainy Days

She drizzles on mounds of brick stones
Her tresses pouring like silvery mist
Robed in a veil of pewter and crystals,
Fragrant breath spreading a tune
Across the glossed moorland lushly blazed;
Till she refreshes the prism of grass
Enchanting the eyes from sterling clouds
While barefoot kids fondle her taps.

In October's daze, winds start to prance
As ripened boughs pop confetti of dew...
With her voice waltzing across the sky,
She delivers a lining in float of mist
To gather hues from a wondrous ride
As puddles beneath trickles a glow…
Oh, the youngest daughter of Rain
Coasts on moistened stars; then to fade in grace.

Heart Kiss

Will you kiss my heart tonight Lord?
And make me bloom lushly
like the lotus moon rising over
a barren and lifeless desert

how I languish in the scattered funeral
petals of another orphaned day
seeking only Your radiance and
those luminous orbs that dance
around the sun forever

Who can love me like You—God?
robed in a long dark dream
I wait in the orange embers
of Your Presence
for the only caress that
really matters
the only kiss
that truly endures

Premium MemberMy Valentine

Another Sweetheart’s Day my love
And once again I am alone.
No loving message in the mail
No whispered words by way of phone.

At forty-one, God took you home
You have been gone for fifty years.
The grass grows lushly on your grave.
I place my flowers and shed my tears.

I ask this question every day
And wonder why God planned it so
Why I should live and you should die.
In God’s own time, he’ll let us know.

You said you’d be my love until
My chestnut locks had turned to white.
I hug the promise that you gave.
It keeps me warm the whole cold night.

Curative Leaves

Under divinities shadow,
Rests the tree of life.
With aromatic branches,
Dissected by a pocket knife.

Medicinal veins lushly flow,
Carrying remedial cures.
A verdant daze ensues,
As romantic buds allure.

Poetic smoke…recites,
The stanzas of cannabis trees.
As healthy lungs exclaim,
The power of curative leaves.

The Young Farmer

He plows his harrowed fields—visions grand!
Lushly, planned, large yeilds;
Bugs frantically seeking shields
As farmers plant the hayfields.
