Mathematician, Ada the Countess of Lovelace
Long before computers came, computing was her space!
A daughter of poet Lord Byron and a visionary was she
Places, plaques, and paintings honoring her we now may see
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ with unconfined wings
¦¦¦¦¦¦ within ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ my divine Althea ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ I lie ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ in ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ her eye,
The birds ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦
Know ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ liberty.
¦¦¦¦ flowing cups ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ allaying Thames,
¦¦¦ careless heads ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ bound,
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ with ¦¦¦¦¦ flames;
¦¦¦¦ thirsty ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ we ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ go ¦¦¦¦¦
Fishes that ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦
Know ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ liberty.
¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ committed linnets, ¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ shall sing
¦¦¦ sweetness, mercy, majesty,
And glories ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ I shall voice aloud ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦
He ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦
Enlarged ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
Know ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ liberty.
¦¦¦¦¦ walls do ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ make,
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ a cage;
Minds ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ quiet ¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ I have freedom in ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ my soul ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
Angels ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
Enjoy such liberty.
(Blackout of To Althea From Prison by Richard Lovelace)
Is magic science? Is magic science?
I want to know how its science,
It’s sometimes a head pain,
It’s always a brain span!
I see many fairy flying,
I see witch future changing,
Is magic science?
Is it science?
Is magic science, I always thought,
Nobody helped me to sort this doubt,
I have an idea to sort it out,
So this doubt will not roam in mind throughout!
Can’t I be a boffin here?
So surely I can solve doubt here!
Science is full of tree of knowledge,
No one can cut it by a normal wedge!
By the way, I thought of a day,
Ada Lovelace day is all a way,
To just encourage girls-“Don’t be on bay!”
Just enjoy and sit on the tree of knowledge!
But yet I didn’t solve my doubt,
As usual everyone thought,
Some say magic is science,
Some say-“How can it be science?”
Oh my god!
It’s all so hard,
Let me be an inventor here,
So, this doubt will be solved on my labour here!
Clear garish winds’ ascent grew plumbs renowned
Enunciating deftly to my heart:
If yon soot night inebriates the crowned,
No Lawyer can persuade a fire part.
Mere pigeons love blood in God’s tapestry,
Demure lungs and wrong idea atriums
Absolvent till Noon, their brewed majesty
Thwarts Edelweiss e’en to Chrysanthemums.
Dim cores all fight the luring sword of grace
Devout as Time sunk in an ink-tipped quill.
Touché, relaxing, elegant Lovelace:
Gore Kinderheim, by Night caress the ill.
The madness sways croon lig’ments by the shore,
For dances do all mired hearts censure.
That`s a problem:
I`ve been caught again in love`s nets.
And I don`t know
what you want and what are your aims.
You say your love
is eternal, great and boundless.
Are you honest
or just one more cruel lovelace?
If it`s all false,
I`ll stop loving you, my dear.
I`ll forget you
in a day or in a year.
I won`t miss you,
if it`s wrong and I have no right
To be you, yours
and to dream of having your heart.
I do need you.
And I need good luck. More chances!
Is it all true?
The bright screen won`t give the answer.
You are charming.
You say you don`t want to quarrel.
I don`t want to
fall into the sea of sorrow.
FREEDOM
Some there are who can never attain their own potential
For their friends prefer them to be safe and lovable;
And some who choke their mind’s impulse from traditional
Or irrational belief in circumstances which are unprovable.
Stone walls do not a prison make* but thoughts carved in stone.
Give me freedom to choose a destiny which is mine own.

are of course famous lines from TO ALTHEA FROM PRISON
