This chair has chipped paint.
Its shadow gangly
in the light spilling through
the window. A deep
buttercup bisque steeps.
Through this stream, ember
motility of curdled
cream seeps into pores.
The seat embraces. Blood
colors sugar soft.
Fragments of dust waver
around the chair. Like
the suspended stars, or
the pixel points on
an LCD screen. Crumbs.
Feathers stick to the cheeks,
to be brushed off,
puff into the heavens.
Egg -white tinctured coat
wilts within the humid
air. Like the jaundiced
skin you wished to shed
when you first sundered
the sheets this morning.
This chair rocked my great
grandmother and her
children, and mother. Creaks
like an anchored boat.
Exposed grey brown wood
perishes, stabs the skin.
Like the chilled sea tinted
eyes: an ingress tears
the hushed air- a summons:
her son. Long ago
an apollyon. Starless.
The chair will be kindle
in September, sand-
peach colors imbued,
flushed like the candied
burn of Fall. Her flames.
Relive the fire
in the sky; salt waters
plum green, oily.
tauten red orange arms.
War in the distance-
better. The rose portrait,
diabolus shades stain
a cimmeran- tinted
loss, wound. Chalk inhaled.
And the blaze of two black
holes colliding. Wraiths.
The winter of her life,
within which a lurid
spirit-thin webbed cross
bleeds ash. Freezes; clots.
The bastioned confidence of quarried pride
Conceived no ingress save by iron decree;
Yet vesper-dew, where noiseless graces bide,
Tutored the adamant to clemency,
Till lichened liturgies, by increments unseen,
Unthroned the obdurate from its sovereign mien.
The littoral catechised the granite's bone,
Not with assault, but sacramental wear;
Each undeciphered ripple, one by one,
Absolved the precipice of all its air,
As though the meekest ordinance of tide
Could loose what catapults had never tried.
Thereafter—vision trespassed into sense:
A child, ungarlanded by name or throne,
Inclined his silence with such innocence
That altitudes remembered they were sown;
The mountain, recollecting elder birth,
Relinquished all pre-eminence to earth.
Then every fortress, founded upon weight,
Began to expatriate its ancient claim;
The stars themselves postponed their sovereign state,
As though eternity had altered name;
And what no conflagration could dissever,
One feather of the Infinite undid for ever.
Sumptuous feasts enchanted float on by,
as I peer into an opulent expanse,
garnet clad entrance aglow,
imagine august beauty at its mise en scène peak,
ingress to celestial nirvana’s Laurel-ridden charm,
iridescent veil of cirrus nebula,
window blind ephemeral in situ,
rapid inkling’s meteoric shower,
harvest for the milk and honey bard,
goes beyond elysium horizons,
flight of fancy totem, utter breathless oath,
unearthly surreal lustrous cache,
burst of universal zenith trumpeting,
exalted plot as moonbeam step stair,
just imagine for a spell psalmodic Meccas,
to a hue-laden whirlpool vortex,
that sequesters sun-drenched harbours,
gurgling stream meanders, moss-fleck tides,
mesmerizing shroud of lambent bayou,
hazy plume on silver waterfall,
scarab mountain chain at sapphire dawn,
whose jewel-rich seams glisten enigmatically,
indigo blue species, bold passerine upsweep,
wayfarer halcyon Xanadu bound,
urban forest blackcap’s luscious throb,
snowbird glee club ear chant for
sprightly day-peep first rank,
amber leaf cascade a sequined duvet on barren playground,
rainbow eucalyptus but a foil for sylvan zephyr,
crystal ball elixir knows no quench or glut,
imagine life eternal in my wonder world cocoon

“Where is the unfolding of karma?
Where is liberation-in-life,
or even liberation at death?
There is only One”
Verse revisited on 14-September-2022
When fully undifferentiated is our awareness
Fully integrated with God consciousness
There then remains no separate doer
And God alone is the divine mover
In which case feeling complete
Vaporised self is bliss replete
Knowing that God alone is
Felt within as a bliss fizz
However for the deluded
Duality reality as concluded
Even if glimmers of truth are seen
The soul has acquired not lustrous sheen
Thus attention oscillating between body and soul
Consciousness not quite God’s light we extol
Challenges of earth life’s learning curve
Oft mitigates soul’s gusto and verve
Law of cause and effect stern
Rotates life roles until we so learn
That all are one and the truth is love
Enabled when head-heart hand in glove
In resonance with enlivening throb of bliss
When our heart truthfully exclaims ‘I Am This!’
Until then oh weary hermit, it’s work in progress
As the pulsations of love divine slowly make ingress
Our blue planet, the epitome of primal beauty,
a unique dot of singularity in celestial infinity,
revolved in astral space spinning nature’s splendors,
until on evolution trail hostile species of man arrived.
The creeping swarm of greed called progress
devours the green blanket thriving for ages,
constructs the toxic greenhouse on the planet instead,
extreme climate events trace global warming trajectory.
Glaciers and ice sheets melt at alarming rate,
rise of sea-level is unparallel in human history,
makes ingress of oceans onto land a future reality,
time would come to create the modern Noah’s ark.
The pristine nature was in realm of grandeur
in harmony with its stable innate equilibrium,
the stride of wanton exploitation marches on and on,
if unheeded, it’ll soon cross the sustainability rubicon.

Eye of the needle
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle,
than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” ~ Matt 19:24
***************
Scarred by violence
of estranged silence,
soul behind the screen,
loses it’s bright sheen.
Thought ripples in space,
lost agendas chase,
yet what’s left behind,
are fetters that bind.
Love resource deployed,
infused in the void,
leaves no residue,
as bliss beats renew.
Watch ego undress,
when love makes ingress;
as boundaries blur,
joy begins to stir.
Cleanse heart’s aversion
by soul immersion
in the stream of bliss,
of soul to soul kiss.

A tale of meraki
Overcome by the burden she sat teary eyed
Holding closely her two little boys by her side
Immersed in sorrow they had endlessly cried
After her loving husband had suddenly died.
Soaring from her seat elated with newfound joy,
Making herself a promise with an assured ploy,
She picked up her two boys holding them high
Shedding ambivalence boldly with assertive sigh.
Dedicating bravely to parenting with rigor,
Fighting ingress of despair with almighty vigor,
She crushed hindrances powered by love alone,
Aiming meraki resolutely to reach her throne.
As the boys grew older she faced new struggle
With eagle-eyes she kept them out of trouble,
Enamored in plans for sending them to college,
Guiding them to yearn for power of knowledge.
Not retreating when incurable illness struck,
Refusing to surrender to randomness of luck,
Amid doctor's visits she kept working at her job
As if nothing sublunary would cause her to stop.
Her kids grew up to be intelligent young men
Finding success in college with power of pen,
Earning scholarships for duration of all terms,
Getting job offers from many reputable firms.
Having reached destination of her ardent trip
She embraced her kids with a joyous firm grip,
Longing to hold fervently till they reach their prime,
Knowing well she'll be dead in a very short time.

A splintering wood staircase, a dilapidated door to an old Gothic-type mansion. I stood before an unfamiliar dwelling, totally betwixt as to how I had gotten there. Startled, I began to rise, floated up, the entrance seeming immediately to dissolve, allowing me free unfettered ingress. Then I began walking haltingly down a dismal corridor, eerily lit; passing illuminated cutouts in the walls, both sides of me, unnerving windowed enclosures. Scenes one would expect to see at a serpent or spider exhibit. A dimly lit, cave-like atmosphere. A funnel of consuming darkness. View after view, were accompanied by hideous cries of pain, a grotesque harmony. Each theme was of a similar skeletal landscape, which I surveyed in pitiful sequence. Topography where leafless trees, with elongated trunks and limbs that were the extremities of once independent, living beings, had become trapped, rooted in an otherwise barren, forsaken dimension. Desolate. Suffering, emaciated creatures struggling to free themselves from what appeared a hellish captivity. Reptilian hisses...desperate articulations demanded of me: "Priest, why are you here!? Light as we have never seen before." My reply, "I do not know... I mean you no harm. Please, do not fear this intrusion." At the end of the hall unaided parted a curtain, myself feeling propelled deeper into unfathomable terror, pushed forward by an unseen protagonist with the evil essence of a far-bleaker, danker, unholy colony. In the center of the room, on the floor swiveled a medusa head, with undulating serpents for hair, gaping mouths dripping venom. "What do you want with us," authoritatively questioned the hideous amputation. I responded, "Please, do not fear me. I mean you harm. I don’t have the slightest idea as to how I arrived here, nor why I was sent. "Paul Lucius David. Do you know this name?" More sternly, the fiend demanded: "Paul Lucius David, do you know this name?"-- seeming now perplexed as I. "I truly do not know of whom you speak," my honest response. "Hmm…you will come to know this name. You will come to know this name." And just as mysteriously, I was back, seated on the edge of my bed.
“We are almost there but not quite ~
Not yet graced with spherical sight”
~ quote by poet
Intermediate truths whence known,
in as seen because we have been
to subtler realms denied to most,
but it’s not yet wisdom full blown,
since karmic slate is not wiped clean,
last mile to heaven, yet to coast.
Wisdom downloads and divine light
are offerings of grace imbibed
and perhaps we have pierced the void
but we have not garnered clear sight,
though cravings of ego have died,
soul’s not yet pure and unalloyed.
Allow bliss mists to make ingress,
without self-appraising progress.
