Jealousy

Jealousy is like a disease that takes over your mind,
In your thoughts it's as if they've committed a crime.
Jealousy is a strong emotion,
Sometimes leaving you feeling broken.
It's because of someone's success or riches,
That cause you to act like a *****.
Some times it's from insecurities you have from your past,
Jealousy will make you do compare and contrast.
You feel like a ticking bomb about to explode,
Blood boiling in your veins, you can see it in your face because it shows.
Maybe someone is skinnier than you,
Jealously can make you do things you never intended to do.
Maybe someone has a nicer body than you,
That causes you to act brand new.
Your boyfriend might be looking at another girl,
You start acting like it's the end of the world.
Someone might have the car that you want,
You act stank then play it off acting all nonchalant.
Jealousy might be from fears,
Blowing things out of proportion making things become more severe.
Jealousy can make you become possessive,
At times makes you act aggressive.
Jealousy is like a demon trapped inside,
It can upset you and make you cry.
Jealousy can lead to trust issues,
Make you think your relationship is artificial.
Jealousy from your friend having a better man,
Realizing your life is some what less than.
Jealousy causes unhappiness,
Creating this unexplained darkness.
Jealousy makes you feel discontent,
At times needing someone to talk to so you can vent.
Being smart causes jealousy,
Weighing on your mind heavily.
Jealousy is a sudden rage,
It happens to people of any age.
Jealousy causes resentment,
Quick to pass judgement.
Jealousy is like your harboring a monster,
People assuming that you're some kind of imposter.
Jealousy can be controlled with trust,
All you need is real true love.

Premium Member Poets Are a Funny Lot

Poets are a funny lot
they come for what is sizzling hot
Compassionate? Most times they're not!
they give your rhymes a decent shot
curious to see what you have got
compare and contrast on the spot
criticize the missing dot
or hyphen, but they miss the plot!

Poets are a greedy group
they want to know the latest scoop
what's hidden in the PS soup
their crypitc words an endless loop
they are the lyric writing troop
to help the fallen, most won't stoop
won't stick around till you recoup

Poets are a selfish kind
they only want what feeds the mind
your friendship's based on what they find
within your words that heal or bind
to check on you, they're not inclined
to care for you, they're not designed
"Read me, read me," they remind
"Who cares you've fallen far behind
in life, just write...or please resign
we're here for that which is refined!"

Poets just like you and me
like to feel that we are free
we lack the basic empathy
to reach into reality
and ask, "What else but poetry
is in your life? Please let me see
your heart to intimate degree."
There's more to life, don't you agree?
So show true love's sincerity,
and check on every absentee
Let's strive to keep community

Eieen Manssian

PS This poem is a little tongue in cheek. I've been away from here for quite some time, ocassionally posting to try to fit in again. Very few have asked about me. I've been going through very difficult times and have been struggling on many fronts. Very few will understand the meaning of one's silence. However, I know I can't expect care when I haven't extended it to others. I've been absent and haven't visited, so this poem is for all of us....me included as I'm a poet as well. Let's remember: there are people behind the lines. There are stories behind the names as pseudonyms.

Premium Member Where Winning Is Cooperative Play

Compile a list of all your losses,
worst moments,
fears and hatreds,
your defensive fears
and most angry
dispassionate
paranoid dualdark bilateral margins,
edges,
boundary issues
and double-binding love-hate dipolarities
of gooey too-yin stuckness
in ambivalent waves
of notnot yet
notnot past
so all is left
is Lose to Lose
notnot (0) remainder hopeless.

Now compare a fractal spiral
of all your gains
from embryonic Winter
WinWin (0)-sum Mother's Womb,
through pre-pubescent LeftBrain growing dominant languaged Spring,
on into full middle-aged
and gendered Left and RightBrain balancing Summer
of egalitarian ecopolitical EarthTribe peace
with global ego/eco-justice,
through Elder RightBrain's sacred ecological Fall
as Autumn Harvest Yang-with-Yin Solidarity Strength
and not so much Original Sin of Monocultural Hubris
acting against, to oppress,
MotherEarth as Yin RightBrain EcoCentering Wisdom
about how to play our cooperative
WinWin
Boundary Issues
from marginalizing birth
through demarginalizing death,

Now compare and contrast
listed losses
with spiraling gains
toward WinWin.

As marginal victims flow through boring Business As Usual
economic and political and psychological classes
on how best to not measure progress
transcending military-industrialized competitive violence,
way too much LeftBrain dominant
over-Yanged hubris,
way too pre-millennial
to even think WinWin
YangYin
about
bipolarities now new-edged
Yang with Yin,
Left with Right, double-margin wu-wei
ego with eco-therapeutic bilateral opportunities,
health care giving and receiving for all
climates
and landscapes,
boundaries
and relationships,
marginalizing issues
and bicameral ego/eco-systemic opportunities
to play polypathic WinWin.

Premium Member BETTY AND THE DOCTOR

We are pet sitting our neighbor’s cat and dog…which means we’re wearing two hats
one for Betty (she’s the dog) and one for Doctor (he’s the cat).

Dogs and cats are different…we know this to be true…
so I’ve had the opportunity to compare and contrast the two.

I’ve been walking Betty in the morning…she get’s excited once her leash she’s shown
while Doctor…when he chooses to go out…prefers to walk alone.

A walk with Betty takes twice as long as she sniffs everything…big, little skinny or fat…
while Doctor on the other hand is much too dignified for that.

Betty loves to be petted…needs to be petted every minute of the day
While I must ask permission to pet doctor…sometimes he agrees….
other times he merely walks away.

If we walk by the kitchen or sit at our table Betty thinks it’s time to eat
It’s as if she never full…and for food she’s always yearning…
Doctor prefers to order off the menu and dine while listening to classical music
with a scented candle burning.

When Betty is thirsty and she sees water…in her bowl, a birdbath…
a puddle in the street…she will always take a drink…
Doctor prefers to sip his water as it trickles out the faucet
while he sits in the bathroom sink

When Doctor sings he sings soprano…while Betty is a baritone….
You get the picture when it comes to Betty the dog
and Doctor the cat…
they each possess a beauty all their own.

While Betty was busy sniffing on our walk this morning
I had more time to enjoy the moon, the clouds and the stars…
And I realized how Betty and Doctor are a lot like Jupiter and Mars.

Both are singularly beautiful….
both shining with their own unique and special light
both are there to comfort us during the day
and both brighten up the night.

I Know I Hardly Know You

Excuse me miss...I didn't mean to alarm you
But I noticed your beauty from a mile away
I stand before you and here to slow ya walk
Maybe we can try to talk...
Compare and contrast our feelings in which
We can maybe one day make it a bond.
Living in Twin Galaxies...in which I feel as if I was
Put in a fairy tale with once upon a time beginning and
Happily ever after as my ending
Mel is what they call me
The Most Efficient Lover is something I define myself as
I may look like a guy with all talk....
But catch the message that I am sending
To build a new relationship with
A person with hips who sway through the wind
Baby girl I aint pretending.
Y=Mx+b the equation for slope in which describe our relationship perfectly because
as I rise and make my way
Into your heart
There is no reason for one to run
Why should their be a reason 2
Not fully understanding what makes you a glorious
Individual
I stand strong like Goliath
As I fight my way through battles
And shielding myself with all the negativity
I stand victorious and hold my head up because I met some on as special as you.
Challenging myself to go through different
Basically im trying to have a buddy who rider dies
The one I can claim and say its all mine
Because cute doesn't define your beauty
You went beyond the line called Fine.
Try to make it in these streets in which we call
Society
I write this poem not because im not anxious
and doing this out of anxiety
A real man doesn't call you his property
That aint cool.....
Let me hold you under my wing I will show you
How a real man take care of his lady
Where did I learn this.... Let me thank the 2 individual who raised me.

Soccer

An activity that is beautiful to the eye
Fun to watch and be part of
A unifying pillar across continents
Individuals relentlessly chase an inflated object
In a bid to own possession
And make a score
An act charming the heart
For teamwork becomes the spirit

The tussle has witnessed disheartening actions
Accompanied by life-threatening tackles
Is it out of malice and erroneous decision?
A stern warning is given
A repetition would lead to being awarded a yellow card
The worst penalty being a red which sends one off

Victors relish in the moment
And they celebrate wildly
They brag about their dominance
Losers loathe the verse of defeat
But have received learning
Despite the loss hurting deep within
For the pain is so severe
Like small children, they break down in tears

A breading ground for division
Hatred is spewed among those blinded by anger
They become inconsolable
Laying a way for racism as they embrace the use of demeaning words
Where they liken their fellow countrymen to animals
Is it a means to find solace for a loss?

A platform for endless debates
Giving birth to supremacy battles across the globe
Seeking to compare and contrast the best
Coupled with heated arguments
Like drunkards, they speak out their minds
Hiding behind the name, post-match analysis

Fingers are pointed
Curses are continuously thrown
Blames are leveled
To individuals who made costly mistake
The beauty of the messy period being an end
Where players happily shake hands
Embracing each other freely
The spirit for coexistence lives on
Like undying flame kept alive by additional logs!

Premium Member My New Form Is Being Used- I'M Tickled Pink,Tell Me What You Think

I’ve tried out a brand new form
It’s strange and not quite the norm
It’s been tried by two
Now how about you?
It’s honey, so start a swarm!!

Tried by R L and F J
Just let your pen find the way
To bring it some fame
Please join in the game
Try it…now what do you say?

Eileenesque sounds so divine
You need to try out your rhyme
Reverse the quatrain
No, it’s not a pain
Results can be quite sublime!

This is my one shot at fame
I know, it does sound so lame
Make my wish come true
Or I’ll just be blue
My life...will not be the same!!!

I want to thank Richard Lamoureux and F J Thomas for trying out my form. My poem…and the explanation of the form you will find under this title….Revenge’s Reward….Richard’s poem is Word Play….and F J Thomas’ Poem is Life’s Invincible Circle- Eileenesque! YES!!!! I had originally thought each stranza could have a mono-rhyme going on so it would be easier to make that fifth line that is tagged on to each quatrain “fit” but you can compare and contrast and give your own feedback. I’m just tickled pink that these two lovely friends and poets made my…..DAY…WEEK…and MONTH!

A Meeting of Minds

Human suffering via the lens of social injustice juxtaposed to the same past.
Enslavement, slavery, and Indian removal from their sacred lands
Who hands are damned?

      The universe is included.
Terrorism
      War
Famine
      Political asylum
All compare and contrast.

      Historical movements for the cause,
Today we are a backwards spiral - no joy.
As nations of people become one in a country, the government becomes corrupt.
Are we the democracy that embraces tyrants?

Lack of equal protection of the Law
No due process going on
      Just a picture of corruption

      Religious emergence has occurred.
Social Theology is the covenant.
However, no one wants to face-up to the capitalism that has self-destructed.
Personal recourse is not within an Ayn Rand world
That belongs to the work force.

I pledged alliance to our spirit and our soul when I was child preparing to enter the
      business world.
This agreement was written in the Preamble.
      Why is it today ignored?

The Minds Elusive Light

To die, to hope, to love, to give
To fight, to hurt, to want, to live

Life as a star, scorching heat, burning bright
Under the sun, scorching heat, reflecting light

Angels and demons all burn by flame
Illuminated, they are the same

Under the sun, within the mind
We are one, light leaves us blind

Compare and contrast, how long will we last?
Slow to fast, quickly, before we're passed

By our morals, convictions, the sun above
By our zeal, ambition, the moonlight love

Swallowed instead by our stubborn lethargy
Consumed, mislead, by our comatose apathy

Do not rely on the sun to always give
Do not lean on light, life eternally to live

Time is long, life is short, passion even less
Reason can be sound, memory can be stout, the mind can regress

Choices can be wrong, life is short, plans turn to mess
Answers can be found, decision and doubt, chance prone to guess

Spend wisely your brief life, utilize passion to find purpose
Remain fluid and elusive, overcome weakness, pursue your bliss
