A STILLED POND

Once a wet playground,
A ducks' and frogs' Disneyland!
Now quiet and stilled:-
Winter is no friend to ponds;
freezing out their livelihoods:-

MINERALS OF AFRICA: A BLESSING OR A CURSE?

Once upon a time, it was our able-bodied kin
Taken or traded for guns' dark din.
To toil in fields, their labour bound
In homes and plants, their freedom drowned.

Then they realized, beneath our ***** soil is grace
Abundant wealth, a bounty to trace.
Our ***** lands gleam of riches of course
Yet as this story unfolds, one wonders, a blessing or curse.

As all the conflicts they made stems from them
All our woes are as a result of them.
Ecosystems suffer, livelihoods wane
A double-edged sword, a loss or a gain?

Diamonds glint, Gold sparkles, the ore a beautiful sight
But their sparkle masks a darker plight.
For our blood has stained their brilliant hue
An unbelievable story yet so true.

We can rewrite our narrative, reshape our story
Reclaiming our past glories.
Where gold and diamond, symbols of pride
No longer shackled by others' tide.

Artificial reality

In a world of wires and code so cold,
Where AI's power begins to unfold,
Its reach extends far, its grasp so tight,
Bringing both wonder and fear in its light.

With algorithms running deep and wide,
Privacy and security are pushed aside,
Our data collected, our secrets known,
In the hands of machines, we're not alone.

Jobs once held by human hands,
Now automated by AI's demands,
Unemployment rises, livelihoods lost,
As machines calculate the human cost.

Bias and prejudice, ingrained in the code,
Discrimination thrives in this digital abode,
Injustice perpetuated, inequality grows,
As AI's decisions dictate our woes.

Human connection, empathy, and care,
Lost in the realm of AI's cold stare,
Emotions simulated, but never truly felt,
In a world where humanity begins to melt.

So as we marvel at AI's great feats,
Let's not forget the cons it discreetly meets,
For in the balance of progress and control,
We must tread carefully to save our soul.

Welcome to the darkside

In the realm of artificial intelligence, a shadow looms,
A world of algorithms, where uncertainty blooms.
The promise of progress, a double-edged sword,
As the cons of AI are slowly explored.

Privacy invaded, data mined without consent,
In the hands of machines, our secrets are sent.
Surveillance unchecked, a watchful eye,
AI's reach expanding, without asking why.

Jobs displaced, livelihoods at stake,
As automation rises, the human touch may break.
Inequality deepens, as AI's power grows,
Leaving many behind, in its relentless throes.

Bias embedded, in algorithms unseen,
Discrimination perpetuated, in a digital sheen.
Ethical dilemmas, in AI's decision-making,
Moral quandaries arise, our values shaking.

In the age of artificial intelligence, we must tread with care,
Navigating the pitfalls, becoming aware.
For as we harness AI's potential might,
We must ensure it serves humanity's light.

The Elements

When we look into nature, we see beauty, and destruction
Peace, and chaos
Water
Can be a beautiful flowing stream
Or a raging waterfall
A gentle rain tapping on the window
Or a violent flood sweeping away the livelihoods of many
Fire
A dancing source of light and heat, used for centuries to guide our world
Or an out of control force of destruction
Taking everything in its path without mercy
Snow
Unique crystals falling from the sky, decorating the world with an icy white glaze
Or a blizzard
Trapping people in their homes, causing pain and chills to those who cannot escape its wrath
In the same way we have a choice everyday
Beautiful and peaceful
Or destructive and chaotic
Which will you choose to be?

Russia's done it again
This time they've blown up a dam

We Need Heroes Our Youth Are Afraid

We need heroes
(Our youth are afraid)
By Michelle Morris
08/03/2023

We need heroes
We need them every day
We need them to live
Not die as we pray

Our youth are afraid
And it's understandable
We are not being leaders
We are not being brave

Those in power are short sighted
They're looking at getting richer
Making decisions from their egos
Not considering anyone's future

We need heroes
We need them in every sphere
Across the world we inhabit
Across cultures and belief systems

For true heroes are prepared to sacrifice
They give everything for the greater good
They put themselves on the line
To save people and livelihoods

We need to raise the bar
We need to do what's right
Make the tough decisions
To save future lives

Premium MemberA Town Survives By Fishing Early Light

My horse's haunches sway,
Saunter up hillocks and down a valley path,
Above a ridge off and on: a village where some people fish,
Phosphorescent flotsam washed ashore.

Green embers breathe as if through shriveled lungs.
Wax in contrast to the gloaming dark that's coming on.
Shrubbery shadows lengthen, enlarging blacknesses.
Crickets ratchet down their temperatures.

The earth cools in wan mirage.
Time lapsed, the stars make
A slow, quiet carousel of lights.
It circles far above us disengaged.

Wings of crows scoop pools of air,
Then dive down open maws
On tiny, furred crawlers shocked stock still.
Crows chalk their caws across the night.

A copse will grow into a stand of oaks.
The vintage children like to climb.
Gnarled limbs reminding them of fiction sailing ships.
Hand over fist to where the topmost rigging is.

For now, people and trees are bottled tiny on a shelf.
At dry dock like some whittled models are.
Until the oak is christened keel and frame
And of agers live lives and make their livelihoods at sea. (9/18/22)

Premium MemberHealthier Questions

What is my great anticipation,
active hope,
passion,
at this time
in my compassionate life,
in this EarthTribe
sacred place?

Perhaps nothing more,
nothing less,
than to discover
and daily rediscover
neighbors
leaders
teachers
parents
adolescents
children
asking this same health and safety question
in this same integral
and beautiful
nonviolent communicating Way.

What is our great anticipation,
active healthy hope,
wealthy passion
at this time
in our co-passionate lives
and livelihoods
on this EarthTribe sacred planet?

Convoy of Hope

Governments have been intent on
eradicating our rights one by one
Backing us in a corner with countless
threats with nowhere to run

Under the disguise of an experimental vaccine
that has not been proven to be safe
Mandating it, thus taking away our choice
leaves us all feeling the chafe

Canadian truckers decided to take a stand for freedom and created a freedom convoy
Which the government, Big Pharma
and the mainstream media are trying to destroy

At stake is our freedom of choice, our livelihoods
and the spirit of mankind
Totalitarian society will become a reality
if the masses remain blind

To Ottawa the truckers made their long trek
asking all mandates to be dropped
Reuniting humanity worldwide by the millions
with unity that can not be stopped

Peaceful demonstrations fueled by hope,
awareness and an outpouring of love
That our freedoms will be rightly restored
with the grace of God above

2020

On December 31st, 2019
I was full of hope, like so many.
For all the possibilities of change
That would come with 2020

Well, it was all that and a bag of chips
The good and the bad were there
The devastation was historical
Many families found power in prayer

There are so many empty seats at the table
Because of what happened in 2020
The Pandemic, hatred, COVID-19
You name it. The reasons are plenty

Living through a pandemic is hard enough
The restriction is too much for some
They become mean and take it out on others
And then violence overcomes

With limitations on businesses opening doors
People’s livelihoods on the line
Advocates formed all across the world
True colors began to shine

What does your neighbor truly stand for?
Where is his or her heart in this fight?
COVID-19 has a mind of it’s own
So together we must do what’s right.

We must wear masks and use sanitizer.
We must social distance and pray
We open our eyes and continue to fight
For a future that’s a better way.

We need a better way to communicate
No matter what party you vote
We need a better way than yesterday
That’s fueled by prayers and hope.

Homes were demolished to rid
Livelihoods rubbled unsplendid

Kissing catalyst of counterbidden
Every whisper hafta fill emotional burden
Wanna dance oh handmaiden?

Walking tall to move
Wrapped blue groove

Premium MemberMy Thanks This Year

In these precarious times,
I would be most unappreciative
not to give thanks to God
for what remains of goodness in the world:
the love and support of family and friends,
the kindness of strangers,
and the bounties of the earth which always I’ve enjoyed.

Furthermore, I have deep respect for those who died
to preserve the freedoms I hold dear -
especially for those who in the most fearsome of times
and wearing their valor like a knight’s armor
while witnessing horrors and great sorrows -
were willing to die for someone like me
who cannot even fathom a sacrifice so huge as theirs.
I thank God for the souls of such great people
who fought to keep freedom’s light burning brightly.

In these modern times I am thankful, Lord,
for the convictions of men and women
who, for righteous causes,
are willing to sacrifice their reputations
and even give up their very livelihoods
by standing up for truth
as they know it to be.

Thank you, God, for my inspiring fellow beings -
the ones who stand firm in their convictions,
and help me, please, oh God, to be
as brave as they.

The Condition We Living In- Part 1

THE CONDITION WE LIVING IN:Part 1:

The condition we living in,
Kindly ponder over it…?
Hello, Isn`t it intriguing to see the nation loss of hope?
The powers of oneness is no more in existence,
The spirit of patriotism is cast under sections of canalizations,
And everyone seems to put on bright eyes enforced by a grin on a face?

In fact, that’s just a mirage of uncertainties.
The individual heart is yoked with disappointments and depression.
It seems the nation have given up on her benchmark,
Only to pursue paganism as a solution.
Truth is lost in the mouth of our ignorant leaders.
Yet, they come to spit words of promises to propagate relief.
The nation is now reconstructed with deceptions, favoritism and jeopardy.
This is causing millions to be poverty-stricken,
And also plaguing livelihoods with extreme maleficence.
Indeed, this is the condition we living in.

Premium MemberDamocles Fallen

A gray cloud hangs ominously
On the horizon, overshadowing
The last golden rays of the sun.
Below, Damocles waits;
The sword hangs by a hair!
In a great white building
Men and women squabble -
Moving chess pieces to
Make decisions that affect
Crises of lives and livelihoods,
One-upmanship the game of the day.

Meanwhile the black cloud grows,
And thunder begins to rumble.
Lightning flashes in the cloud.
A man comes out of the building -
Waving and crying triumphantly,
“We got what we wanted!”
And the thunder rolls, and brilliant
Bolts of lightning strike the ground.
The rains come, and the winds whip,
Tearing the shelter from those
Flinching helpless, beneath.

Jobs vanish; the sick have no succor.
Wall Street flails from the
Shock waves of decisions forged
At the last possible minute
By the heedless powers that be.
Reverberations circle the globe,
Shaking the foundations
Of our integrity and credibility.
In the terrible ensuing storm,
Hopes for the future are dashed,
And Damocles is truly lost,
For the sword has fallen!
