At The Light

When driving the car
approaching a traffic light
it has often been seen
both day and night
what does green mean
here's the plan
for better or worse
drive as fast as you can
then red and amber
if you will
put the foot down
even faster still
and when it turns red
don't dare to dwell
or stop dead
but now go like a bat out of hell

Premium Member Meryl the Peril

There is an odious gal named Meryl
Go meddling with Meryl at your peril
She bites where it hurts
And calls it her perks
For being an adventurous rebel.

Meryl once bit a fella on the neck
He said “dear, I only asked for a peck”
So peck she then did
And charged fifty quid
He shot off at once and said “I’ve no cheque.”

Meryl ran like a bat out of hell
Used to it Meryl was, one can tell
As there was no way
She’d bite without pay
For she was going through a dry spell.

Meat Loaf Tribute Rip

The world turning vegan and we’ve lost our Meat Loaf
Nothing really rocks and nothing really rolls
music that was worth the cost
A real dead singer we loved
A real dead sinner leave us
And if he’s gotta be dammed
you know he wants to be dammed dancing through the night with you,
And now we won’t do that
Forget dreaming every night of our lives,
No way, I would do anything for loaf,
but he won’t come back
took the words right out of his mouth,
It must have been that COVID 19 weaz
Like a bat out of hell was unwell when the mourners come
Now life is over like a bat out of hell he is gone gone gone

A few lyrics of Meat Load set up this tribute
so saddened by the news in my final salute

A Case of Possession Or Not

She was possessed or so they imagined what else could it be
only two years old and already she could speak fluent Spanish
though she never heard the language in the household before;
She cried for her mother and when her mother arrived she said
" mommy what is your name " and then the lights in the room
shut down by themselves...
Then came the night when the window frosted in her bedroom
though it was summer and the temperatures were way above
the window frosted with ice and the roomed chilled to below Zero;
When the Priest attempted an exorcism prayer and genuflected,
she gave out a guttural laugh and yelled, " Padre Arrependito "
repent Father, repent, he ran out of the house like a bat out of hell....

KARENA FROM SARENA

Like a bat out of hell,
In the dark does she dwell.

Thinks she’s La Belle,
But in fact a mere shell,

Her name is Karena,
And she lives in Sarena.

She tells fantasy tales,
About females and males,

Oh my, not the same,
All over again,

For upon my word,
All she says is absurd!

She assumes she is clever,
And to this end will never,

Admit she’s outsmarted,
That is only for the fainthearted

Says she is humble not famous,
Her thoughts quite outrageous!

So if you ever hear of Karena,
Who lives in Sarena,

Steer clear, for your name
Made mud by this dame

She burps and blurbs, insults hurls
A woman whose mind twists and twirls!

Pure Fantasy you say,
Absolutely, all the way!

Last Acorn

Last Acorn

the last acorn on earth
was lonely
the old oak trees
were dying

and humanity was gone
killed off by the corona virus
round two
that erupted out of China
like a bat out of hell
killing almost all humans

and without humans
well somethings just did not happen
and the oak trees were abandoned
and he was the last acorn
the last of his species alive

he wept when he realized
that he would die
all alone

Premium Member Funnies On This Fine Sunday Afternoon

I want to write a funny poem to wake everyone up
From this Sunday grogginess
Why do you feel so lazy on Sunday?
Because it’s a rest day you fool
Why do you run like a bat out of hell from your job on Friday?
It’s because you’ve been cooped up in there like they own you
Why do you sing when there is no one listening?
Because you are afraid they would really see you in a different light
Ohh such a fool you are
You like to make fun of yourself
But you are too afraid of what people may think
Oh well, what the heck
People already know what a fool you are
So it wouldn’t hurt my friend
Go ahead you have my permission
What hurt can it do?
Except your silly pride
And didn’t the Bible say
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace”? (Proverb 11:2)
See now you have God’s permission, lol

Dysfunctional Interventions

Dysfunctional Interventions

Dysfunctional interventions
Spiritually twisted at times
Not to mention these convictions
weighing heavily above me
Who are you to judge me?
I have one life to live
What, do you have more?
The way you skate on thin ice
you should already be sore
Those notes written across your lips
that you spit so swift
like a bat out of hell
Your soul you try to sell
Oh, but wait…that’s your wishing well
What you wish upon me
Shall be done to you
Cause God don’t like ugly
If only you knew
My demeanor is refreshing
Always count my blessings
My ambition is so futuristic
But you push me off to the side line
Like your quarter backs fill-in
Could you tell me what the deal is?
Maybe he is prince-charming
With envisions like me
But you turn it into an investigation
Like it’s a crime scene
Is it a crime to be happy?
Or is this jealousy and envy
that surround us constantly
Explanation from ignorance doesn’t suit me
Knowledge from wisdom circulates me frequently
 These extremities exceed
The means of living way beneath
And these proceedings from predictions
Are dysfunctional interventions

Whiskey Wings

ever been whiskey bent and hell bound?
like hank williams junior and those homocidal hounds...
ever talked to yourself and heard mad melodies?
ever talked to the devil and heard sad symphonies?
ever try to fly to heaven on a pair of whiskey wings?

like a bat out of hell...an expansion of evil
that poisonous potient leads south to destruction
i reach for the stars and drown in deceit...like a bird in a cage wearing whiskey wings

like a river of rage...i dive headfirst into wicked water...
vomitting violence at abomination altars
i stumble and i stagger...my many mistakes make me falter
i do mile long lines so i can go further

sound turns to silence...i'm fleeing this scene
i get mixed in the mayhem...wearing whiskey wings

lost in a land of empty bottles and broken dreams...fractured skulls and skeletons swing from nooses on death trees

i eat poisonous fruit from a garden of disease...i can't fly to heaven on whiskey wings
