Look at a ladybug
happily frolicking
on a plant
Count all her
little black dots
and let her crawl
onto your hand
Keep watching as she
spreads her wings
and carefully picks
her moment to fly
Watch how her red
catches the sunlight
as if seeing this
for the very first time
Look through the eyes
of a child, amazed
because you enjoy
this little event
immensely

I've never been to Kathmandu
it's highly unlikely I'm ever going to
and I don't consider macaques the least bit holy
while some there choose so to do
tho' they may be Nepalese aristocracy
no they won't make a monkey of me
such couldn't leave me any colder
as it's all in the mind's eye of the beholder
and who decides what is 'God'
of all possibilities chapter and verse in the universe
why give such Old World primates the nod
how about a slug or a ladybug
polyphyly and insects are equally relevant too
in fact if we're allegedly created in 'His' likeness
why not me... or even you?

Leonard was getting a date for the ladybug ball
He watched for her, through the weeds so tall
But she was walking with his best pal Jim
So, he decided to go away, and give her to him.
But wait, there is no other ladybug you like?
This was said to him by his godfather, Mike.
Not really, Leonard said, but it is okay.
The night of the dance, he stayed away.

Its so weird,
I think ladybugs are the prettiest bug,
But why am I deeply terrified of them?

Words: Use the following words in a poem. Pretzels, shout, threshold, pine, now, sulfur, ladybug, percolate, cap and lamp
Let’s give a shout out
to the one who eats hot
salty soft pretzels.
Who holds a pine scented
lamp that sputters and flares
in the darkest night.
While they watch gooey
black tar percolate from
the bowls of the earth.
A cautious ladybug creeps
across the felt cap of
of the pretzel eater.
Now is the time to swat
the nefarious ladybug
as she steels across their cap.
Smack! The ladybug is
no more as a sudden soft scent
of sulfur permeates the air.

I love pretty spring,
flowers it will bring,
now I want to sing.
Colors flowers wear,
in cool spring day air.
Pretty is my yard,
looking like a card,
fence will be a guard.
I really see,
a big yellow bee,
it's looking at me.
Look a butterfly,
flying real high,
is he saying hi?
The red ladybug,
I want a big hug.

On a tree, lived a ladybug named Sue
She wore a red frock with dots of teal blue
In summer she came with grace
She roamed through my garden's space
A cat caught and ate her with a loud chew.

DOG LADYBUG FROM HEAVEN
A ladybug landed on me today
This ladybug never wanted to fly away
This special ladybug landed on my arm
I knew it never meant any harm
I was always told ladybugs come from heaven
To help people with depression
Supposedly the dog angels send ladybugs
For healing and good luck
I know this is my Sadie who came to make me smile
Because this was always Sadie's special way and style
I will always remember this special day and time
And wait another day for Sadie to send her next special sign

She came in as subtly as a verdent roach can
disguised as a ladybug, in a red polka dotted outfit
Beetles, grasshoppers and worms gave her a wide berth
feeling that something was wrong, but not quite knowing what
one brave firefly flew over to have a closer look
“It’s the one we banished,” he reported.
They chased her away, then, led by a young boy.
Bugs being who they are.

I'm the fairy of the garden
I protect it, cure and guard it
from the beetles and the lice
and the army of the aphids
I'm revered, I'm beloved
like a queen around the globe
even preserved from the cold
jealously kept more than gold
I eat aphids, I eat lice
I' m pretty, red and spotted
save the crops, save the oranges
after Our Lady named appropriate.

Ladybug, my Ladybug,
Large you're not and not a slug.
Leaves you-leap to so cute my little bug.
Like Strawberry wings does my heart you tug.
Light and small you are zephyr does snug.
Lawn and garden blooms you hug.
Lace azalea on leaf underside does shrug,
Last the spider looking so smug.
Ladybug, you’re my little Ladybug,

In my favorite store the "Book Nook",
on a leaf I saw a ladybug reading a book!
She looked up with the tiniest smile,
said, "Hello, have a seat, read awhile."
Astounded I was by this clever little bug,
an insect that I just wanted to hug
and found myself engaged in a conversation,
about the wisdom of the insect nation.
So profound and wise I found her to be,
she read to me, while swinging her tiny feet;
said she, with tiny voice, "Did you know,
that my species allows the plants to grow?"
"We dine on thousands of aphids, you see;
while they get pollinated by the bees.
To faeries I often give many rides,
throughout the gardens, far and wide."
"Shall I tell my cousins of your garden needs?
I assure you, with our work you'll be pleased."
So, about three thousand I did invite
and they keep our garden growing just right.

Squirrels befriended a soft-spoken kind ladybug faerie
She was thrilled with their oak tree which was incredibly airy
She asked if she could invite her friends Berry, Gerry, Terry and Larry
The squirrels enjoyed them so much they let her also invite her pal Mary.
