Tennis with Jai Liu

Flying foxes hang replete from the tall trees
dripping in the morning sun. They have sucked
the flesh of mamey sapote, rambutan and mangosteens.
Their dog-like pelts are copper pendants
that seep a dawn drenched dew onto our heads.
The summit of Penang Hill is reserved for the rich
who live above the heat and hustle.
Cool nights favor a fragrant adulatory.
Jia Liu has an 'Uncle' that is not related to her.
When he is away she takes me to the villa
as a tennis partner, and sometimes lover.
After the game we stroll under the bat dribble.
“It’s good for your hair,” she says laughing,
running ahead. I call after her:
“Where do they go in the heat of the day?”
“To the fruit markets in George Town,
“they hang from the rafters.”
Last night I was with her again - a dream.
We were drinking amrita of guava,
our lips smeared with a sweet red thirst.

our lips smeared
with a sweet red thirst
that felt no shame.

Jai Hind

A poem for republic day.....
~~~~~ Jai Hind ~~~~~~~~
From great nation, India, we hail,
Where Indus valley used to prevail.
Emperors came, emperors gone,
We always regained our own throne.
Last was the English invasion on us,
Brutal than Alexander, Ghazni, and Poras,
Wings of Golden Bird were torn,
To teach Non-violence, Bapu was born.
Bhagat, Rajguru, Sukhdev chose their way,
With combined efforts came a strong ray.
Nehru, Lala, Shashtri we can’t forget,
But for unsung heroes we regret.
Finally the moment of freedom came,
Now the wildest elephant we could tame.
Tricolour perpetually tells us to go on,
Despite of Ram, Rahim, Aryan or John.
Democracy, harmony we really praise,
Most of the intellectuals of all, we raise.
Tell everyone this noble story.
How to take the nation to zenith of glory.
Independence and republic day are not only to celebrate,
We must ever have full respect to commemorate.
India is united from Kashmir to Chennai and Assam to Sind,
Let’s come together and say aloud Jai Hind Jai Hind Jai Hind.
In the Basque tongue of Spain, it means “merry festival”.
This is a very fast-paced game designed to enthrall.
Players with very long wicker baskets sling a ball
at vicious speeds to bounce off a high front fronton wall.
It is just one of many versions called “pelota”.
A goat-skin ball is volleyed with a “cesta-punta.”
It is played between teams on a court called a “cancha”.
The game draws gamblers in New England and Florida.
Plenty of excitement is there when the games begin.
The teams of players score seven or nine points to win.
To many spectators, it is exciting and fun
until they lose all their money and become undone.
pronounced "HIGH-lie"
Jai Ho
Forever I am yours,
My rock, my heart,
You stand behind me,
No matter my decision,
You support me,
I will watch you age,
You will watch me age,
Forever my destiny;
Lies with you,
My one and only love,
Possessing my heart,
I shall never lose you,
You are always there;
And will always be.
Jai Guru Deva Omm
Every time I sit in one spot by myself
Every time I am alone in my thought
Every time I want time to slow down
I just lay in my bed and don't udder a sound
I stare at the ceiling and make the sight void
I want all the feelings to bathe me in voice
You are nothing without leaving a mark
You are invisible if your words do not spark
You are aching to find what you are
But when you find that moment of not having a care
That moment where you place yourself inside the air
Where every thing is blurring past you and you don't mind
You find yourself happy at nothing at all
Enjoying the drug that is a carefree vibe
And in your head you lie you lie you lie
Nothings going to change my world
Nothings going to change my world
Nothings going to change my world
Nothings going to change my world
