when he says witch he means something bad
when I say witch I feel appreciative and glad
Wiccans are gardeners, of a sound mind
Motto “to do no harm”, they are gentle and kind.
Male authors portrayed them as bad long ago.
In faerie tales, so the readers thought so….
It was a mean thing, but these men were intimidated
By women whose gardens and confidence were inflated.

do not be intimidated by fancy birds
they put their earrings on one at a time
like the drag queen peacocks
and the flabbergasted flamingos
do not be intimidated by fancy birds
you can carry off glitz and glamor as well as they
even if you cannot fly up to the top of an oak tree
you can walk along the porch railing and crow

it was a solemn October evening, the kind despicable witches love
I am a white witch, this is not my favorite kind of evening.
From a branch in a high tree I spied a flash of yellow
It was an owl; he had his head turned slightly.
When he blinked I could not see him at all.
When he opened his eye, I felt intimidated
By a sage owl’s concentrated stare

You can’t intimidate me,
For I am stronger than you see.
With steel resolve and steady hand,
I’ll face your threats and take my stand.
You think your words can make me quiver,
But I won’t bow to your deliver.
I’ll rise above your petty schemes,
And show you what true courage means.
Your bluster may be loud and brash,
But it won’t shake me from my path.
I’ll hold my ground like mountain stone,
And face you down with heart alone.
So go ahead and do your worst,
I’ll face the fire and quench the thirst.
For I am brave and unafraid,
And your intimidation won’t dissuade.
In the end, I’ll still be me,
Strong, resolute, and ever free.
And you, my foe, will know the truth,
That you can’t intimidate this youth.

I am intimidated by her tallness
How can I ever hope to climb her?
I like getting to the top, but this is ridiculous.
My daddy gives me a nod. You can do this, Kid.
I am not confident.
But she is so gorgeous, and calling me.
It is like she has chosen me, so I begin the climb, terrified.

He came by to see her project, not caring for Zoom.
His male arrogance preceded him into the room
She attempted to show him her cyborg solution.
Off task, he told her about his ideas for pollution.
I thought you were here to see my project, she said.
He was not embarrassed, this pompous guy, Ted.
I am here to see if anything you are doing is worthwhile.
She did not give him any leeway, a joke or a smile.
This scientifically minded woman is all business.
She began drawing in the air, cyborgs appear through kismet.
The misogynist male was intimidated as a computer appeared.
He was out of his element and became a tiny bit afeared.

They got a dog and all was well
But the cat came after, straight from the bowels of
Well….
The dog had been generous with her time.
The cat took no prisoners.
Thought she was fine.
Cat put up her nose at their meager attempts to feed.
She was prissy and snarly and had a tad bit of greed.
They were intimidated by the cat who threw out the dog.
He ran to the woodshed and snuggled up with the hog.
She’s taken over the house, the husband complained to his wife.
You are just jealous, she said.
Get a life.

She was interested in learning a new word each day
So she opened the dictionary and began cruising through the pages
On every page she found less than two words she knew
There were millions of words she had never heard in her life.
How did I miss all of them? She asked herself.
She began to list them but they meant nothing without the meaning.
She has a new appreciation now for people who do know the language
It has made her kinder, and more empathetic to her E.L.L. students.
Never in her life has she felt so ignorant and hopeless.
It was the best way possible to develop a new perspective.
She slammed the dictionary shut, determined to not be overwhelmed.
But it did not work. She was intimidated, feeling small and uneducated.
You have two master degrees, her boss argued.
You must know some words.
She knew she did, however, at this second,
On this day, in this study, she could barely
Put a sentence together.

Poetic genius
Word prowess
Magnificent missive
Practice applause
Before the ending, I start thinking these things
Saturating them with hope and optimism
You can never top that one!
Best one you have ever created.
Your imagination is on fire.
Throw down the mike and set fire the piano!
The mirror laughs at my confidence.
Exciting and enticing.
Intelligent beyond limits.
You have surpassed yourself.
Your poetry is unprecedented.
My face hurts from grinning.
I take a little nap.
Too overwhelmed to write now.
Too intimidated to start.
The blank page laughs at me.
Third day in a row…

Sandra was enchanted and glamourous
Men were intimidated
Giddy when meeting her
Her winsome winning ways delighted them
None of the lot suspected
It was women she liked

Nonnative to me
Trying I yearn
In depth poetry
Meddling in your play
Incredible words you say
Deciphering pictures painted
Abiding by rules untainted
Timid to comment
Envious of your knowledge
Determined to comment with knowledge

Wandering amongst the darkness, my life was in jeopardy
A pack of stealthy ferocious wolves, were stalking me like cattle
Slitting my throat in fear, blood dripped in pools for the rabid canines
