Bike to ramp and from ramp to tree
In just a second you can feel the hit
Hanging midair is a time of glee
Adrenaline rush with teeth a’grit
Grasping his precious jewels
The tens unit clung
Crank that cruel switch to eleven so
His unborn kids will know he was stung
A blindfolded face, cigarette tastes,
Tighty-whities, and a Big Mac burger,
A boxing glove hits a fragile place
So he screamed that his meat was murdered
Hot sauce dares with a barren gut
The bottle beckons, its all for good fun
Capsaicin will rain hell upon his you know what
Chug the demon’s drizzle and the damage is done
Office chair races down a favorite hill
Speeding down through memory lane
On my way towards a hefty dentist bill but
Jackassery is always worth the pain
Rock fights in mud is a childish leisure
With a soundtrack of chuckles and thuds
Growing up simple and hollow is a pleasure
When your friends are a bundle of duds

It was old Woody that lured me with
Dust Bowl Ballads and so much more
Telling stories of a West
That I'd never heard before.
I was with the Okies as
They travelled down the road
Got a new hero from
The Ballad of Tom Joad.
Then on to Steinbeck
Faulkner, Williams, Hemingway,
Until dreams of America
Filled my teenage day.
The whole world exploded with
The advent of Rock 'n' Roll
And once again Americana
Captured my heart and soul.
I learned of Jimmie Rodgers
Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb,
All founder members in my
Exclusive Country Music Club.
Dylan, Van Zandt, Steve Earle,
Guy Clarke, and that's how I found
The huge variation in that loose
Genre, the Country Music sound.
It's been a part of my life
A very constant friend
Too late to change now and so
They'll be with me until the end.
I listened to those story tellers until
They influenced the way I write my verse
So it's my American Dreams
For better or for worse.

In youth I learned to jump
First off steps, then rooftops
Spirit of adventure
Nurtured in the heart of a child
Preschool acrobat twirling on my head
Grandma swatted my bottom
Repeated words like Tomboy
Never learned to be ladylike
Catholic school discipline
Uniforms, religion classes, daily mass
Never satisfied with any accomplishment
Even the nuns called me “perfectionist”
Blessed with storytellers in my family
Dad and sis would send me to dreamland
On the wings of a unicorn
Or Shakespeare’s amazing plays
Family and friends I hold dear
Each has influenced my thinking
I learned to offer support in troubled times
And to thank God every day for special people
Unable to have children
The most crushing blow
Accepted at a young age
But rued for a lifetime
Lover of Jack London, John Steinbeck
From Jack, I found adventure
From John, I learned compassion
Dickinson’s poetry touched my heart
If I can find a way
To make a friend feel joy
Then this is my mission
Comforter, nurturer

People and events come and go
Forever changing our lives
We all know this to be true
Influences show up
From out of nowhere
Some good, some bad
And some that didn’t seem
To make any difference at all
Whether a tragedy or celebration
We hold on to the hope
That whatever comes our way
Will take our weaknesses
And turn them into strengths
Through these strengths
Our dreams can be realized

There’s deep contemplation
in finding INSPIRATION,
there’s much meditation in
the joy of using my quill-
I’ve found that my sorrow
and pain in desperation,
has become my motivation
with a craving to fulfill.
In anguish I peak,
on my parchment, I must speak-
in torment I find my muse,
with many syllables to use.
I find my joy is oblique,
as my woe blows a fuse,
all my strength turns weak,
and in this journal of life…
I always lose.
Loss has come a dozen times,
so, I ease my pain in verses of rhymes-
goodbyes and many deaths,
I’m the victim in these crimes-
paths to final breaths,
have become my lonely pastimes.
All the yesterdays of sublime-
for I’m the Lady from Macbeth.
You may ask where my impulses lie,
I tell you they’re in the tears I cry-
my aspirations and dreams
may seem to soar high,
I’m bleeding at the seams,
and can’t figure out why.
When you think my soul gleams,
it’s really longing to die.
Sad influences and years of revelations,
have given me epiphanies of...
INSPIRATIONS.

Heavenly Influences
All the random acts one lives.
Are they what the universe gives?
Do they come from one’s heart beat?,
or do they come from the soul’s seat?
Does one’s life’s experiences come from the hands of fate?,
or are they reflections ?, refractions the psyche doth state?
Could karma be the force, the energy that guides one home?,
or is one’s life’s adventures, journeys to be spent alone.
Being the essence of a billion star’s dust,
light beams, sound waves undulating, we must
have, out of star dust come to be
everything we know, everything we see.
Out of the either, a zodiac sign,
is this who we be ?, what we find?,
what we truly are,
fragments of a star

Born in late '53 post Christmas
adopted was I being six weeks old
my new parents lived way out country
enjoyed these formative times like gold
Early on discovered I had stammer
but mother especially showed real care
made my little bedroom my cocoon
living out so free was myself there
We had little cairn terrier McGregor
he was real friendly to take a walk
couple of cats too Jinky and Smokey
slept bottom of bed heard any knock
Mum taught me great Bible stories
sewing the seed way back then
that in future years did bear fruit
always my fav reads loved to open
These years were so memorable
many happy times to look upon
without them where now would I be
don't know but still be Gordon

The pair couldn’t see beyond the present
Such hope, great expectations
Children, a home, great love
It was what they could not foresee that hurt

When she dresses in her full gown of white
And dances across the starlit sky at night
On sane men’s minds she will play a trick
And convert them into her lunatics.
Farmers will harvest when she abides
She influences oceans, moving their tides
Songs to her glory the wolves will howl
Sinister men, for her will prowl.
Young boys dream of visiting her in space
Mesmerized by her shinning face
Changes in a young girl’s body takes place
When Luna lights the sky with her full grace.
Luna lets you look her straight in the eye
Unlike the other god that graces the sky
But be aware of her influence over you
She can drive you mad and make you play the fool.

When the naif that whispers
deep passages of unheard words
into my ears, stop.
I am once more able
to hear my own thoughts.
How they drift.
And, begin to speak,
a collision of words.
Those that vibrate the
walls of my mind.
Recalling the confusion
of free thought. I have once
more submitted my being
and am lost. That within
my own thoughts.
