I'm invested in my destiny
I will not be denied
But in the event of failure
At least I can say I tried
Can you say the same for self?
Most people will lie
Consistence and persistence
Is the true test of time
The ingredients of manifestation
Are execution and intention
Will and determination
Coupled with tunnel vision
The simple equation for winning
Find out where you come up short
The inexperienced will feel failure
But it’s an inevitable necessity of sorts
We don’t start with the answers
But through trial and error
You’ll develop a system
That will take you there
So never give up
Nothing worthwhile comes easy
You won’t believe what you’ll obtain
From simply just believing
A deep pit with a crumbling edge.
Far below,
is a muddy pool swarming with crocodilians.
There is someone with me, a boy.
I shouldn't have taken the child here.
I am slipping, taking him with me,
he won't let go of my hand.
We are sliding on pebbly scree.
A gun drags at my hip,
its weight pulls us down
to where green-scaled
and armored reptiles
thrash in a melee.
One mindscape devolves into another.
I’m a visitor to strange
and as yet unmapped streets.
I've lost my parked car
somewhere between many unfamiliar
city blocks.
Home is a door in the back of my mind,
I suspect that behind it
is a child who knows the way back.
A small boy appears,
he is holding a tin wind-up crocodile,
one his dad once bought him.
At his side a long-barreled revolver,
the same type of weapon
I purchased in Florida
in the event of an alligator attack.
It is the ACT in the goal set that seals the deal
Nonetheless, many a goal are broadcasted abroad
In sheer exhilarations that fades like dusk
And at the mercy of drifting time left rot
A perfect semblance perhaps
Of seeds that by the wayside did fall
And starving fowls obviously did on them relish a meal
In the event of a year almost a farewell bidding
The goal had been stationed a beacon in the vast ocean
A compass for weary seafarers’ guide
Till safely are come ashore sure.
Long-range forecasts
predict outbreaks of pretty weather girls.
In the event of short-range predictions,
some ugly guy may be substituted.
In the case of an emergency,
mice may seek the sheltering wings
of owls and hawks.
By midnight, the total destruction
of garden gnomes is anticipated.
Survivors are asked to remain
in their bathtubs
until absolutely clean.
At the Charlie Norton School of Performing Arts
They only taught armoured acting parts.
They had a special maintenance man
Always kept busy with his little oil can
Keeping the suits free of fleas
And all the joints moving with ease,
Especially the cunningly concealed vent
For the disposal of excrement
And the removal of noxious gasses
Which even the refined on occasion passes.
Trying to learn lines could be hell
When surrounded by your own trapped smell.
In the event of a dearth of suitable parts
They taught other non performing arts
Like sweeping leaves away from drains
In the event of torrential rains.
As this part of the course was free
It didn’t carry its own degree
But for the elite chosen few
It could be a unit of your NVQ.
The Charlie Norton School of Performing Arts
Gives your career a powered kick start
A VW Beetle
An unloaded thirty eight
In the passenger seat
And out through the gate
A briefcase of secrets
Chained to the wrist
Memorized instructions
From an unwritten list.
In the event of an ambush
Just pop five rounds in:
The only trouble was
They were sealed in a tin.
We weren't even sure
The rounds were live anymore
The tin was dated
Nineteen Fourty Four
These were the days
Before mobile phone
Just the courier and driver
Out on their own.
I suppose in a way
It was a bit of fun
Time out of the office
When you did the Courier Run
It never happened of course.
And we delivered to the Yanks
Who took our case
Without any thanks.
They treated us
With such disrespect
You’d think they’d decided
They’d be fighting us next.”
Briefcase of new secrets
Chained to the wrist,
Memorised directions
From that unwritten list.
A VW Beetle,
Unloaded Thirty eight
In the passenger seat
And back out of the gate.
In the event that I forget what this poem is about
I refer you now to the birds outside my window,
they are singing but the song is silent.
I should have titled this poem ‘Windows’
but then the silence and the birds got my attention.
Days before father died in the Hospice
he would gaze out of the same window.
On the other side of that silent window
horses grazed in a paddock – nothing special.
We both would sit facing that expanse of glass,
I wondering what to say next,
he nodding and smiling at the horses,
the green cropped grass - the occasional birds.
Not a sound did all make
but father was listening
as only those close to the center can hear.
I believe the words end now.
In the event of my losing my hearing in the ensuing quietus
please look away.
When an Amish village in Iowa once burnt down
Their brethren in Pennsylvania gathered round
They decided at once to put their own lives on hold
To their dear brothers' aid in horse-drawn wagons they rolled
You can imagine the delight on the Iowans' faces
When they heard the clop-clop of those horses' paces
Quickly they prepared a hearty meal for their guests
Then went to work together -- This was no time to rest
They rebuilt that village, house by house and barn by barn
You have my word: This story is true; it's no idle yarn
In just three short weeks, the whole job was done
So, the guests packed up their wagons and rode back home
In the event of a catastrophe like a flood or a fire
Insurance is something Amish do not require
For they live by an adage we'd be wise to remember
'I am my brother's keeper,' now and forever
In the event that I forget
what this poem is about
I refer you now to the birds
outside my window.
They are silent – it is a sound-proof window,
but I want to speak of windows more.
I should have titled this poem ‘Window’
but then the silence and the birds got my attention.
What is a poem - rhetorical unanswerable question,
yet perhaps they are a silent window,
the words being birds only the eyes
and the heart can hear. Well they could be.
Before he died in the Hospice
my father would gaze out of the same window
everyday.
On the other side of that silent window
horses grazed in a paddock – nothing special.
We both would sit facing that expanse of glass,
I wondering what to say next,
He nodding and smiling at the horses,
the green cropped grass - the occasional birds.
Not a sound did they all make
but father was listening and seeing
what only those close to the center
of silence can see.
I believe the words end here.
In the event of my losing my place
In the ensuing quietus
please look away.
I looked at my pantry,
then I glanced at theirs.
In the event of an emergency,
their pantry was more prepared.
They would still have enough food to last them a full year's time,
after I had exhausted all of mine.
My pantry would be empty long before the pantry of my felines.
A stone is sitting in solitude underwater while others play
Solitude is gainful, a finding of one’s inner qualities
Those qualities surface that may have been unclaimed
It is then that the integral source of contentment will exceed
beyond defeat or discouragement and surface in the darkest of times .
The stone will watch while others play
but when it becomes dark the stone will prevail.
That stone has a fortress of amour in the event of adversities
to which it can become steadfast and not be disturbed by encounters.
the water will roll over the stone while others will wash away.
A deep pit, a crumbling edge,
at the bottom, a pool swarming with sauropods.
There is someone, a boy.
I shouldn't have taken the child here.
I'm slipping, taking him with me;
he won't let go of my hand.
We are sliding on the scree.
A gun heavy on my hip,
its weight drags us down,
to where saw-toothed muggers
thrash in a melee.
It's then that I transition.
I’m a visitor, two-dimensional
in a hurrying cityscape.
I've lost my car
in one of many similar concrete blocks.
Home is a door in the back of my mind
A door not opened yet, I suspect behind it
is a child who knows his way back.
He’s holding a tin wind-up crocodile,
one his dad once bought him.
At his side a revolver,
the same type I purchased
in Florida
in the event of alligator attack.
Dedicated to those curious
In the event of my demise
When my heart can beat no more
I Hope I Die For A Principle
or a belief that i had lived for
I Will Die Before My Time
Because i feel the Shadow's Death
So much i wanted to accomplish before i reached my death
I have come to grips with the possibility
and wiped the last tear from my eyes
I loved all who were positive in the event of my Demise.
The Sahara Desert has enough sand to provide concrete housing for Everyone,
the poor, the middle class, the rich and elite of the entire planet's population,
with sand leftover, providing housing in the event of a population explosion.
Concrete housing would eliminate deforestation tremendously,
If housing were an automatic for everybody globally,
an enormous mental toll would be relieved from everybody,
and this Free Housing could be provided globally,
within our lifetime literally,
in a global Resource Based Economy.
I for one would love to free myself totally from the bondage of money.
