Nuclear in Norway
Should the Russian army occupy Northerner Norway, they know the way
Last time they came and helped chase the Nazi army out and freed us was in 1945
Russia was popular after the war, Stalin was called Uncle Joe
This scared the USA it quickly sent the Marshal aid
there was a geo-political shift despite open borders
Relentless propaganda made Russians into monsters, but despite this, the borders were kept open
Norway is now embraced in the arms of the US/NATO yes it is the same thing they have 17 bases mostly up North
but has few troops to speak of, should the Russki come
there will be no help from Sweden, is not attacked
and declare neutrality as they did in the Nazi war
The North of Norway is within the Arctic Circle and thanks to the golf current, has ice-free harbors, the best of all the North- pole is only a stone's throw away from the pole
of political interest for bigger nations
What will the US do if they can't shift the occupiers of a rich little country, full of oil and minerals?
Will Norway become the first nation nuked since
Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan

Spring starts the drip, drip, drip of icicles,
as longer days of sunshine warm the air.
And folks switching from cars to bicycles,
when the weather turns from freezing to fair.
Tulips, daffodils, and crocus bulbs sprout;
regaling gardens with colorful inks.
And as life's resurrected, all about;
Spring's awash in a sea of blues and pinks.
The returning songbirds start tweeting tunes;
to shorten the length of Winter's harsh rule.
And thawing lakes echo the calls of lunes
as ice-free waters turn from cold to cool.
Red, yellow, violet, purple, and gold;
define Spring's Palette as subtle and bold.

O wintery flake, you’ve not kept me warm.
Your passion promised to never alarm.
Outside, I’m not sold.
My briefs rather cold.
In my frozen breast, swaths of ice free-form.

Backwards poem Read left to right
Reverse right to left.
no
regrets,
face sad
my future
without you,
reality,
facing myself,
living start again,
walk must I alone,
fast flowing tears
so river like,
melting is
heart of ice
free and
alone
now
re-written 09/8/2016

It started with the usual
crows, grackles, starlings,
even the chickadees
were appropriately capped.
Broken up a bit by
a red winged blackbird
and again by cardinal.
But in the woods,
early Mourning Cloaks flitted
while a turkey vulture
circled overhead.
Our black dog plunged
into the ice free pond
but the tawny only dabbled,
then both soaked
the bottom of my jeans.
On a nearby clothesline
a little black dress flapped,
as winter’s hair was shorn
from newly silky legs.

Lately, the weather has dropped drastically,
and Fall holds up serenely and beautifully;
green trees so stately gently fluctuate
against a sky of transparent blue as hummingbirds make plans to migrate,
but the downy woodpeckers interrupt their chat
with their unbearable drumming that disturbs their peace with intent.
Summer in New York State has been humid and stormy,
temperatures rose above a hundred degrees as pavements smoked,
sprinklers in streets made children happy as they were being soaked...
so very thankful to live in a rich country offering such a commodity;
adversely, a water shortage caused drought in the South allowing tragedy
as gasoline and food prices soared and spouses couldn't pay alimony.
Hot summers predict cold winters, and we await a harsh winter...
stock up on shovels and salt, keep your driveway and sidewalk snow-and-ice-free;
will you get help from your kids when snow falls...having you think of electric bills?
No, let them play and have fun...their blood is hot and they feel no chills!
And should you think of joining them, drop your shovel as if stung by a bee!
Which other way is there to endure the wintry weather living as an Alaska bear?
