Spill the tea, tipped up spout, stirred
Friction mixes fiction into fructose
Whispers pull expectant ears close
Muffled message can barely be heard
Listen where truth and lies intertwine
Hot off the press, a hopscotch
Pebble thrown, trending watch
Manoeuvred over as squares 3- 6- 9
Folded inside last week’s newspaper
Transfer blur, ink bleed injury
Tear away band-aid gingerly
Atrocities reduced to peculiar caper
Shrine to memory melts fact, flimsy
Shadows spread black plague
Smokey mirror, images vague
Cloak and dagger funhouse whimsy
Pressed for truth, tea bags shrivel
Leaking last drips of drunk dribble

Did you hear the latest dear
Gooey gossip hot off the press
Like a cold beer for your ear
But hold what you know close to vest
I hear that man is really a ma’am
Or it may be it is vise versa
The sports team is in a sham
No one willing to silver serve her
Well I’m told there’s no hope
For the pervert posing professor
He pretends to hold heart of gold
Till he caught red handed confessor
Well I hear another teal tale
Seems the woman lies to her mate
Aftermath is the dad bales
For she has lied about the father’s babe
What say you about the pew
Going to bust hell wide open
Of the few like me like you
Who gossip with tongues so golden
I say that if it is a fact
One can surely surrender to share
For no one is perfect as glass
Life is but a truth or dare
We share a truth and slanted news
Not always seeing the error of ways
Until the news is about you
Enjoy the gooey gossip of the day
Packaged and sent to Robert Gorelick’s
Made him a Doggy Book Of Limericks
That had me roaring-unique
Some were cute and very chic
A twisty phrase he pulls-off, are his tricks
A postcard; his picture, a return address
Newly printed and hot off the press
It brought us closer, poet pals
Good deeds, I thanked God at St. Mel’s
He said it was nice, he was very impressed
His looks shout out Mister California
Ladies and gentlemen let me warnya
Dusty rugged devil so fine
He has aged like a fine French wine
Copy, print, and bind, a great idea
Robert takes his book wherever he goes
Bragging and boasting to all friends and foes
I’m submitting his chap book
I'll find an agent to hook
Dreams come true, fairy tales and rainbows
For the majority of the vast
I have been saving the best for last
His genius; sparkling and clever
He’s back, as witty as ever
Takes requests and voilà writes it fast
Maybe doggy limericks are his shtick
Short stories sensitive and romantic
But wait, a beautiful quatrain
Will please you every now and then
So let’s hear it for Robert Gorelick!

Contemporary Sonnet
Hot off the press, 'tis a rhyme of some kind,
a form that's advanced hundreds of years old,
hearts made it all the rage as love entwined,
game-changing for the muted, words of gold.
In full swing appearance stretches statements,
staunch vowels-consonants chime wondrously,
the construction on stanzas spreads segments,
three quatrains plus, distinct couplet, smoothly.
Completely concerned engaging rhyme scheme,
three mayhaps four amidst Milton scores whole,
though, moreover, there's Hopkins curtal theme,
although this well-known method leads the poll.
Functioning nameless skilled to be renowned,
Supporting heart and soul get off the ground.

Trump was playing with Betty Boop
When suddenly he had to poop
- Coronavirus scare -
No toilet paper there!
But FOX News picked up an hot scoop!
“Hot off the press!” “Climbing to Number One!”
Believing that to a higher knowledge we may come,
we feed on and drink in the enticing words,
but In deception we will remain obscured.
With what do we fill our minds with that should not be?
How will we know what we must flee
if we do not stay on the path of studying Truth,
or question and think everything through?
When there is no time to study the living Word,
to a short-cut we turn and then are lured
to feed on things that we do not know,
and drink from a poisonous bowl.
Drink from the Fountain of living water!
Eat of the Manna that comes from above!
Pray our hearts will yearn for Truth Divine,
and for the living Word to guard our minds!
It is still the same as it was before.
Students have to buy books for class at the bookstore.
It’s great to buy new books that are hot off the press.
However, the cost of new books can cause financial distress.
Many students are in a bad position,
especially after they have paid their tuition.
Everybody knows about the rising costs at college.
It is expensive to acquire the traditional advanced knowledge.
So what can they do before they go through the door?
It is cheaper to buy books that have been used before.
Stressed?
Another story hot off the press
Should you want to lower stress
Johns Hopskins research found a link
That somehow soon may raise a stink
Hydrogen Sulfide found in flatus
Appears to have a healthful status
A blood enzyme it will produce
Blood pressure then it will reduce
If you’re upset – blood pressure rising
Here’s a hint that’s quite surprising
Eat some beans, build up that gas
Your high blood pressure soon will pass
Then just relax, lift up a cheek
Let that hydrogen sulfide speak
And then if someone should complain
It’s for your health you’ll just explain
Picture now a stressful meeting
Beans and lettuce they’ll be eating
And when the stressful meeting’s done
Excuse yourself and quickly run
For if you find yourself inside
You’ll get a whiff of H. Sulfide
But you’ll know stress has been relieved
If Johns Hopskins research you believed

The sound of the presses
While they run at high speed
The reporters and editor
Trying to fill a town's need
The feel of fresh newsprint
And the smell of the ink
Working on broken machinery
Sometimes old and extinct
Trying to meet deadlines
Proofreading as i go
A fast-paced stressful job
But it's work i love so
To see the newspaper
As it comes hot off the press
Taking pride in my printing
For in so many homes it will rest
To leave at days end
And feel pride in my chest
Now the town's got their news
I can go home, get some rest.
