His touch was like a spark to my dead battery
which was funny
because he hurt me silly
and showed me what "Battery" was.
Having seen it as a child, thinking
"ma's really weak, but I still love Daddy, maybe
ma has to stop being so weak"
And after I experienced the same
my oppinion didn't change.
The excitement has been building over the past year.
But it’s finally here; our holiday to Florida and everyone is bursting!
We leave a note to my dad, it says;
Dear dad,
Please can you leave the landing light on at night
and don’t forget to close the curtains. Feed the cat and its best
to leave the doors open ajar in case he gets shut in one of the rooms
and needs the loo!
Thanks so much for having the dog for 3 weeks too.
Love ya dad ***
Nearly nine hours on the plane, I think the toilet will always scare me a bit
as I’m afraid it may suck me up into it!
Lazing in our villa and by the pool in the Orange County sun
is overwhelmingly enjoyable for all; the five of us having family fun.
Too much to squeeze in, 3 weeks isn’t long enough.
Full to the brim with Disney parks galore.
The incredible wild life, oh and the armadillo by the road!
I even lost weight with all that walking we did!
All you can eat, a real treat. Plus cinnamon doughnuts – yum!
It had to come to an end. The heat, the sand and the sun.
The photos I took were great,
Wonderful memories to hold on to forever.
For contest 'its time for a vacation'
Last year I put myself on a budget
Nothing I'd buy that I didn't need
Till the time came I started to fudge it
All the warning signs I didn't heed
Far from a shopaholic I am
But I'll admit I do like to spend
Pretending I didn't would just be a sham
Got a few bucks you might like to lend?
Music cd's send me all awhirl
Kitchen gadgets my weakness too
Lovin' those shoes like a regular girl
Oh but this year I'm thinkin' it through
Better reel it in and tighten those reins
Wishin' that money grew on trees
Being cheap to myself is givin' me pains
Not shopping brings me to my knees!

Age 5
As a child I awoke from my slumber
I arose from the couch to grab a cucumber
Santa was eating my cookies.
Like a baseball rookie.
I threw the cucumber and Santa fell like lumber!
Age 6
Santa returned the following year.
No presents for me was my biggest fear.
I hid behind the couch.
I heard Santa say "ouch."
He slipped on my marbles and fell on his rear!
Age 7
The following Christmas was a surprise to me.
I fell asleep curled up under the tree
Santa woke me with a smile
He said, "It's been awhile."
Then dumped Rudolph's dung on me!
Bah! Humbug! 'Tis again that time of the year,
When I must go hither and yon spreading good cheer.
Ho, ho, hoing as wriggling brats sit upon my knees,
Boring me with their interminable pleas!
I try to animate the beast with the shiny red nose.
The other cantankerous brutes won't rally 'til he goes.
This year, please clear the snow off your roofs!
If one breaks a leg I have no spare hoofs!
How about leashing your beloved family mutt!
Frankly, I'm weary of being nipped on the butt!
And I'm getting sick of your crummy cookies and milk.
How about some salami and cheese or something of that ilk!
I've really suffered a most ruinous year.
Mrs. Claus and those pesky elves formed a union up here,
Working less hours and demanding more pay!
I doubt I'll have enough toys to fill the sleigh!
If I sound somewhat like I have the grumps,
I've just been feeling down in the dumps.
Folks, I need your help to make me merry.
This whole Christmas thing I alone cannot carry!

I stopped at the bar and tossed down a few beers.
Started looking around and saw eight dancing reindeers.
Santa walked in and said"hey darlin pour me one".
Me and the reindeers will leave when they are done.
Santa racked up the pool balls and asked me to play.
He said one more game and I'll fire up the sleigh.
The red nose reindeer was singing a song.
Santa's sleigh bells were ringing right a long.
Santa told the barmaid to come over here.
He said fill me a glass of holiday cheer.
Santa gave her a kiss under the mistletoe.
He said until next year HO-HO-HO.

I don't drain my bank account each and every Christmas
Only the ones who are close to me are on my short list
I get bombarded by Christmas adds day and night
There's buy this and buy that for a twelfth of my life
Is that the same woman that cut me off in the parking lot?
I had to park at Taco Bell, it made for quite a walk
I gave her a glance as she hurried along three kids
She was telling them to behave or they wouldn't get gifts
I caught them at the door and said "Merry Christmas"
She returned an evil stare and replied "Ya, is it?"
I watched her put them in the Santa Clause line
She bolted towards Macy's, as she shouted "quit whining"
Come to me by moonlight on All Hallow's Eve
rise up from the grave and let your spirit raise
coat me with frost breath, sing to me your boos
I am hungry for the past days of scariness and fools.
Come to me at the graveyard, soar above the marble
whisper to me of your life and loves, don't wait
for your proper turn, don't lie lonesome beneath dirt.
There's an ear for every sorrow and a promise of corn
if on All Hallow's Eve you find your way to my side.
There we'll drink spiced wine and toast past days
when bodies were a hindrance and our emotions raged
we'll wonder about starlight and planet scapes
and talk to three a.m, if you come to me at midnight
and touch my spirit to yours. The clock will tick as count
the oaks will zither a tune, the lowing cows and rats
rustle will speak of night's safety and an alternate way.
Tell me of your curtains, the end of your way of life,
tell me of your children, the last of your family line,
tell me of your lover's kiss, the last treasure you held
before you wandered free of the earth's reach
every all Hallow's Eve, every chance you were freed
and if you are lonesome or traveling a new domain.
As the fog rolled in it sighed a relief
As the color of sin is the same as belief
I looked in the glass of the old horror show
And staring back at me was a man I didn't know
He smiled and said my don't you look grand
Believe in yourself go ahead take my hand
I curled my toes and flew head first
Into this glass of truth and birth
The jagged edges cut me so
I bled the truth and now we know
This man that stared at me so kind
Was really the trick not the treat of my mind
I watched my past soak unto the spell
Of nightly tricks and treats from hell
We looked the same both him and I
We danced the blame of each others good lie
And now we both are ready to die
As the Halloween of death came near my eyes
My doorbell rings and what do I see?
Ghosts and witches grinning at me
Kids of every shape and size
With painted faces and sparkling eyes
There in the glow of a pale street light
Ghouls and goblins are owning the night
But then I notice way off to the side
A lonely clown as he tries to hide
From the other kids in the neighbor's yard
I don't mean to stare but it's very hard
This little guy looks so lost and alone
Like a night of fun he's never been shown
I call to him,he comes to my side
I say "little one there's no need to hide
You look so sweet in your clown costume
Mommy dressed you up I assume?"
He started to cry and said to me
"My mom has gone to heaven you see
Daddy dressed me the best he knew how
Then dropped me off-that's why I'm here now"
So I said "Well you're the best ever clown"
With that he started to lose his frown
I filled his bag with treats and candy
Threw in some pennies that I had handy
He grinned and left to meet his dad
I thought of how he'd been so sad
Hoping I had brightened his night
I closed the door and shut off the light
One rainy season of my life
I took a trip to Hawaii where
The Maui Isle awaited me
For two long weeks, without a care.
The beach called to me with its sand
So clean and white and warm as toast.
I filled my lungs with ocean air,
Inhaling to my innermost.
My room was eleven stories high,
I could see the ocean all unfurled.
Suspended between the earth and sky
I was insulated from the world.
No fog or smog was shielding me
From beauty of the bright blue sky.
The January sun came shining through
With warmth it borrowed from July.
I felt a peace I'd never known.
I loved the island's relaxed way.
The natives set an easy pace.
Tomorrow is another day.
The flowers with their sweet perfume,
Were like no flowers I'd seen before.
I stored them in my memory vault,
To keep them with me evermore.
When each day's sky is full of clouds
And all of time is dullest grey,
My mind will wander back to where
Summer's just one airplane ride away.

The lily holiday
The holidays have to pass so fast
That reminds me fast of the past
The holiday of Easter is in the air
I can’t remember the last, it is rare
But now you think it’s only a holiday
But it’s more to me because my family
They love me so much and I feel the care
They always give me love in a teddy bear
Take your time to smell the air
Because you know Easter is very rare
Spend time with your family
It all starts with a lily.
A Valentine Poem, from me to you
I have no gift,so I hope this will do
My love is special and very true
With my words,I'll express it to you
All I can offer, is my heart
Your the love of my life, and a 10 on my chart
You make me happy, all day long
Your love helps me believe and keeps me strong
As my Valentine, you are my dove
Now kiss me, and lets make love
Shirley Willson
Will you be my Valentine
whoever you may be?
Give me just a little time
so I can sleep in peace?
Maybe tell me that you love me
and that I'm your one and only.?
The only one you'll ever
need so I won't be so lonely.
Will you be my Valentine
whoever you may be?
Will you be my Valentine
for all the world to see?
You would not have to buy me gifts.
I don't even need a card.
Just a promise if we drift apart
you won't rip out my heart.
Will you be my Valentine
whoever you may be?
I don't believe that it's a crime
wanting someone to want me.
