High Flyer Poems | Examples

Ubiquitous Mallards

Bottoms up
in the brook a-babbling
topside down
ducks a-dabbling
wings in webbed feet
a-scrabbling
omnivorously grazing
on the dunk
beneath the water
for insects sunk
yet in the U.S.A.
above below but not abaft
they rank 7th most-hazardous bird
to commercial and military aircraft
and as a high-flyer at least one duck
was struck and it's hard to beat
at a cruising altitude
of 21,000 feet

Premium Member If You See Harvey

Have you met Harvey, the Himalayan bar-headed goose?
He was around here yesterday, fancy-free, on the loose
he is a high flyer like the African griffon bird
Can zoom straight up for hours, on my word

They both can glide to a summit peak of a mountain top
maybe past cirrus clouds, for they do not stop
if you see him, please let me know
we have a telegram for him down below

Let Mind Breathe

The mind is a high flyer.
An altitude of any measure
allows it to breathe clearer.
The mind breathes you.

Close out this world
follow the song-cycles
of your land-locked
wind-blown lungs.

Let that singing soar,
let go of all tethers
ride that lighter than air wind
up, up, up.

Hold on to nothing
gravity has no asway upon you,
you can rise forever
dance over any gleaming universe.

Enter that 'cloud of unknowing'
that birthed you; deliver yourself
from all dust of thought

until joy and laugher
boosts you
into that radiant immensity
of inner space, there you arise
as a star that knows no roof, ceiling
nor end.

Premium Member The High Horse

Why don't you get down from your high horse?
It may bring you down to Earth,
Because you are sitting up so high
It doesn't show your worth,
You may have a different view
Sitting high up there
But there are others beneath you
Who needs some love and care?

If you are sitting up so high,
It's easy to lose sight.
Out of sight of mind
Oblivious of the plight,
Of others and their kin
You discard them,
As quickly as throwing rubbish into a bin.
Every dog has its day,

That's how the saying goes.
Get down from that high horse,
And feel the Earth between your toes
Plant your feet firmly on the ground
It gives you a sense of balance
And help justice to abound.
If you want to rise even higher
You will always need a taller horse.
You will become a high flyer
And disappear off course.

Satan Is a Very Good Liar

Soon, a penniless buyer,
Who’d dreamt of being a high flyer,
His bowel, a deflated tire,
And, thus, an embittered crier ….
Not willing anymore to climb higher;
Bosses would their workers fire,
After a couple of weeks’ hire!

Will he be hiring a smart lawyer?
But he can’t pay Barrister Moore Sawyer!
Of seven children did he sire,
Now, praised procreation does him tire!
Will he be going for the ropes or plain wire?
Then, Satan is a very good liar!

Noonday dreamer weaves a blue ray visual
Sight and sound young orb amid the lunar tides
Silver trophy field of play renaissance type
mesmerising global village new wave hordes
magnum opus prodigy a limelight sponge
boy wonder figment, high-flyer on cloud nine
classroom bell transport me back to earth

Premium Member Don'T Let Your Pitter Patter

I once met a Spanish high flyer
She wiggled and danced on a wire
Her pitter once pattered
Grew ninety pounds fatter
And now she sings bass in a choir.

Miss Stormy Daniels, that's not her real name
An alias she uses for the adult stuff game
She once had an affair with a high flyer
This was denied and they called her a liar.

High Flyer

by Wayne Wysocki

The man on the flying trapeze,
Who loved eating chili and cheese,
     Could travel much higher
     Than anyone prior
With help from a flatulent breeze.

When I was a lad of eleven
I saw a tornado in the heavens;
A unique event in our vale
Leaving destruction in its trail-
Cattle & sheds flying without a sail!

Eternal Lullaby

Sleep, baby now rest
Don't you know? To me your the best.
Close your eyes until tomorrow
Although you know the morning may bring you sorrow.

Peace child, don't you know?
You bring happiness in this world filled with foe.
It's not your fault people don't understand,
But I'll stand by you; I'll hold your hand

Ssh young heart, don't you cry,
Here, wipe that tear from your eye.
You must be scared, we all are
But you have the strength to be a shining star.

Believe, young dreamer
Follow your dreams but be a believer.
It's not the weight of the world that holds you down,
It's the weight on your forhead, your heavy frown.

Patience high flyer, it takes time,
But like a fanfare the bells will chime.

You are never alone
I am always here
A silent whisper
'Have no fear'

Sleep, now rest
Through time you've become the best.
Close your eyes, and trust in me.
We will be together for eternity.
