every act of love
is like a little death to me...
each time a piece of me is lost
to become more attentive…
I feel bound to the heavy ground
yet free as a bird
just to take flight on the wings
of selfless Desire...
At birth I enter the cell
Heaven and Hell
Here on Earth, it’s hard to tell
Heaven and Hell
The reading from the Holy Pell
Heaven and Hell
A highway or a stairwell
Heaven and Hell
Milton and Dante, do tell
Heaven and Hell
Screwtape’s nephew learns well
Heaven and Hell
A king and the witch’s spell
Heaven and Hell
Emotions a hurricane swell
Heaven and Hell
A voice left in quell
Heaven and Hell
Watch out for Luther’s inkwell
Heaven and Hell
Past the shadow and death’s dell
Heaven and Hell
The bell’s knell
Heaven and Hell
The 13th pealing as well
Heaven and Hell
Resolution:
Covered by a pall
And that’s all
A death and pangs on Earth
And then eternal birth
The darkened clouds o’erhead obscure the light;
the nausea in waves devours all joy.
She whimpers as she fades within my sight;
against this foe I am a helpless boy.
Deep in my heart I know she gains the day,
For You on her behalf have long since won.
But still it wounds to see the potter’s clay
misshapen so, both she and I undone.
Beyond the rise, her vale does softly call
So verdant green, so marvelous its light.
Not long, my dear, held cruel in cancer’s thrall
Soon, soon, my love, you’ll have no need to fight.
What lies ahead would fill me with despair
were I not sure she’s nestled in Your care.
perfect sublime peace
forever with the divine . . .
moms love unbroken
I know that death brings decay to a human but I believe that the soul remains for awhile on
earth. I felt it when my dad passed, I felt his presence with me, even now often I feel his hand
upon my hair. The same with my mom and grandma, I feel them close. And my husband well
he visits me in dreams and whispers. I want to believe the fantasy of Heaven and that all my
beloved are waiting for me there. Even though I know they are but earthly dust.
to dust we return
we complete our life circle . . .
to heavenly peace

Doctors had given up hope
Prayer saved the day
From Heaven being the way
The Lord himself
Clear and simple
No question about it
Thee himself
Doctors were misinformed
Thinking their own understanding
Life sustained
Fulfilling future that remained
Passing storm
Fruitful life.
Death, the dutiful dismal doorman waits,
Depressed, opening each eternal gate,
Kneeling right, glowering at Heaven’s Gate;
Bowing left, grinning wide at Devil’s Gate.
With all souls passed through their eternal gate
Death drags Hades, gate left and immolates.
Having hope in the promise
Every believer in God holds close
Anything can happen but God is in control
Victory over sin and death
Everlasting joy and peace
Never feeling pain again
Mother hears a choir singing,
or so she tells us from her hospice bed,
she also hears the church bells ringing
to mark the trailhead ~
farther on the path she knows leads home.
She is content with the life she’s known,
with few regrets she packs her bags to move
to her celestial home built so long ago,
Mother says the angels reassure her there is nothing left to prove,
come greet your friends and family in heavenly tableau.
The fabric of space-time and the Cosmos,
remembers everything we do and say,
it is the way of the Son, the Logos,
whose aura shines like the light of many days.
What happens in a lifetime never dies,
as words and deeds forever are written down,
like inscribed monuments that stir the wise,
to noble acts of grandeur and renown.
But if this song be misleadingly false,
this bard will move heaven and earth to prove,
that the Creator dances only a true waltz
of physics that time can't erase or remove.
Though life and death demand a heavy cost,
the Universe recycles so none are lost.
Death
appeared with a phone call
from a neighbor~
a beautiful story ending
with painful blessings
gracing this news~~

Never
the same
happening never
before or again~
continuity builds a
narrative as a
happening which
is gone already~~
Paradox
a gift to the seeker
inviting resonance
with an impossibility~~
In Heaven, she has joy indescribable by words,
Surrounded by her husband and loved ones,
As well as her favourite kinds of birds
Bathing in a fountain which always runs.
Red cardinals flying gracefully everywhere,
Scarlet feathers falling onto her hair.
Her soul freely frolicking without care.
Trinkets in her home mean she's also there.
In her eternal awareness, she'll still observe
All the ways in which her family shall serve,
She'll be there for each of them at every curve.
She'll ask God to give what they most deserve.
Red cardinals placed everywhere in her home,
Reminding family she's both there and here.
In Heaven, she completes reading her tome.
She now knows she lived a life she held dear.
How curiously this love does still stream
In this grand museum of endless dreams
If language limitless with countless graphemes
There's no vocabulary that I can deem
Rich enough to express or so it seems
The infinitude of loving beseems
I collect your miracles so supreme
Still a curiosity remains a theme
Of God's love, your love passed seriatim
(“Beyond the Door”, 2023, original encaustic)
I imagine the book of life
Is written in clear distinct font
While the book of death
Is indistinct, written in smeared scribbles
About people whose lives were equally ambiguous.
Heaven thus is without a doubt
While Hell is the place
With room for all the rest.

I would take you, my love, far, far from this world,
into a universe where even the night does not sleep,
for tonight I will invent a spaceship for the days in death
where I will hide all the dreams we had while living on Earth.
When we stroll among the stars and through the galaxies
that ask for a small payment for a beginning we never had,
I would show you, from afar, the sun that is immortal,
and I would lay at your feet a carpet made of purely dark.
There, where the stars dance their waltz of the first birth,
and the moon gazes silently at the dance hall of the cosmos,
while asteroids paint on her body with the dark hues of the universe,
will be the home of our love, for our souls will be in love forever.
Moment in time
Urgency response
Hour glass expiration
Soulful rise
Not physical rise of one’s own
Death Angel guest
Heaven’s request
Limp body still
Eyes fully closed
Preparation Descend
Target being the Pearly Gates
Imagined all my life
The Place, City and Ever After
Tomorrow came quick
No resist to stick
Choice to go
No more sickness nor pain
No worries
Leaving Earth of hateful thoughts and being an uncaring world
Day of a new day
The Roam
Above all
The call
Lord full finish
New home
Journey worthwhile
