HONORABLE MENTION

In the Catholic faith that I was brought up in, we believe that death is re-birth, and it comes
to all. In Genesis 3:19 it reads, "from dust you came and to dust you will return." Death brings
equality to all humans. I think it symbolizes human mortality, and fragility. A common prayer
at burials is, "Earth to Earth, Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust,  My own spiritual reflection is that
this is the temporary nature of life. The complete circle of human existence, from birth to death.
I wonder, does my beloved mother hear me, and watch over me from Heaven . . .

To Dust

perfect sublime peace forever with the divine . . . moms love unbroken
I know that death brings decay to a human but I believe that the soul remains for awhile on earth. I felt it when my dad passed, I felt his presence with me, even now often I feel his hand upon my hair. The same with my mom and grandma, I feel them close. And my husband well he visits me in dreams and whispers. I want to believe the fantasy of Heaven and that all my beloved are waiting for me there. Even though I know they are but earthly dust.
to dust we return we complete our life circle . . . to heavenly peace
