Premium Member Old Glory

She stands proud,
On mountain trail,
All tattered and torn.

Her stars holding fast
To the cloth she wears.
The Fifty stars she bears

Her strips bleeding
The pain of summer’s end.
She must transcend.

She’s graced these snow-crowned peaks,
With Hardiness and Valor,
Courage and Sacrifice.

She’s Reigned over these mountain vales,
With Justice and Vigilance,
Strength and Perseverance.

She’s blessed those who’ve traveled by
With her Innocence and Truth,
Purity and Love.

She’s stood her many trials.
Though tattered and torn,
With Pride and Dignity.

Like an eagle, she flies
Over this great land
And galaxies far.

She blesses the springtime beauty,
The summer’s green,
The aspen, when they shed,
The snow when it falls.

There is much to honor
In this old flag of ours,
And the unity it personifies.

Tis nothing less,
Than Old Glory,
In all her Glory.

The Cockroach and the Honeybee

The honeybee; the maid of flowers:
Selflessly she toils for hours,
filling up her pollen stores---
never grumbling at her chores.

Sips of nectar keep her strong
as she labors all day long,
pollinating field and arbor,
and making honey in her larder.

Humble as her kind may be,
their loss would be a tragedy.
The earth would shed a mournful tear,
were honeybees to disappear.

The cockroach is a great success,
a paragon of hardiness.
It serves no queen and tends no hive;
its sole concern is to survive.

And this it does---to our chagrin:
Wherever we home, it settles in---
to feed and breed at our expense,
exploiting without recompense.

A champion at adaptation,
it garners no appreciation:
Were cockroaches eradicated,
their absence would be celebrated.

Two species doing what they do best:
The one a friend, the other a pest;
one a blessing, one a blight:
Worker by day or scourge by night.
According to its occupation,
each kind has earned its reputation.

Consider, now, society:
Are you a cockroach, or a bee?

A Flag Is Flying

From my desk at work I can see, outside there are trees and a flag that is flying for all to see.
Do they understand; will they ever truly know what makes that flag so grand?
It was an ideal placed in the heart of men; of virtue, love, and faith- to lead us to the future and remind us of where we have been.
Red is for hardiness and valor; the blood of men and women who, for a belief, died with bravery.
White is for purity and innocence- the protection of those who wish to be free from tyranny’s vengeance.
Blue is for vigilance, perseverance, and justice- Taking a stand for our country and fellow man no matter the cost.
The stars represent the heavens- the splendor and majesty of God, and his love for all mankind- his greatest creation.
From my desk at work I can see, outside there are trees and a flag that is flying for all the world to see.

Brief:The Purple Robe

In the cool spring breeze
The purple robe dances free
While busy bees play
Your sweet scent filling the air
And my heart with every sway

"Purple Robe" black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia "Purple Robe") can grow in some of the most difficult conditions and on a variety of sites. The tree reaches 30 to 50 feet tall at maturity, and its oval canopy spreads 20 to 35 feet wide. In spring, it blooms with fragrant and showy pinkish-purple flowers, attracting bees to the area. "Purple Robe" grows in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 4 through 8."

Daffodils, Thistles and Clover

pessimists say weed, highlanders say emblem,
summit of strength, protected by spikelet's and hardiness,
bewitching and captivating flower, irresistible to man and deity.
armed stem defends and supports, tipped with the pride of Scotland,

coverage of clover hardened by the elements and stone,
the luck of the Irish forged by four petite leaves of green,
beauty of the landscape holds the power of this innate country,
tough together, alone are inspired by the magic of Ireland.

welsh pride holds the immense beauty of this tubular trumped flower,
colour of the sun, kissed by raindrops, blessed by a lush green land,
elegant and graceful, this adept nation holds this flower in their hearts,
the proud stance exclaiming its right to its land of the fathers.

Wisdoms From Flowers

Wisdoms from Flowers

People are like flowers.
Even the weediest of plants enjoys living.
Each one has its unique beauty…and purpose.
Whether thriving in a cottage garden,
Or living restrained in a formal knot garden,
Flowers flourish when given loving care.
So it is with people.
Love and care is the key to winning in life.
There are so many diversities among us.
Some seem "weedy" and unrefined.
Some seem "snooty" and uncaring.
Some seemingly thrive amid affluence.
Some judge without seeing the heart.
Some struggle in the midst of hatred.
Anger, backbiting, gossip, lies, and jealousies destroy –
Causing souls to wither like the wilting of a thirsty plant.
But in the arms of love,
Individual uniqueness thrives.
And the world becomes a better place.
Mankind prospers beautifully with tolerance.
Diversity, inside and out, grows.
Prizewinning blooms are cultivated.
Hardiness and fitness show,
When there is love in the garden.
Beauty surrounds and joy abounds.
And the gardener, knowing, glows.

America

“America the beautiful, the home of our brave.”
Liberty is what our neighboring allies long for and crave.

“The world will little not, nor long remember” what was once said.
“This nation under God, shall have a new birth of freedom.” echo in our heads.

“All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain
unalienable Rights”
“ Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” is the precise innocence and purity
our nation admirably honors and fights.

“The people, for the people, by the people will not perish from this earth.”
Together, we ascend from the chaos and rejoice our nations rebirth.

Valor and hardiness together; as one nation, “United we stand.”
Perseverance and justice; superbly havens our homeland.

U.S. troops protect and shield us for what is truthfully right.
Our flag proudly salutes our nation, all day and all night.

America “O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave
“This be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave”
